If anyone is still sitting on their 10% Lowe's Amex offer, you can buy a $200 vgc in-store and get a $15 Lowe's gc (DoC post), limit 2 exp. 4/28. It works on the lower fee grocery everywhere vgcs too. My local Lowe's restricts customers to one gift card (of any type, any amount) per purchase. Otherwise I would've stacked the $25 off $500 Amex offer as well.

I need to book airfare for 6 for next march and we are in the week that fares will be release for our ideal travel-to date for delta and american (this wednesday is "the" day our date will be added to the calendar.) However, we need to fly in by friday, and I'm not opposed to flying on wednesday, since it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper right now with carriers who have already relased these dates (united and frontier.) I'm not sure how I feel about waiting until September or October for SW's calendar (especially since we are flying for peak spring break week.) I currently have around 120k URs, and we will be getting another 75k by the end of next month as we will be finishing up a msr tomorrow.

I can book Frontier for cash for all of us with luggage and choosing our seats for $912. The points thing (using as cash or converting to miles) is just weird to me, and I've booked hotels with the points, but not flights, and the non-refundable aspect makes me anxious. And after getting "stuck" with frontier 'credits' last spring I'm nervous about having to deal with credits again. Please hold my hand.

DD's computer for college is ordered! I maybe was able to use two Amex offers which should save me about $260. Both offers are about to expire and the computer won't ship for a while so I'm fine if they don't credit but it would be great if they do. Down to 3.5 months until she heads south.

It will be here before you know it! Currently trying to figure out logistics of getting mine moved out and back home. One in 2 weeks and the other in 3 weeks. Not sure how we lucked out that they are not in the same week since we moved them in on the same weekend. DS first day back home will be his 19th bday.

Has anyone used Southwest’s Hawaii Pre-Clear (ideally at SJC)? I’m trying to time our airport shuttle and wondering how much time that will take.

Southwest has announced their next schedule extension release date:

Here's your friendly reminder that Southwest Airlines next schedule release is expected to occur on THURSDAY June 10th. For those planning to snag flights, set those calendar reminders so you don't forget! I'll post additional reminders as the date draws nearer.

  • Currently SW is offering flights through 11/5/21 and this next release will take their schedule out to 1/5/22. This is a very popular release covering Thanksgiving and Christmas and based on history it's slightly later than usual. I'd stay posted as this could get moved up.
Additional info including release timing and such can be found here:

Instant approval on the CSP for P2 this morning. Now I need to decide whether to do the MDD for the CSR or go for the United Quest for P1 before the initial offer for the card goes away in June. We can't meet the MSR for both of the cards. We are looking at both domestic and international travel. Any thoughts?

You were scooped 2 days ago! 🤣

I checked this morning and the price on my SW flights to Orlando for September went down for the second time since booking them - saved 2200 points - not a lot but still worth changing it. And I saw flight schedule opens on June 10th for bookings November 5- January sometime. Don’t know if that was already posted here. If so, sorry for repeating the information. We have a trip in November I am anxious to book next!

Spent a LOT of money on the Orlando Informer Meetup this morning... was frustrated to not have have a MS to put it toward.

We decided to get tickets at the last minute and I was flipping through my cards trying to figure out what to put it on!

Excited for the Meetup though! We did one last December and I’ll never do Universal any other way again!
I was supposed to go in Dec 2020 and decided against due to covid. DH agreed to come this time so I got tickets for Dec 3 & 4. Had to do a lot of refreshing after that to get the discounted rate for RPR. $165 is a great rate. I let my AP expire since I didn't use it enough last year.

Thanks for posting! We are traveling the end of Nov. and it feels like I have been waiting forever to book.
Even better I have June 10th off and can stalk the site all morning.
Fingers crossed for decent fares and good flights times!

We went last December and we were the first night of the meetup. There were some issues that night (no cut through between the parks, long lines for food, looong line for Hogwarts Express because of no cut through). To OI’s credit, they listened to the complaints and found ways to fix those issues for future nights.

I’m just hoping we don’t run into those same issues this time, as we’re doing the November weekend.

DH got that too on his Gold within the past couple days, and the 20K have already posted. That was fast.

Makes me feel better about keeping the card this last time around. I did back in November for an incentive but no go as I had gotten one the year before. Then I forgot about canceling after paying the fee.

I was at work and logged on quick to buy tickets. I was hoping to check out the Hard Rock rate but didn’t have a chance. Sold out now.
Thankfully, we are already booked using URs but I would have paid cash for a good rate and saved the URs for something else.

$165 is a great rate!

DS has requested to go on an Alaskan cruise. Any cruise line recommendations besides Disney? Preference between leaving out and c Seattle or Vancouver?

I would echo what others have suggested and go out of Vancouver rather than Seattle. This will give you more time in Alaska.

I would also consider one way cruises between Vancouver and Alaska rather than a round-trip cruise. You would have more time seeing Alaska and more ports/glaciers.

Rather than picking the cruise line first I would research the cities/glaciers and see which interest your family and then look for cruise lines which offer those destinations. Only Princess and Holland America have cruises which go into Glacier Bay regularly if this is something you want to see. Other cruise lines might visit Glacier Bay but their visit is shorter and they see less of the Bay.

I would also pick a small or medium ship and avoid any large ships. Large ships cannot cruise the inner passage and need to sail out in the Pacific Ocean which is rougher. You may also want to look at the ship plans and pick a ship that has lots of deck space for viewing. Many ships do not have a deck that goes all the way around to make it easier to see the scenery and wildlife.

We chose Princess because of adding their land portion and Glacier Bay. I would have no problem choosing Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, or Norwegian if they offered the itinerary that we wanted. We decided not to cruise on Holland because their clientele being older.

I'm over here sick to my stomach....I can't find $400 in VGC! I bought them during the OM/OD offer 2 weeks ago. I thought they were in my school bag, went to grab them today and I didn't see them. I can't find them anywhere in my house. My kids are both on alert if they come across them. I'm hoping MAYBE I took them out at school this week and MAYBE they are still there. They are still in the package. I've tried to replay all I can remember. But I bought 2 sets of $200 that week. One set is in my wallet. I can't remember the details of which was which at this point.

Does Ally ever offer SUB? I'm all about a good bank bonus!

The sucky thing is, my son was the best player and I think the only one they cut. I might hit up some of the parents after this week to see how tryouts ended up. I did see a post about his team on the hockey boards. Someone was trashing the team, which makes me think maybe another kid got cut, LOL. My DD has been on travel soccer since 6, so I've got 10 years in the hell that is tryouts. This is my son's 4th season trying out for travel. I know that you're never guaranteed a spot season to season. But to be told you're the best player, and then the last month to be told you've been playing your best hockey......:confused3:confused3:confused3
I lost a whole bunch of cards I bought at Safeway. Freaked me out...I found them 2 months later. 😳

Has anyone tried using their Plat to pay at Sak's via Paypal? Do you get both the $50 credit PLUS the $30 Paypal credit?

:welcome: It appears your best bet will be to stick with Chase and UR points. You are looking for bargain international fares for a number of people. More often than not paying with URs via the Chase travel portal with a CSR account will be a better play than transferring the URs to an airline for seats in coach. The CSR will make your points more valuable in the portal at 1.5 vs 1.25. When the time comes to pull the trigger, if you find it would be less points for an award seat on United you can transfer the points 1;1 instantly. In your situation, I would not be getting the United card. My suggestion would be to go for an MDD on the CSP/CSR. Then have P2 go for an MDD on the CSP/CSR. I'd look at getting a CIC, CFF and CFU.

The Chase family of cards allows you to earn more URs at a faster rate via bonus categories. The Freedom Flex has rotating 5x categories for up to $1500 in spend each quarter. DH and I each have 3 Freedom cards for the express purpose of maxing out quarterly bonus categories. That amounts to 60k UR a year with no AF, no hard pull.

A CIC will give you 5x at office supply stores (up to $25K per year spend) which sell gift cards for 3rd party merchants which can get you close to 5x on most of your shopping. Staples and OD/OM often have sales that eliminate the activation fee on VGC and MCGCs which can get you even closer to 5x on all spend. When you are shopping online, you can find many merchants through the Chase UR shopping portal and beef up your URs by shopping through there. We each have the old Ink Plus which is like the CIC for 5x at office supply stores but lets you spend $50k a year in bonus categories. This is the work horse of our UR family of cards.

Hope this helps :flower3:

thank you so much for this detailed reply. I printed out the Glossary from sticky post 3 or 4 and am using it to decipher all the info here. lol. I will need to research how to do the MDD for CSP/CSR a little more; not sure if I should just straight up apply for one of them now or if it is crucial which one of us applies first, etc. thanks for getting me on a specific track. i'll come back and ask more questions if I can't find the answers I need my research

The MDD for both the CSP and CSR seems like a great option for you, if you can meet the double spend. URs can be transferred directly to SW and Hyatt. Plus you get the GE credit with the CSR.

Biz cards are not typically difficult to get. CIC and CIU are both great cards. You need to make sure you complete the app correctly- Biz Name = your name, EIN = your SSN. Many of us have several for our eBay biz, FB sales, etc.

thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I appreciate this information and will focus on the MDD for CSP/CSR

If you ask to join the DISChurners Reddit forum you can find a detailed post on how to do it. Basically, you'll apply for the card you really want first, the day after you are approved you need to apply and be approved for the second card.
