If this is a new card, you should keep it the first full year.

You don't need to have it open at the time of your trip. If you cancel, the refund would still go to your closed account and Barclay's would send you a check. The process may or may not go smoothly. There was another thread where someone had an issue with a Disney refund going to a closed Barclay's card. You might have to follow-up, but you should get your refund eventually.
Thank you! I appreciate it. It’s been open more than a year. I’ve just got too many to keep up with and that one has an annual fee, so it’s on the chopping block. Thanks again.

If I'm cancelling a Hilton FNC and a room with points, can I do that online or do I need to call?
You have to call to get the cert back into your account (or to apply it to a stay). Wish they would do it like Marriott and all the certs show up as an option to 'pay' for the room. One other thing that is related. Check your points balance a day or two after you apply a cert to a stay. I applied mine to a Waldorf Astoria at 80k this year- and the cert was used AND the rep docked me 80k points as well. It was a first time for me- was kind of taken aback when I saw my points balance- but they addressed it without issue when I called back in.

So how do I cancel a non-refundable business class ticket on United and still salvage some money from it?

You need to call them. There is some flexibility with options since they don't charge a change fee any more. If you don't have a flight coming up that you can 'change' this to, then your options get more limited. Depends on the agent and the story you weave. They are getting stricter as time goes on, but much earlier this year I was able to get a flight refunded with a good story- but I fly with them a lot. We had just come back using United, and were headed out again shortly after the trip they refunded- and I had already booked our flights with them for a trip we have in 3 weeks so when they looked me up they saw a lot of other activity- I think this helped my case. Don't get your hopes up too high, but if you fly with them a lot they might make a concession- but as I said earlier it is YMMV- mine was refunded way back when the Delta variant was just getting ramped up and people were cancelling like crazy- last time I called to make some changes a few weeks ago they were toeing the party line a little more strictly. All you can do is try.

I would take a voucher for future travel as I really don't have a trip coming up soon, but I'm planning to ramp up travel next year. Do they still have that as an option?

That actually happened to me in Feb. They docked my points and not the cert. But I didn't notice until a month after our stay. My good friend works at Hilton and told me to call the diamond line. I did, then asked to be transferred to a manager. They took care of me. So for this stay I asked about 57 times to make sure she was applying the cert!

I have a $135 still on one and won't be acquiring any new ones due to having to walk the hotels through the redemption process. The card will get used for incidentals - I should have tried to apply it to my son's Hawaii trip, but didn't feel up to the challenge by phone.

In the past I have purchased WM GCs online and had it count for the quarterly category. Maybe you could try that if you plan to do more WM shopping.
Are you just paying the 5.95 shipping fee? Buying all at once? I just tried again in the store
and bought socks a candle . Still coded as groceries Sigh. There is nothing but
supercenters around here. I feel like I might just have to buy gift cards online. I really want to use
at Sam's club. I haven't seen a stand alone Walmart in ages. I hate to leave those points on the table.

Is anyone else here taking advantage of the Kabbage savings account offer for $300 after 5 debit card transactions? If so, do you recall how long it takes after the 5th deposit for the $300 to appear?

I got this offer on both Marriott Brilliant and regular plus on the authorized user card.

Nice! I added 150 offers to DH's Brilliant and still didn't get it lol. Got it on my Bonvoy biz and added it but then remembered that I might go for the Brilliant so should have waited. Oops. Oh well, will keep checking back on DH's Brilliant.

Some nice cruise offers on Amex this morning for those who cruise other than RCCL. Also a nice Marriott offer!
Yay! I had it on my plat. I just used the spend $250.00 get $50.00 on my biz plat (expired a week ago), so I'm excited to get another offer. I will use it when I go to visit dd on November 12th!

How hard are the GCs to redeem? I have been stockpiling Marriott GCs whenever I have a cc promo for our (likely to be cancelled) trip to the Maldives (at the St Regis).

My two recent charges at Walmart SuperCenter have posted as 1%+4% just the first charge on the 4th is listed as 1% only. The last one was all groceries and it posted as 1%+4%. Not sure if they corrected something when I sent them a SM or it just was not working for a lot of people the first week but maybe send them a SM and see if that 'fixes' new charges...

Where do you see the extra 4%? I looked on my tracking but did not see it. Can you only see
changes after statement ends?
