Yeah this is pretty shocking I have to say.

So what is the attraction for folks to pay the premium to be on site? Like you I have DVC, but otherwise...
30 minute early entry to any park any day once that starts.
Free Disney Transportation to all parks.
No parking costs if you choose to drive to parks (although there is resort parking costs).
Location Location Location - (as it relates to Deluxes and being able to walk to some parks)
And the Disney Bubble.
60 day FP booking when (if?) that returns.

I don't like the move... but they still have a decent number of onsite benefits it seems.

Don't the good neighbor hotels offer all these items as well at a fraction of the price? Although I guess I still consider the Disney Springs area hotels in the bubble.

On parking - I think that is a wash regarding the resort cost... We always rent a car. My DH does not like to be on anyone else's time schedule while at WDW. Thankful to get that free resort parking with DVC too.

I guess it's all in preference. But those are the benefits - whether they apply to each person or not. We don't know if the Good Neighbor hotels will offer early entry. Maybe they won't get it...

I guess this is true - I hadn't considered the fact that the 30 minute early entry will be rough on off-site guests attempting to rope-drop. As for the free transportation to parks, I guess I figured that more people will rent cars to get to property and then use those as opposed to Disney transport. But then, to your point, they don't have to pay to park at the parks (or at resorts, for DVC members).

Hi All, I have a couple questions (I tried to look for answers on this thread but didn't see it):
1) Hyatt Mattress Run - I got the regular stays. When will the bonus stays be posted and also the points back?
2) Amex Personal Plat - I did the Best Buy, Home Chef and Wine Insiders offers but I didn't get an email to say that I used the offer. Now I'm worried. Did this happen to anyone else but still got credit?
3) Delta Airlines - The flights I booked for April went down by $80 per person. With no change fees, is it okay to just cancel the flights and rebook? Anyone know if it goes into a voucher or does it get refunded?
TIA!

Geez. This is just a bad bunch of news. Hard to see the benefits of staying on site. If we didn't have DVC we'd certainly be rethinking our "always stay onsite" mentality.
We had our first off site stay last month. We stayed at the Doubletree Disney Springs. With no FP or EMH it made sense to try offsite, although that hotel actually would have had those benefits if they had been going on because of being a partner hotel. We did have to pay for parking at the parks which was $25, but had we stayed at a Disney hotel we would’ve paid I think $17/day to park there so not much difference. We always rent a car at the airport so Magical Express isn’t a big loss for us, but I wouldn’t like missing out on the 30 min early entry. Maybe the partner hotels will get that? With Hilton points for the stay we saved sooo much $$ and it was nice being so close to Disney Springs. Will definitely consider it again next time.

Disney’s announcement of says “Disney Resort hotel guests and guests of other select hotels” will get the Early entry perk. So I guess whether the Good Neighbor hotels are included depends on whatever they negotiate with Marriott, Hilton etc.

My thoughts (IMHO)
#1- Probably the only compelling reason to stay onsite and pay extra.
#2- meh
#3-outweighed by the ridiculous resort parking fee
#4-possibly a benefit (but at too high a price in general)
#5-what bubble?
#6-doesn't exist right now. A gigantic hassle to setup when it did exist, but admittedly of benefit when right there in the moment at times.

Went on Sam's this morning to cancel the membership I set up for daughter last year. Wasn't sure how to do it so I called their CS line. They offered an additional 6 months free. So I took it for her.

I then ordered a $50 disney gift card using my Chase Freedom for $47.98 plus the 5x UR's. This card also has the $10 off a $45 membership if some of you get my drift. I'll be watching to see what happens. In any case I will have $4.42 or 8.84% off on the card. No losses. Gift card still hasn't arrived - and oh yes, added myself as a member under her membership.

So, daughter has never gone to the store to get a card, or anything. We've used the account online only. If 'I' go to the store, now that I'm part of her membership, will I get a card? Or will she have to get one first?

You might check out the Sam’s app - I was able to add my membership card to the app (in the form of a scannable card), so now I don’t even need a physical card at the store (at least that’s what I’m assuming - I haven’t tried it out yet).

Still no Best Buy credit on my platinum card. Five days is definitely longer than usual.

Has anyone gotten the credit or are they really taking all the time the terms say they can? Part of why I'm waiting. Sure I can pay but then I end up with a credit 6 months from now instead of the cash I had to pay on the cc this month.

The only benefit that Disney has is those few deluxe hotels that are close enough to walk to the parks, if you stay at a Good Neighbor hotel you get all those perks. I guess let's hope that Disney hotel prices come closer to the Good Neighbor hotels.

Does anyone have experience of using someone else's Bonvoy FNC (or vice versa)? I know they're not technically transferable, but I thought you could add someone else to the ressie, but not sure how you do that? I don't see anywhere online to do that. Thanks!

Wow all these Disney changes. i still haven't even bought flights for my Feb reservation, just can't get excited to go.

Glad we could help! I have zero expectations that the Browns can beat Mahomes. Bills-Ravens should be a good game.

As a Chiefs fan I hope you're right! I think the Browns could be a tough opponent though...

I've allowed my son in law to use my nights so he could enjoy the beach last summer with his daughters, my grandchildren. I've also made reservations for my son and his finance several times. I've probably done this 10 times in the last 2 years or so.

Each time, I've called the hotel directly, day of the reservation, and told them who would be checking in. At least once I said I would be coming later, which I did when doing this with daughter and we were driving separately.

Other than the call, I haven't figured out or been told any other way to do this by the hotels. Each time, check in went smoothly. Oh, and I've done it with nights and points.
