So.... If I can get 5x IHG points on restaurants, is that preferable to the 3x UR on the flex? wwyd? (BTW, confessing my major June fail was forgetting to use the flex for restaurant spend and using my CSR instead :faint:) ..........Also- if I have Hilton spend....better to use my CSR or Hitlon Biz for 10x points? I always have tough time deciding which matters more to me in the points ecosystems....

Just got my first denial from Chase for CIC card. I have a CIC (opened 9/23) and a CIU (opened 1/2023). I closed a CIC 3 days ago (open for over 2 years). I also just closed an IHG business card.

So two Chase business cards and I'm 2/24. I've only opened one card this year, and it was a US Bank card back in April. Where did I go wrong here? Should I have applied for a CIC instead (to replace the one that I closed)? Did I apply too soon?

Any recon if it's a flat denial?

I rarely make a big purchase and am able to meet a big spend, but I'm about to purchase $3500 worth of furniture. Obviously need a SUB!

What were the reasons for the denial ?
Do you have other Chase cards, if so how much credit have they extended on both business and personal…usually Chase likes to keep it under 50% of household income or $70,000 ish… the 3 days may not have been enough time but 🤷🏼‍♀️
Got my letter...reasons:
Number of recently opened accounts
Business structure
Insufficient business deposit relationship with us

I'm 2/24, but have opened five cards total in the last 24 months- 3 other business cards.
I used the same business structure as my prior apps, education services (tutoring side gig)

Not sure what the last piece means? I did recently move my direct deposit from my Chase personal checking to another bank to get a bank bonus...but that's not a business bonus. I'll be moving that back.

Advice for recon? Or reapply with changes?

I always have these issues too! Nerdwallet says 500 IHG pts = $4.00. Not sure if that is exactly true, another site says $3.50. So spend $100, get 500 IHG pts or 300 UR's. Depends on how you use those UR's, and what value you place on them. I get a minimum of 1.25/UR, so $3.75 for me. Toss up?

It's through the Amazon site. Do a search for AmEx Amazon offer and you should pull up a link. I just searched to find it for you and I already have a new 15% off up to $15.
It says we are not eligible but maybe I'll check again tomorrow. I have been getting free prime for a year so maybe Amazon feels like thats enough lol

We cancelled prime last summer and ever since anytime I go to check out it offers me a free 30 day trial. I cancel the trial at the end, and sure enough a few weeks later when I decide to order from Amazon they offer me another one. I'm sure thatll stop eventually but it has been nice!

Chase is doing me in today. i have four Ink cards. I cannot combine points on their website with my CSR. So I called. They did three of the accounts but on the fourth they told me the owner name wasn't matching because of the name change. They were finally able to get the points on that card sent to my CSR. Then I SMed to close one Ink. They called me to confirm. There's a reason I used SM, Chase!

Plan is to wait a few days and apply for a CIP.

They always seem to call twice when closing Ink cards. I always warn DH not to answer his phone when we close one of his cards!

I just closed 2 cards and lowered the CL on the CIU I got in April. Prepping for my next application in a week or so (SUB will be met with dd's tuition payment in September, so will apply towards the end of the month).

I just applied and was approved for a Cdn card that gives me 35k points on first purchase (!!) that I move to BA Avios during a 20% transfer bonus (which they have a few times a year). I have lost track of how many times I've applied for this card lol (no limit up here). I'll go every 3 months until they decline me lol. I LOVE Avios, esp since with AP it's getting harder and harder to get decent redemptions -- diversity is crucial.

These are my values for each of those, yours may be different:
UR: .015
IHG: .005
Hilton: .007

So 5x IHG (5x.005)=.025 or 2.5% back versus 3x UR (3x.015)=.045 or 4.5% back ---> put it on the UR earning card

10x Hilton (10x.007)= .07 or 7% back versus 3x UR (3x.015)=.045 or 4.5% back ---> put it on the Hilton

So that's the math of it, if all things are equal, meaning, you would use any of these points, ie you are point agnostic. If however, you would only use UR, for example, just make it simple and use the UR earning card.

Hi everyone. We're back from our 3 week European vacation. I was hoping to pop in to write a quick summary for anyone who was anticipating it, but much to my surprise, and absolute shock and horror, my 16 year old cat passed away on the morning that we flew home (this past Monday). She is our second cat to pass away in less than 45 days with our first being our orange tabby boy that we had to euthanize due to stomach cancer just days before our trip. I am without words, and I am spinning in grief. I'll be back later to write a summary, but for now I wanted to thank you all again for helping me with our trip.
I am so sorry for your loss.

I posted this on the SW thread on the transportation board, too, but any thoughts here?

So, I had several flights that SW changed and I received the emails on 6/21 about the free change. I’ve been busy and didn’t mess with changing them yet and now the red banner is gone from these flights and the free change option isn’t available. I’ve read the emails with a fine tooth comb and don’t see any terms of the change needing to be done in a certain amount of time. Has this happened to anyone else? I really don’t want to call, but I don’t want to miss out on changing these.

I think we were typing at the same time! lol

I'd appreciate any advice. I've never called recon again...this is new territory for me!

I haven’t seen the last 2 reasons and on Reddit haven’t seen a one having success calling recon and getting approved so I would just wait a month or so and reapply

Just checked the flights I had free changes on and the banner is gone….went to the SW thread on flyer talk and someone posted that the change has to be made online within 15 days or the banner goes away and you have to call to make the change

Hmmm, I was on my 15th day when I noticed it yesterday. Thank you for finding that. I tried searching and wasn’t coming up with an answer from this year. That’s frustrating, but if I can still change if I call, that’s doable. I wonder why it goes away?

I guess it’s 14 days then, No idea why it goes away but this was the policy back in 2020 ish when SW changed/cancelled a lot of flights due to Covid

Thanks for the reply! (and @georgina ) I'll try to keep it in mind- UR is my usual go to but once in a while it's nice to generate some of the others too since I do use them....

That's interesting, it doesn't seem like you have a lot of new opened accts, could it be about income ratio and they're not stating that?
