Good point. I'm lazy and don't feel like digging through the old terms, but if they accepted it for taxes before then should be OK I guess? Guess I will have him apply today

Well that's weird. Filled out the application, got the spinny 'verifying your info' message for a while then it went to 'offer unavailable' The information you requested is no longer available. Not sure what to make of that. Hit the 'back' arrow and got - We appreciate your interest in a Chase card product. We have received the information you have submitted. You may close your browser session.

I applied early this afternoon and had the exact same thing happen!!! Weirdest thing ever. But then I got the credit notifications/ alerts. And tonight I got on the biz card site and now there is a 4th card (the new CIU). So yippee?!? Hope the offer is attached and that was a weird glitch with the offer unavailable language/pop up. I have yet to receive any notice at all from Chase.

Yep I see that now. Thanks.

Are there any credits on the Biz Plat now? I know there was shipping last year but I assume that ended.

No special credits now. There are Amex offers for 4x on gas, office supplies, cell, shipping, advertising. That's about it.

I landed the Platicorn! I thought I had lost it because I wanted to wait to hear from you guys before I applied, and when I clicked on the link it said it had expired. So then I did the Card Match again from my phone instead of my laptop, in incognito mode, and it came up again Yay!! Thanks @platamama, @wanderlust7, @miztressuz, and @calypso726 for all the helpful feedback.

Oooh maybe I'll get some of that luxury travel I'm dreaming about!

Would the Blue Cash I've had for a while work for this purpose?

I have a feeling I'll have trouble narrowing down what I'd use MR for, because there's about a hundred places I want to go and really nothing stopping me. (What's that? Pandemic, you say?)

I assume I should wait until I've met the MSR for the AMEX Plat before I start building my UR portfolio?

Congrats! Uber, you need to add it to your Uber account and the credit will show up. You'll need to enroll for Saks and select your airline in the benefits section. For the airline credit, you can check the Flyertalk threads for what currently works. It's supposed to be for incidentals, but there are some other things that work (Southwest is one of the easier ones).

The pop-up is a bit of a mystery. It's to prevent gaming behavior. They don't want you to get a card, get the bonus, and never use it again. But how much spend, who knows. I think having a longer Amex history helps. I suspect not spending on really old cards is okay. I have a really old Amex that I rarely use and it hasn't hurt me.

How long does it take for a FNC from spending $15k on the Surpass take to show up? I hit it in Oct./Nov. but I don't see it on the website and I can't find an email about it. I remember that the tracker on the right of the webpage said Congratulations but now it has switched over to tracking 2021. I hope I didn't delete an important email.

The spend ones usually show up quickly. You should have gotten it by now. Do you see it under these methods? If not, you can call Hilton to ask.

What was bad about Epcot? We are debating our upcoming trip and I'm interested in your review of pandemic Disney!
No characters + no Fastpass + confusing construction walls made for a pretty bad experience.

We walked many many miles to ride 4 things in 4 hours. Soarin and Frozen wait times were posted shorter than the actual by 10-15 mins. We hit SE right at a cleaning cycle and stood around for 10-15 mins as a result. And we skipped Test Track because the wait never got short enough.

It was arrival day for us and we rolled into the park at 3pm. Perhaps we’d have enjoyed our day there more if it was a rope drop with short lines. My guess is a lot of people park hop to Epcot for dinner and we hit that at the worst time.

So 4 rides in 4 hours at Epcot vs MK where we rode 4 things in the first hour.

Don’t want to hijack our CC thread with WDW travel tales but here is what I shared on the “Here Now” thread from our excellent MK day yesterday.

Magic Kingdom report:

Boardwalk bus stop at 7:35 - while waiting we placed our mobile order for lunch

No bus until 8:10 - everybody in line did not fit on the first bus so being early still worked out for us.

Entered park at 8:30 and did rides in this order (all waits were accurate or slightly exaggerated and nothing over 10 ):
  • 7DMT
  • Peter Pan
  • Splash Mt (BTMRR was temp closed at 9am)
  • BTMRR
  • Pirates
  • Magic Carpets
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Swiss Family Treehouse
11:00 - lunch at Tomorrowland Terrace. Sat in lower level seating and were able to get maskless castle pictures as a regular (inside tip) 😉

Resumed rides focusing on things 15 mins or less
  • Little Mermaid
  • Dumbo
  • Pooh
  • Speedway
  • Space Mtn
  • CoP
  • Buzz
2:00 - Dole Whip
  • Country bears
  • Haunted mansion
  • Barnstormer
  • it’s a small world (this was a mistake, 20 mins posted; 35 min actual - should’ve waited until after dinner)
4:15 - main st. shopping break
4:45 - dinner at the Plaza with ice cream for dessert since Ice Cream is closed 😢

The rest of our evening didn’t go well; splash went down right as we got in line. 5 min wait for BTMRR; hurried to Space - posted 10 but was backed up outside the entrance so skipped Briefly stood in 40 min line for 7DMT but opted to prioritize sleep and headed for a bus instead. Girls are going to sleep now for our early DHS day tomorrow.

The only things we missed I believe were Astro, Philharmagic and Tiki room. Easily could’ve accomplished those but we are back Friday and none of those repeat experiences for us so we’ll do them once then and repeat a bunch of the above.

I'm a high school science teacher and I hope it is true that a group of teachers won the jackpot. They so deserve it! I've been doing hybrid learning since Sept...I still remember how I felt the first day. I literally felt like a mack truck hit me and I was living outside my body! Once you get into a routine though, it definitely gets a little bit better where at least you can survive it. My in person class size ranges from 1 to 14 students.

We hadn't been in the school since 3/13/20. I'll say it almost feels like we haven't left. Just frustrated w/ nothing working (we switch IT over the summer). I'm not used to getting up at 6:30am. I was waking up at 10:30am on M/W. So that has been the hardest thing, LOL. Our remote schedule was amazing. And most my classes are only 1-4 in person. Like today I have 4, then 1, then 3, then 2. Like why am I here for that? As for the teachers....I haven't heard anything in awhile, so it'll be interesting to see. I think it's funny because SOOOO many have said, oh teachers totally deserve, while at the same time complaining and forcing us back into the classroom, of course saying remote teaching isn't working. Grrrr!

:welcome: to the group and glad you decided to join us here. Your goals are not too lofty at all in my opinion. I’ve done all kinds of outlandish things thanks to this hobby. If I can do it, so can you. You’ve received some excellent advice already. So I’ll chime in with a few thoughts. When planning international trips and wishing to fly up front in the first class lie flat seats, understanding that there may only be a few award seats made available is critical. So you want to plan at least two years out as a general rule. One year to get the points/miles you need and one year to have them in place ready to book as airlines generally open up booking 330 ish days out. If you are ok flying coach then that is less important. I am married to a Plane Princess, so coach is not an option at Calypso house. He’s an awesome P2 and it’s not like I’m complaining about flying up front either

I’d also suggest building a family of Chase cards that help you maximize the UR earnings on your spending. I have 2 Chase Freedom cards to maximize the 5x quarterly bonuses on each, a Chase Freedom Unlimited for 1.5x all non bonus category spending, 3x on dining and 3x on drugstores and 5x travel purchases through the Ultimate rewards portal.

My workhorse is the Chase Ink Plus which is no longer available but the closest equivalent is the Chase Ink Cash which offers 5x on phone, cable, internet and office supply stores. Office supply stores sell gift cards like Disney, Amazon, retail stores, gas stations, restaurants etc. I try to make all purchases at 5x if possible by buying GCs at office supply stores. I also like to stack earnings where I can by shopping though the Chase UR portal. Example: Buy a Macy’s GC at Office Depot for 5x with my Ink+. Go online and shop at Macy’s through the UR portal which may be at 4x per dollar and pay using my Macy’s GC and I just earned 9x on the pair of jeans I needed or whatever.

Always keep at least one premium fee Chase UR card so you can transfer points to Chase partner airlines or hotels or redeem for travel through the UR portal and making the value of your points .0125 cents each. If you find you will redeem over $1,000 through the UR portal annually then you need to consider keeping a Chase Sapphire Reserve card. The $300 travel credit and the points you save redeeming at .015 vs .0125 actually cover the difference in the fee between any of the $95 cards and the CSR annual fee.

A PLATICORN!!!!If you can still pull up the offer get this card! Even if you have no use for the points at this time it’s a great offer. Wait until the annual fee posts next year to cancel. But before you cancel, make sure you open up an Amex Blue Business Plus card. It won’t affect your 5/24 and has no annual fee. But it will keep you MR rewards alive once you cancel you Platicorn if you haven’t used them yet.

Okay so I need Ireland for St. Patrick's Day 2023 (my shamrock's 18th bday). I've been saving up URs and if I can get the Amex pop up to go away, I'll try for MRs. So is the 2 year to start getting points? Or do I start looking at flights? I think you said we can't book till under a year.

I feel I got mine right away. And I hit my spend in December!

so I just sign up with Amex, get my money back with Amex credit, and get the URs because I went through the portal? and then cancel the membership in a year? and if DH had the same offers, we make double the URs?
I think so.

For us (last week), EPCOT was the best park during the day. Almost no waits for rides but the world showcase got pretty crowded by evening. I wanted to go on the frozen ride, which had little wait all day. But by the time we got there in the evening, it was too long to bother. Those construction walls, though, yikes.

Magic Kingdom was by far the worst. It was Saturday (and not MLK weekend) so I'm guessing that played into it, but I kept wondering if there was a holiday that I was missing because I couldn't believe the number of people. We got there around noon and waits in the afternoon seemed to be around 50 mins for most things. Should have gotten there early, but I had a teen who didn't want to get up early on his birthday. :upsidedow Some areas were super crowded. And rides with long waits that had queues into main walking areas without ropes (I'm looking at you, Haunted Mansion) were a free for all. It was so crowded that people were just hopping into lines at random places, not realizing where the line started. I joked to DS that you know it's bad when the teacups and Mickey's Philharmagic had a wait. :rotfl: It emptied around 7pm (for 9pm closing) and was great then.

DHS wasn't too bad. Though for the first time we did not get a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance at 7am. Had no problem getting one thanksgiving week. Luckily did get one at 1pm. We skipped AK.

ETA: We went on Smugglers Run (I think that's the name, not a star wars fan but DS is) and ended up put with another group of 2, they got the pilot seats so we were in the back. Engineers, I think, but really you do absolutely nothing. So DS wanted another try and we went again. Luckily we were by ourselves that time and able to be pilots. I've got to say, I've been on it several times and never been a pilot (because I have 2 teen boys who always jump in those seats). That ride is way more fun when you're a pilot, I'm going to start fighting them for it from now on. Also, we had a wait in a virtual queue to be able to look at the "legacy lightsabers," that's never happened before. It was quick though.
