Warning--this will not be helpful: I have Marriott points but booked the London Edition (it was 60k points, now not available on points but cash rate is > $900/night). Luckily it's just dd and me so we could find a room using points.

And we land in London on a Saturday afternoon and fly out Monday afternoon (if we had a few more I would have done the Harry Potter Studio Tour) but I want to do the Churchill War Rooms and the Tower of London. DD gets to pick a show. She suggested Harry Potter and the Cursed Child but I'm really hoping she changes her mind because it's too long (I can't make it through a movie that's over 90 minutes).

Ok .... I'd love your help folks,as I'm forgetting the details of my CSR.... I think I'll be coming up on the AF time for this (almost a year) and I can't keep it.... so I will PC it. I just have a couple of questions before I plan this.....
1) do I have 30 days after it posts to use the TC before I pc?
2) it's in P2's (DH) name.... can I book a rental car on the CSR, make sure it's my name on the rental page,if DH will not be with me to pick up?
3) will a prepaid car rental trigger the TC? (my timing may be tight)
4) if I made any other points purchases that haven't yet been used before I PC, what happens to those reservations? (like a car rental ,hotel, etc)
I'd like to use the 2nd TC at least before I lose this one.....I plan to keep just one CSP in our family for now to hold my UR stash......thank you!

In my experience with rental cars…usually Alamo, the credit card being using must be in the renters name. I tried to use my CSR once a few years go when the rental was in DHs name and Alamo wouldn’t allow it…even with me there, we had to use one of his cards

You should be able to see when the travel credit resets when looking at the CSR benefits…for example mine says resets after my 8/2022 statement closes

If you PC the CSR prior to the car and hotel stays the CSR travel protection no longer covers those items….but the reservations remain

I know it'll notify me of a message but I've never had it take this long to get even the 1st response on amex chat. Using the app. Know their stuff has been bad the past week or so but I expect it before 10 min like normal. Maybe by the end of the week it'll be resolved 😂 just want my resort credit.

Eta and now almost 30 min later the chat box is gone so I guess that's the end of that.
mine posted all at once last night .

How were the war rooms?
Loved them. Well, DS and DH are more history buffs than I am, but even I found them interesting.
We watched the game! How exciting, we're a Tottenham family. I'd love to go to a game there!
It was so great! Official tickets are only through the club and approved vendors, not stubhub or Ticketmaster. You have to join the club to buy 🙄 but they didn't have 3 tickets together. Stubhub had tickets but you run the risk of issues and they had groups of 2 or 4 only. We ended up with an approved ticket seller/travel agency and VIP tickets at around $350 each. Tickets on Stubhub were running around $300 for the last row of second level. We had free food and second row. You can see us during the game right down in front.
So glad you have a great visit! Which hotel did you stay at? I did see if I changed it to 2, standard rooms were abailable.
We stayed at Doubletree London Victoria and Resident Victoria. Booked Doubletree with points via Hilton, 70k per night for 5 nights. Booked a Queen Family, upgraded to King Junior suite which was 2 rooms with a sofa bed for DS. Hotel was decent, clean, staff pleasant with a great buffet breakfast. We filled up at breakfast and mostly skipped lunch or had a snack. The location was fine for us, right across from Victoria station which gave us access to the trains and tube easily. Not a ton of restaurants in immediate area but some a couple blocks away. We also used UberEats. After Hilton points ran out, I booked Resident Victoria thru Chase portal. Lovely boutique hotel a block from Buckingham Palace. Very nice though compact rooms. There was a couch which was turned into a daybed for DS (he said it was much more comfortable than Doubletree). Nice bathroom, 2 closets and a mini kitchen complete with microwave, sink, fridge and full complement of dishes and flatware. Small but felt roomy. I don't think they have suites. Location was great but no breakfast included, no restaurant on site. We got breakfast from a little cafe around the corner.

The War rooms were great but if you have time for a tour (3 hours) we had a wonderful private tour booked thru Chase portal with Ye Olde England Tours. The tour was Churchill centric but the guide, Kevin, was full of info and answered questions on any topic (of which DS had many). It ends at The War Rooms, where Kevin took us in and got our tickets, which were included. We were on our own to explore the War Rooms at our own pace.

We also did afternoon tea at The Rubens which was fabulous (also booked thru Chase portal) Even DS enjoyed himself despite the fact I made him wear a shirt with buttons and a collar 😉

How were the war rooms?

Not the person you asked, but another person who think the Churchill War Rooms are worth a visit. My parents took me there when I was in HS and they were fascinating back then. We took DD to them many years later, on her first trip to London, and she really liked it. The museum had been updated with lots of multimedia stuff but still had some of the old stuff just as I remembered it. I'd say it's even more engaging now with all the additions. Time well spent IMHO.

I just noticed that DH's CP was extended, I never saw the 20K support link points go pending in his account and I checked several times last week. The points show in the statement that closed on 4/3. Anyone else have issues with support link points showing up on the dashboard?

We are heading to DC for a few nights the week after Easter - Wednesday to Saturday. We (DH and I plus DD14, DS13 and DS10) are driving from MA and staying at the Grand Hyatt.
We are going to the zoo on the Thursday, but other than that no concrete plans. Will obviously go to monuments and museums. Just trying to figure out a plan. And of course we'll need to eat! I believe there are a few on this board in the DC area.
Any tips/suggestions, must dos would be much appreciated.

And a credit card question... If my mother signs up for an Amex Gold Biz and puts me as an authorized user/employee. Can I make payments on the card from my checking account? And can I transfer the MRs to my Marriott account?

Trying to work around being in pop-up jail.

Still nothing. It's only 60 bucks but it's still annoying. Makes me glad I didn't do more.

See the monuments, Capitol etc lit up at night. If they are doing them, the free tours at the library of Congress and air museum are great. I've also done one at the holocaust museums special exhibit. I like to look at stuff and see the name of things on the plaques but I hate having to read everything so if I can have someone tell me stuff and I can ask questions I'll always do that. They didn't require sign ups before but did have set times.

Do sign up for a Capitol tour, that one is good and requires signing up in advance. If they've restarted them.

I've emailed my congressman and one of my senators to try to get a Capitol tour, but I might be a bit late for this. Is there another way to sign up?

Update on my recent stay at the Sir Albert (a Marriott property in Amsterdam). After reporting the issue (to Marriott) with the hotel using points (30k, which is a steal for the property IMHO) instead of my FNC, a case was opened. The hotel e-mailed me last Friday saying that according to their records everything with respect to my stay was fine and they didn't owe me any points. I e-mailed back and once again explained that they should have used the FNC, not 30K points. On Saturday morning I had a response that they would be refunding 30K points to my account and 150 euros to my credit card for the issues I experienced during my stay (which I was not expecting). I checked my Marriott account this morning and the 30K points are there as well as the FNC. I would definitely stay here again since they resolved the issues to my satisfaction. As I said in a previous post I loved the location, the room was clean and contemporary and the all the staff that I dealt with was very nice.

I'm still having issues getting my money back from Chase for the breakfast that I paid for, but was denied by the hotel. I called last week and spoke with a supervisor who told me that they couldn't refund the money I paid, but would issue me 4K URs within 3-4 days. The points weren't showing yesterday, so I called. Was again transferred to a supervisor who told me that the credit was 2.5 URs and could take 3-4 billing cycles (which is insane). I said that was incorrect as I paid over $40 for the breakfast and 2,500 URs would not cover the cost. She said that was what the case said and that she would have to investigate the discrepancy and get back to me last night. She called me late in the evening and said she was just starting her investigation and would get back to me around 1pm today (no call yet). I am wondering if I can file a dispute with Chase for the $40 since waiting 3-4 billing cycles for the URs is nonsensical. Next stay I would not pay for breakfast (I only paid for breakfast for 1 night booked through the Chase UR portal) as there is a nice patisserie across the street, several good restaurants within a 5 min walk and a grocery store around corner.

Ok, DS wants to go to London. I can make it happen at the end of June/early July. Hotel suggestions? I have plenty of Hilton FNCs and Hyatt points. Suggestions?
I booked the Biltmore LXR (in Mayfair) for 6 nights using Hilton points. Also highly regarded (on FT) are the Conrad (which was my 2nd choice) and Bankside (great lounge if you have Aspire status). There is also the Park Lane; there are reports that the rooms are dated, though the location is amazing. If you have FNCs I'd go for either the Biltmore or Conrad or Bankside (the Bankside is a FT favorite, though the location doesn't appeal quite as much to me).

Thanks!

I've always just booked it on the capitols website. I've only gone to my rep or senator to get galley tickets, well and one coffee thing one of my senators holds monthly. Was interesting but prob not for kids.

I have a couple of questions....I am now at 3/24 on personal cards and will technically go to 2/24 on 7/16.

I am past the 4 year mark for getting a Sapphire Bonus so I am planning to PC my current Chase Sapphire Reserve to a Chase Freedom so that I can go for a MDD of a CSR/CSP combo. My question is do I need to wait 4 days after the product change of 30 days? I have seen some conflicting info. I was not planning on doing it anyway until 5/1 to space it out from my last Chase Biz card. I was also just going to move all of my UR points currently on my Chase Reserve to another card for the time being. Is there anything else I am missing not thinking of?

If I get approved for both I realize it will put me at 5/24 but it would drop back to 4/24 on 7/16. Thanks in advance for any tips/suggestions.

I have stayed at both the Andaz Liverpool and the Churchill.....both were nice Hyatts. The club was great (one of the best I have ever visited) at Churchill but not sure if it is still open.
