Now, we are all booked for this year vacation wise.
I think we will do a cheap Florida trip next Oct. to get one more use out of our Universal app’s. Something like 2 days Legoland, 3 days using Dvc points with just Halloweenparty or boo bash with 3 nights at Universal.

🤞🤞 2023 for DCL. We cancelled Nov 2020 and Nov. 2021 and I feel like the kids, especially DS are going to age out by the time we get to go.

Need to start stock piling DGC to get us on the Wish.

I PCd my CSR to a CFU on Sept. 17. I know I need to wait 4 days to apply for the CSP. But is that four calendar days or four business days?

Hi folks, I need some help thinking about timing for applying for Chase SW Business cards this fall in order to get a CP in early 2022. Just got CSR and CSP this past June. Is it too soon to apply for the SW Business Performance? I will be getting some landscaping done this fall and want to use the card since that project alone will meet the MSR. I also don't want to wait too long so I can the second business card in early December or thereabouts. December is a big spending month so I'd probably meet the MSR on the Premier Business within the month. Any thoughts on timing (or any of this)?

This would be my first business card btw

I’m not great with the timing details, but don’t forget you can’t hit the MSR until after January 1, and you’ve only got 3 months to hit it. So you don’t want to apply any earlier than early or mid-October.

Just for clarification, you have two separate businesses for the two SW business cards, correct (e.g. SSN/EIN sole prop)? I don't believe you can get the bonus on two business cards with the same business. Also, if you get the CP this year, you're basically wasting a year of it.

Chase tends to want you to space out your cards by 2-3 months. So, maybe get a different business card now for your fall spend, then get the SW business card in November/December, hit that spend in January 2022 and then get a SW personal card (or 2nd business card with a different business) in early 2022 to complete your CP for 2022-2023. Chase doesn't care as much about manufactured spending, so you can always do Venmo transfers to a trusted family member or friend (who sends the money back to you in a non-Venmo way) if you need help meeting MSRs quickly.

I think you can hold both SW Business cards (for the same business) but only one personal card.

I bought a new ceiling fan last year and never loved it. Then last week the chain (which is the only way I could turn it on and off reliably) broke when I was turning it off. So I just bought a pretty antique white one from Lamps Plus. Used an Amex offer plus got $10 from Dosh (first time I've gotten anything from Dosh since March). And the new fan cannot arrive and be installed fast enough. The old dog and I need air!

Next question. I do not have any Citi Thank You earning cards and I'm thinking of applying for the Citi Premier. I am 2/24 so I have plenty of room for a personal card, but what can you tell me about using Thank You points? I'm interested in this card because it looks like it has a nice bonus and I need a card with 1) no foreign transaction fees and 2) a very nice credit limit, so given the stingy business limits lately, I need a personal card.
I've had Citi cards earning TYP for a couple years. If you're planning a Disney trip, the good news is that you CAN get Disney tix with TYP (you need to call their Cruise department, you won't find them online). Otherwise similar to URs, with booking through a travel portal and transferring to partners.

Thoughts on this Alaska itinerary? Would you choose late May or late June? It’s a smaller ship than we are used but I am thinking we are there to see Alaska and not the ship.

Thanks! Just requested quotes. It’s hard to justify the DCL pricing even with discounted GCs given it is double the price of RCCL. That will cover excursions and transportation.
We did DCL to Alaska and had the same itinerary minus Sitka. Definitely later is better. Bear season is July-September so the later in June, the more likely you'll see bears. I booked most of our excursions through Chase portal with URs. Recommend Juneautours.com for whale watching and Mendenhall glacier in Juneau.

Do you still have the Premier? I read that you can get a statement credit at 1 cpp now. But I don't know if it's targeted. I even saw a DP that the Rewards+ could cash out at 1 cpp, but when I checked mine it was only 0.5.

@punkin You can also pay mortgage and car loans at 1 cpp.

Thanks for the recommendation and the add over on reddit.

I read and researched all weekend. I was thinking that maybe I am too risk adverse to try the MDD. I would be a nervous nelly before, during and even after the fact, always looking over my shoulder. Lol. Not to mention, I'm too lazy to MS and will be meeting the MSR organically, and I'm not sure if I can meet 2 MSRs simultaneously. Our normal spend is $1500-$2000/mth, not including Costco spending ($$$). We have an auto insurance payment of $1700 coming up, so the CSP MSR will be a piece of cake.

I was thinking of having DH applying for a CIC maybe after almost meeting the CSP MSR, if need be.

We just applied for DH's CSP (supported by me) tonight and the CSP approval was ridiculously easy. It was instantaneous and he got an obscenely high CL. It's making me second guess trying for the MDD tomorrow (briefly). How long do people keep both the CSP and CSR open simultaneously? Do you cancel or PC one of them after the bonus hits and you transfer all the UR to the other card? I guess we will decide for sure tomorrow...

I have a feeling that we will stick to the plan on getting the CIC for DH instead. I think the SUB is actually greater for the CIC than for the CSR? $750 (75,000 UR) for the CIC versus 60,000 for the CSR? No matter what, I think he needs to SM to get the CL lowered.

The only attractive advantage of the CSR (for me right now) is the higher PYB redemption. It wasn't a big deal since many categories were going bye bye at the end of September, but now that the rumor is that it is still good until the end of 2021, makes it tempting if I don't want to just hoard UR points...

I think that either DH or I can try to PC our CSP up to a CSR? If we decided we really wanted a CSR (after missing the MDD deadline tomorrow). Obviously no bonuses for doing it this way.

Let me know your thoughts. Have I thought things through? Thanks!!

The SUB for the CSR is less than the CIC, but the spend is also less ($4000 instead of $7500).

You should keep any new card at least a year before canceling or PCing. For the CSP/CSR, you can downgrade to one of the Freedoms (no AF). It's handy to have if you want to upgrade back later on. You would not be able to upgrade either of the CSPs to the CSR until a year is up. So unless you have an old Freedom you can upgrade to the CSR, you wouldn't be able to get the 1.5 redemption until a year later.

It's confirmed that PYB is continuing, but we don't know what the categories are yet.

I think I saw on DoC that the $.01 or point was an error and they're not doing that anymore.

Thanks for the info.

Good point about the higher MSR for the CIC, almost like doing the CSP & CSR MSRs simultaneously. Hmmm...

So, if DH does the MDD, he should keep both Sapphires open together at the same time a year before PCing to a Freedom?

I guess I'm off to look up DP of people that had no trouble with the MDD and those that got in trouble and had Chase shut them down, to help me decide by tomorrow. Haha.

I'm not aware of any shut down reports with a MDD. Worst case it fails and he wastes a hard pull or two. If he does do the MDD, it would be better if his next Chase card is more than the usual 3 months gap. Safer to not be averaging more than one card every 3 months.

Yes, he would keep both Sapphires at the same time.
