I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

The BBP is nice to have long term to hold your MRs if you want to cancel the high AF cards. It seems to get targeted for biz gold and biz plat NLLs too.

Amex usually doesn't hard pull existing customers, doesn't matter biz or personal.
Great point. I had not thought of that part. Im sure at some point in the future I will no longer have use for the gold or plat perks. My other old business card earns only cash back no MR.

I just activated a certificate for an old platinum pass from 2015 on my last trip. It had cost me $561 including tax back then. Had the photo pass thing on it as well, so it was the equivalent of the Incredipass (says so in MDE) and the photo thing.

Appreciate this info! We also have 4 old platinum passes sitting in our MDE that we have not activated yet. We got them in 2019, so definitely paid more than you did. Now that the girls are out of college, it is getting harder to plan those trips and they would rather go other places. I have given some thought to using them for just DH and I, but then we would pay a fortune in 2 and 3 day passes for them throughout the year.

i agree with this 100% but capital one what does it have that the others don't? I think with Amex/aa/chase ur you have everything covered no?

Oh C1 would not be a keeper card or anything like that. I have had their cards before and cancelled as I do not have any right now. It would be more of a timing is right with a decent bonus and spend when I am giving Chase or Amex a break. My strategy is not exactly and earn and burn even though I do a a lot of that. It is more opportunistic hoarding. I like to have options and my travel plans have often taken unexpected turns.

Having one during a transfer bonus could prove useful. Right now they have a 40% transfer to Etihad Guest and I have flying the Apartment on my bucket list. If I had C1 points right now, I would take advantage of that in a heartbeat. I am also just as likely to cash out C1 points while I am reluctant to do that with URs or MRs.

I’m working on a SUB for the Amex biz plat and am not sure if my DVC dues will count. Does anyone know if timeshare dues are one of those exempted expenses that don’t count toward the SUB? Thanks for your thoughts!

Just called AMEX and asked to change my Delta Plat to Gold. Was also told on the phone that they cannot not do that...Now, I am stuck. I need to have a Delta Card but when I apply for the Gold I am in PUJ - I hate to have to suck it up and pay the annual fee on this one... UGHHH!!!

Is it possible that when you called, you got someone who didn't know what they were talking about?

If it were me, I would call back. If they have a record of having spoken to you recently, play dumb and say you are confused and need to discuss it again.

What is everyone putting as their business? I started a photography biz back in 2006. I still have a Tax ID from the state for it, and still file a Schedule C for it. But TBH, I haven't really had any business in YEARS! But I always get approved when I file as a photography biz. Now that I retired, I'm doing a little of EVERYTHING. I have my job at Home Depot (which I honestly didn't think I'd be at this long, I sub for a local district, I just started tutoring online, and this week I'll start at a winery that just opened. I was thinking I would like to perhaps start opening cards as a "tutor" since I'm hoping to perhaps continue that more and more. I also need to come up w/ some tax deductions because I'm a 1099 through the company. And juggling the withholdings for a pension, subbing, Home Depot and the winery is a MESS! I try to deduct more from my HD check (additional) but then they ONLY withdraw the additional. I keep saying this is a problem I'll just have to worry about next year. And understand I might be pulling from savings.

HR MCO is going up to a category 5 on March 25, so you'd want to decide before then (or just book it in case).

I think you'll have to call because you don't know when the 5th credit card you canceled will actually fall off in the system.
Can I call? This was a NLL offer, so I don't want to "alert" anything, LOL.

The lady I first spoke to told me I could do that but would have to go through one of the specialists. Then came back and said this card was no eligible for DG to the Gold.

Would it matter that this card started out as Delta Gold Biz in 2019. I got an offer to upgrade to Plat and did that in 2021. Got Retention offer so kept the Plat but now can't seem to DG to Gold...
I went Gold Biz to Plat Biz to Gold Biz. But I downgraded last year. I think around this time since my AF just hit for that card. Hopefully you can get it fixed. Do AUs get the 15% and free checked bag on this card? BF can get the gold personal free (no AF for delta employees). Though 99% of my flying on Delta will be non-rev, I like having the 15% and free bags if needed. But if he can get the card, and get the AF waived and I can get the same perks as an AU....I might look into that (when my 5/24 can handle it). I added him to my Cap1 so he can have the PP for his MSP layovers or sits, LOL.

[Rumor] Chase Sapphire Preferred 100,000 Point Offer In Branch Starts 3/23/25

I am hoping this eventually gets offered via support .....I am planning to downgrade my CSP and wait for an elevated offer once my AF hits in April.
OOOOOH, OOOOOH! I've been thinking of having my DD try to sign up for this card. We do have a branch at the end of our street. Or do I wait and get the referral. I'm going to assume I can wait and get the referral at some point, right?

That's what I am hoping for as DH has the CSP. There are no guarantees, so we just keep waiting, watching and hoping. And the in branch in a rumor right now, according to DOC.

I also need to come up w/ some tax deductions because I'm a 1099 through the company.
Virtually anything you spend being a 1099 employee can be deducted. I don't want to give advice on specifics as I am not an accountant. I am a 1099 employee and did a lot of "google research" to see what I can deduct as a business expense. Then, I verified some of my research with my accountant.

I can confirm that it is possible at the MIA airport during a layover. My family of 6 (me, DH, 2 DDs, and my parents) all did our interviews there over 5 separate appointments, and they always had walk-ins come in and put on the wait list. I never saw anyone have to provide a boarding pass or anything. Appointments had priority but it never was backed up.

Note that the GE office is outside of security across from the Lufthansa check in area, so they would have to exit and re-enter security in order to do this.
yes thank you! One more question..... if My friend has a 2.5 hour layover, (AA) say she lands at 9 am, can make an appt for 10 am, and that should work fine right? (on layover in Miami) I see there are plenty of free appts on that date she'll be going thru

I haven't seen anything that says calling increases the risk. Alternative would be to try again in a month, maybe it's fallen off by then. I only feel confident that I won't need to call when it's been a couple months since canceling the 5th cc.

If it becomes available online via support, it's usually a few weeks later after in branch offer is released, right? So maybe sometime in April?

How long do these elevated offers typically last? I can't recall...

I last earned a CSP bonus in March/April 2021, can't remember which month exactly, so I'm coming due and was planning to apply around May/June this year. Any chance we think this may stick around for at least like 6-8 weeks? If so, I'm golden on this! lol

Amex targeted me for the Blue Business Plus 75k for 6k spend 0% for 12 months. I cant decide if I should go for it or not. I currently hold 3 Amex business credit cards, 2 Amex business charge cards, 1 Amex personal credit card. Any downside to getting this card? I got Cap One Venture, CIP, and Hawaiian within the last month. I have 50k in expenses (federal taxes and DVC)
I did this last year, great card for all the reasons @wanderlust7 mentioned. I'd go for it.

Currently it's targeting me for a new Plat. Unfortunately we have enough SUBs to meet right now, we'll see if it's still there after DH finishes with his new United Biz card

My mom wants to apply for the SW CC that gives you the free CP until end of Feb 2026. But she already has a SW Priority CC from 2-3 years ago. AF just hit. I think she would need to cancel and then wait a month to be able to open another personal SW card, which means she would miss the current CP offer that ends 3/31. Right? Or can one have more than one flavor of a SW personal card?

Id love a Plat offer. But I am going to jump on this also. No hard pull and doesnt count against 5/24. No annual fee. Feeling lucky.

Assuming the SUB was earned at least 24 months ago, she'll need to cancel the card. But if she applies for a different SW cc, then she only needs to wait 4-7 days.
