Forgot to mention that the CIC has 5x on office supply stores, which would be good for buying GC.

Are you planning to go to Disney when you go to Japan? You might want to look at one of the Amex Hilton cards at some point to stay at the Hilton Tokyo Bay. The Surpass and biz versions comes with Gold status, which would get you free breakfast.

Woof! This thread moves lightning quick!

Yes, we took DS to TDR in 2015, stayed at Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta. Lovely hotel. No plans have been made at this time. LOVE Japan!

Sometimes that website is like that, it's annoying. Seriously, it feels like a big victory when I can get it to work. You can try a different browser, or try clearing cookies, restart your computer, all those things to try to trick the website into thinking you're a new visitor.
Thanks so much- I never think of that. Went incognito and that did the trick!

If anyone has thoughts on the United credit cards that they would like to share I would be very grateful. We seem to be flying with them a lot these days.

The United biz has a high SUB with high spend. It's tiered, 150k for $20k spend, or you can just do 75k for $5000. Opens up expanded award space. Having both the biz and a personal United card gets you 5000 anniversary miles.

DH used to have the United Explorer. That's at 70k for $6000, or just do the first tier at 60k for $3000. AF waived first year. His card hit a year, so I had him downgrade to the no fee Gateway. It seems to have kept the expanded award space. I can see XN and JN space, but there's no longer a note that it's exclusive space available to card holders like there used to be, so I was very confused at first.

Incognito worked for me too, thanks! Don't think I'll have a chance to use it, but it's nice to be able to add it to my Aspire. :)

I see that some of the Member Week offers are on there today too. I really want the Hilton $100 get $40 on my Aspire to stack with the resort credit and use it at Hilton Tokyo Bay. Hope that one will eventually show up on there too.

Okay I've never used the Chase Portal to book travel, but hotel rooms in Ireland can be booked using the portal. Might as well use those points I had my mom earning, LOL. Soooo, does a CIP and a CSP book at the same level? Is the CSR the only one who gets the better redemption?

Okay another question....there's a Hyatt in Dublin I'm looking to book. It says "from 12,000" points. But I don't have any Hyatt points in my account right now. I'm looking to book it on 3/18 for 1 night when everything is insane in cost. I don't want to transfer points only to find out that it's crazy high. How can I figure out what it is before I transfer?

CSP will get it at .0125 redemption. I believe CIP will be 25% less.

Look at the award calendar (I think the box or link is just above the "from 12,000 points box). It will show each individual night's points rates.

ETA: I also saw a cash price alert for good roundtrip flights to Boston for only about $150. Not sure if you've booked your positioning flight yet. Can't recall now if you're flying out of BOS, lol.

Just checked and it's 12K points at Hyatt Centric the Liberties (is that the one you were hoping to book?). I don't remember how many you have in your party but there is a 1K bed and 1 2Q bed available...it's a busy time though so I'd book before the points rooms are gone (that happens during busy months)

I happened to be logged into my Hyatt account and checked this out for you. I'm assuming it's the Hyatt Centric? That one is 12,000 pts for that night, there is availability for 1KG or 2Twin beds rooms. That's with a guest limit of 2; when I enter 3 guests then availability goes away. I'm assuming you're taking both kids?

100% different hotels have different award availability the earlier you book the better.

Is there any reason to not book via Chase Portal for your rental car? It's so much cheaper than any other place for Ireland!

Do you remember who on? We do need to get from DTW to BOS!

There will be 3 adults. Thanks to the fact Ireland has tiny rooms we're going to book 2 rooms, LOL. Thank you for looking!!!

Question. If I have an MSR, half of which I can do immediately, but I still need several hundred and I need to bonus asap, can I book a fully refundable flight on SW and then cancel it, once I have spent enough to cover that part of the spend? Does that make sense LOL?

They do that when I cancel a card. I just ignore them and they close it the next day.

I think they are just trying to talk you out of cancelling. I get a phone call every time I cancel via Sm. Ignore and they’ll close it. That has been my experience.

Yup - just like you both said. I got another call a little while ago that I didn't answer, immediately followed by an email that I had a secure message and the card is now closed. Thank you!
