Just checked my and DHs accounts online and can see everything….how odd it disappeared
Well here's an on-going saga for the holidays that I don't think anyone else has experienced - at least that I remember. So DH applied for a CIU via support from me earlier in the month. He was immediately approved, I had the card expedited and set up a charge to be made on the 20th on the card. I go in yesterday on the 22nd to make the payment on the card and poof it's not in his online biz account. I checked and made sure that the charge had been made to the card and it had.

So I sent an SM explaining that I wanted to make a payment on the card and it's gone. They replied back that they would have to refer me to the IT dept and then this morning there was another SM from the fraud dept that DH needed to call them. So he did and after speaking to 6+ people and over an hour of time all we got out is he needs to send a copy of his DL, SSN and a utility bill to prove its him. No one will answer the question of why would they ask for this info after approving and allowing a charge on the card. In the meantime, the charge just sits there. We didn't even explore the whole "how do we meet the MSR on a card that we can't access". I do have the support points pending on my account.

For now, we're letting this sit for the weekend. DH may try to call again on Monday, he deals with this type of crap for work so he's much better at this type of thing than I am. He did get an email address to send the info to so we might just send it and see what happens. I just find it so odd that they didn't ask for this info before approving him. He has another CIU card and multiple other personal Chase cards.

Very weird. Maybe someone else tried to open an account in his name also. Maybe check his credit report for other accounts.

Good idea! I will look at that, hadn't thought about that.
So for "Security" they are requesting you to send SENSITIVE documents via a post card, I mean email?!

If it was me, I would not send anything such as a DL/SSN via email. Request a better option or SM...
That was our point to the rep. We applied using his SSN but now you want us to email all this identifying information? We both work in insurance so emailing sensitive info unencrypted is not a practice that we would ever advise. We'll see what happens after we try to talk to someone on Monday. If we could just pay off the balance and close the card I'd be fine with that at this point. I'll forgo the points. There's just something that seems shady to me.

Did you try: Go to Accounts, Profile and Settings, Account Settings, Manage linked accounts, Show my accounts?
Is it there for linking?

Re: the Chase Ink Biz cards. This morning I logged in the app and my CIU was not showing. I just logged in on a chromebook/web and it's there. So something must be up. I was definitely using my login on both devices that is linked to the Biz.

My turn to be a dummy. Didn't have one card on autopay, because we don't use it since MSR was done. Didn't realize it was in my Apple acct, so something got charged to it. Payment was due yesterday, they added a late fee, also yesterday. Made payment this morning from US Bank checking, it's a US Bank Card. Said payment would be made the 27th, balance shows zero. This does nothing to a credit report right? I don't care about the fee it was only $1.16, just the credit reporting.

Yes, you're fine.

I accidentally forget a few payments a year. I've always gotten courtesy waivers from Amex and Chase but it definitely won't impact your credit.

Vanilla gift card has decent customer service. Ordered a $500 card Thursday when happ posted a promo code for the activation fee. Paid through Paypal. Got an email this morning that they had cancelled my order. Called, she said I didn't have a default shipping address listed on my account, which I find odd because I have ordered several things through Paypal that have been delivered here, plus this is an electronic GC. Anyway, she was able to give me another promo code to use to reorder, and they were working on Christmas Eve!

Yep, tried that still not there. If it wasn't for my previous SM's regarding the account, I'd believe that I had dreamt having the card. Well that and I have a physical card. Tried pulling up the account in Chrome on a new device and still no go.

I think they think it's fraud as the charge was for my DD's tuition through FACTS (I know a few of you use this company too). You could argue that a large charge to a financial company might be suspicious. If they would look at DH's history they would see the same charge on other cards. I think we just need to call when the regular staff is there. I just find it odd that if it was suspected fraud, they never reached out to us they just removed the card. What if it really was fraudulent? I would expect if they suspected that, that they would reach out and ask did you make this charge? Seems odd.

The IRS has delayed 1099-k rules for 3rd party payers like Paypal (airbnb, etsy, venmo, etc). Doesn't help me as I found out last year Virginia has already implemented the rule.

Yep. I've had 1099-ks in VA for the last two years from Paypal but kept it under $600 this year. Trying to figure out what Swagbucks earnings are income vs. rebates is a massive pain (and I do know all Swagbucks income should be reported).

Too bad they are still forcing amortization of domestic R&D over five years but that's another topic for another day.

Exactly! I kept my Paypal at $595 this year from Swagbucks. I don't agree about all SB income. When they have no-fee purchase SB, I use that for CC MSR and I get 10% referral bonus of DH's points so it is a no-brainer. No way should buying SB to redeem for Amazon be taxable!

Sorry, I was distinguishing between income (from surveys, etc.) and rebates (shop, etc.) I agree with you. I was just saying that all income is technically taxable even if you don't get a 1099-K.

I saw that was a possibility, so thanks for the confirmation.

This year we definitely sold either NHL tickets or live theater/concert tickets that totaled well over $600. Some were at a small loss, some were at a small profit, but we made some money overall. I don't think NC requires the 1099 reporting (at least in the past), so I'll have to decide if I'm going to spend the time to compile all the sales and the costs (concert tickets would be easy but both the hockey and theater are via subscription, so will need to research, ugh).

I'm definitely going to set up a spreadsheet for 2023 so I can track this in real time. My sales would have been via ticketmaster resale and 1 StubHub.

I wasn't even thinking StubHub originally. I sold some event tickets over the summer but not over $600. Have to keep that in mind next summer as I bought a full tournament package again. Some of my tickets sold so fast that I thought I could have asked for more money for them.

And it just occured to me that some of the tickets we sold in 2022 were purchased either before or very early in the pandemic and the events themselves were pushed into 2022. I have no idea how that's supposed to shake out if the expense was in 2020 and the resale was in 2022. The biggest one for us was 4 seats to touring Hamilton (family members that they were for could no longer attend). We definitely made money on those and we bought them in 2020.

I'd guess that I should claim the full amount of those sales as income with nothing to offset, but that would stink from a tax perspective. Hmmm.

That's us too, our side hustle is reselling tickets, mostly to games that we can't make it to but this year I'll have to keep up with the sales. The good news for us is I don't think we will sell as many in 2023 and won't have as much of a profit as we did in 2022. I get why they are doing it but I think the $600 threshold is low.
