I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Used up my biz plat Hilton credit with takeout from the restaurant at my local Doubletree. Very expensive mediocre food ($17 for a sandwich!). Went over by $8 because the prices on the menu I found online was outdated. Ticker moved and got an e-mail as soon as the charge posted.

Guess it's better than letting it go to waste. So that's the plan for the 2 Hilton biz credits we have too. Unless Hilton GC miraculously come back in stock.

My waldorf charge finally credited, now if my grubhub from last month would. I didn't use it in Jan, feel like I should have skipped it again.

There should be a way to do it on the website. There's often people talking about requesting increases on r/Amex. You can ask for up to 3 times the current limit I think and ask every 90 days.

I just looked on the app and don't see a clear way there but there's so much more you can do on the website I imagine it's not hard to find once on the card page.

You were right - I was able to increase my AmEx credit limit on the website. Thank you!

My understanding is that it has to be as your are going through customs to enter into the US. So, if the layover is International -> US -> US, you would have to do it on the first leg. Otherwise, you aren't in the correct section of the airport to get to the EoA agents.
aha thanks

oh wait, my friend is connecting thru Miami- so would that be considered departure I wonder? (btw thank you for all replies)
EoD is very new, so you aren't going to find a ton of first hand reports.

Miami info indicates:
Miami International Airport (MIA)
Location: Concourse J, 2nd level opposite the Lufthansa Check In-Counter, 2100 NW 42nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33122, Flamingo Parking Garage
Hours of Operation: Monday through Saturday from 8am to 6pm ET
Eligibility: International Flights only

So, if that's an outbound international flight, it seems like it will work. Although they'd have to leave security and reenter in the correct area, if I'm reading that correctly (the fact that it's opposite a check in counter). And you need to think about how long that layover is, too.

It's a never-say-never scenario, but yes, that is part of the criteria now when it's deciding on whether to offer you a bonus or not. So you are way more likely to get a pop up about not getting the bonus on a Green or Gold card if you've had the Platinum card.

From a Green card app:
OFFER TERMS
You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card, the Platinum Card®, the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley, the Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Charles Schwab, the American Express® Gold Card or previous versions of these Cards.

So you'd want to look at the terms of the card(s) you're considering to confirm.

As for the retention offer, you have to hold the card without cancelling or downgrading for 12 months after you accept the offer or they'll take back the retention bonus. (You can upgrade, can't downgrade. Forget the language they use in the disclosure.) The 13 month thing is not being eligible for another retention offer until 13 months since you accepted one.
Boo! Sad to hear!

If I want an increase to my credit limit on an AmEx card, what's involved? Can I do that by phone? Is it a pain in the neck? This is a personal card, not a business card.
Very easy to do on the website. You fill out a form. They'll say yes right away or we'll get back to you which means no, or perhaps ask for additional documentation.

I just cancelled Ireland...UGH! I swear, someday I'll get my daughter there. She is in a good place, but doesn't want to go. So no reason to force a trip. I just have to make sure I use these damn avios some day! I need to have my mom move her points around to create some activity on her account.

With the announcement of Harry Styles doing the sphere, I told her we'll work on getting her tickets to a show and get a nice room there, LOL. I told her maybe I'll have her get another CC and try to earn some points for it. How successful can a 20yo be getting a CSP? She's has the Discover It she's been using it monthly for small purchases.

I'm catching up on about 10 pages, but before I even got to this I wondered if you were working on an Ireland trip this month! The Sphere is a great choice if she'd rather that, not that you'd need Vegas advice from anyone!!

We don't have Ireland plan this year, though we'd love to, but we're going to Italy/Switzerland in May so no complaints.

Can someone remind me about target circle offers and coupons? I have a circle offer that requires a $70 purchase and a coupon for $10 off a $60 (electronics) purchase. To make both of these work on a single purchase, would I need to spend $70 or $80?

I'll be canceling DW's IHG biz in April to bring her to 2 biz cards and trying for another Ink. Do I need to wait 30 days after canceling or is that just if I want to go for the same card I canceled? Also, can I use the FNC before I cancel for a future stay? If yes can I change the date later if needed?

Unfortunately, I don't think the answers on Chase's new sensitivity for biz apps are as clear cut as the rules we've come to know for personal.

P2 and I both were able to app a 3rd biz card less than 30 days after cancelling what used to be our 3rd biz card. We both went down to 2 Inks less than 30 days before app a SW biz, both instant approval. But, others on this thread had trouble getting the approval after canceling within the 30 days.

I was thinking of doing the same but haven't looked into it. How did you find out they would do a takeout order? Called them up or is it online somewhere?
If I can't make some pre-payments on some Q2 and Q3 bookings, then next best was getting food at a restaurant.

Once the FNC is in your IHG account, it's yours until it expires. No hotel program that I am aware of revokes FNCs. Once it is in your account it is out of the CC issuer's hands and handled by the hotel program. So you can book whenever and make changes same as before.

I am new here, but need advice on which credit card to get. Disney trip scheduled for 4/3/25. Need to pay off the balance of 2000. Right now I do not owe on cc and have stopped using cards except a Chase Freedom card with high rate.(I pay it within the week) I have good credit score 750's so I can get another card. Looking for something that 0% APR for at least 12 months on purchases. I have a Chase Visa freedom, BOA royal Caribbean visa, capital one quicksilver, and and an old sears/mc own way. No new credit in the last 1.5 year. Closed an old discover 3 months ago that was still linked w/ ex. What should I next card be? Thanks! Is the disney rewards card good? I have their debit card thru chase .

I've been trying unsuccessfully to transfer my husband's URs to mine. (We have done it before with no issue). Then we realized that he was trying to transfer his INK URs to my personal.

So then he tried transferring to himself (from Biz to personal, so that we could then transfer from his personal to my personal)- that didn't work either. No matter what he does, it says something about "We couldn't transfer at this time."

It seems to be a problem strictly with his accounts... mine is working just fine.

I will SM them next week but does anyone know what the issue might be?
I vaguely remember this happening a few years ago when I had to combine. I ended up having to use a
different browser. I don't remember which one but Chrome got the error.

A Hawaiian flight booked through Jetblue would be a partner award. Availability usually isn't as good for partner awards. If it's available through Jetblue, it should appear as business. I would aim for Hawaiian/Alaska miles instead, especially since you need 4 tickets. Looks like it's 130k one-way for what they market as first class. Each person would need 2 SUBs unless you go the Amex route (high AF, high spend, lots of points). Amex MR transfers to Hawaiian for now, but speculation is that it'll end at some point.
Thank you. Follow up question, my BIL has JB card/miles. If I get him to sign up for the Hawaiian card would he be able to combine his JB and Hawaiian miles for himself and my SIL? Would he need to book separately? One tix with JB miles and the other with Hawaiian points?

This is definitely going to depend on whether you want a card that you're going to keep or one that you plan to close after the year. You can often get better points and bonuses on cards with an annual fee (especially considering this will code as travel), so you keep it the first year and then cancel it. But, it doesn't sound like that's what you do with cards.

You might want to consider the Wells Fargo Active Cash card. It's 0% intro APR, earns 2% on all purchases, and has a $200 welcome bonus. That could be good not only to hold that 0% for the first 12 months but it could also become your default card since it earns 2% all day versus your freedom earning 5% in certain categories but then 1% for spend outside of those categories.

If you have any business income that would justify it, a Chase Ink Cash business card also gets the 0% intro APR, it's a higher bonus ($750 if you spend $6000 in the first six months), also no annual fee, and the percentage categories on that card are interesting. Since it gets 5% back at office supply stores, that means anything you can buy as a gift card at office supply (Amazon, Disney, etc) then becomes a 5% earn instead of the 1% you're getting on your freedom.

Both of these cards are going to have the APR jump after 12 months, so you definitely want to be paid in full before then and then you would pay them off in full every month after that initial promo.

The Disney Visa only gives 6 months of 0% on Disney Vacation Purchases. Since you can't do a Freedom since you currently have one perhaps the Freedom Unlimited which gives 1.5% on every purchase plus 3% on Drugstores and Dining. The card has a signup bonus of $200 and has no interest for 15 months.

If you received that card and just put your Disney $2,000 on it you would have $230 in Chase Points. Your Payment at 0% would be under $135 a month for those 15 months.

I closed a CIU on 2/18 (bringing me down to 2 biz cards) and was approved for a new one yesterday. I was actually planning on waiting much longer, but I've got a huge tax bill to pay and Amex still keeps giving me the pop-up. I was pleasantly surprised with the instant approval from Chase.
