I'm confused about this article.

https://www.wdwmagic.com/events/hol...DoQsnaRK1Fw_8MgGRA_aem_CkOfyGqKHJRXZvr_TY2WhQ

It says: Magic Kingdom is now at capacity for regular dated theme park tickets from December 24 through December 31. Regular ticket holders must choose a different park to start their day between Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.

My Sorcerers pass is blocked out for Christmas, so I bought 3-day tickets (no park hopper) starting December 25.

My understanding is that date based tickets do not need reservations. If Magic Kingdom is already at capacity for December 24-31, does that mean i can't go to Magic Kingdom at all??

I can’t understand it either.

So far the Incredipass is now blocked out for reserving Christmas Day Dec 25.

The article continues on…

Alongside the Passholder reservation fill-up, Magic Kingdom is now at capacity for regular dated theme park tickets from December 24 through December 31.

That means guests holding a standard date-based ticket for any day in that range can no longer select Magic Kingdom as their starting park.

???

I can understand your dismay. Where this news is coming from? It seems really odd that WDW would sell date based tickets for Christmas week only to turn around and say they are not valid at MK. Hopefully tomorrow someone can explain what is going on here.

Is WDW trying to say unless you bought a ticket specifically for MK that week, you cannot enter until 2pm? I’m not finding anything on Disney’s site though.

The article is confusing… if AP is blocked from reserving MK, and Regular date based tickets “must choose a different park to start their day between Dec. 24 and Dec. 31” then , who CAN go to MK?

I don't understand how these date based tickets work.

If you have a ticket that requires a reservation, December 24-31 is blocked out.

But for these date based tickets, you can still buy a multi-day ticket and it does not say anything about not being able to enter Magic Kingdom. You can even still buy a 1-day ticket to Magic Kingdom for December 27, but not December 25.

Ahh, maybe it has to do with other types of tickets that get sold that do require reservations - like Disney Military Salute Tickets, student group tickets, sports and convention tickets, and some Florida Resident special offer tickets?

I think in this situation, the reference to 'date-based tickets' means any ticket that DOES require a reservation now cannot choose MK.

I had a couple of old multi-day park hopper tickets, no expiration (from a trip way back in 2008) that each had one day left. My daughter and I used them last year, but we were required to make a reservation and pick the park/day we wanted to use them. The other days' tickets we had purchased for the trip did not carry that same reservation requirement.

So then this is accounting for anyone with a multi-day ticket who might go to Magic Kingdom on one of those days? I guess that might make sense...

But to clarify the previous poster is saying perhaps it applies a ticket that requires reservations, which is not the case for all date based (or date window) multi day tickets.

You CAN go to Magic Kingdom on the affected dates if you have a park hopper, just not before 2pm and it is subject to crowds. If you don’t have a park hopper or prior reservation, the only way to visit the Magic Kingdom on December 25 will be on ABC.

When I read it, it sounds like any ticket that requires a park reservation is now blocked from making one for MK during Christmas Week, but park hopping may still be available. If your ticket does not require park reservations (I.e., you bought a ticket specifically for MK on a specific day) then you are good to go to MK. They can control the number of MK specific tickets sold for any particular day. They will just stop selling them when they reach some arbitrary capacity number.

Since park and date specific MK tickets typically cost more than the same ticket for other parks, I would think they would have to issue refunds if they blocked those guests from entering MK.

This is how I understood it too - and how it has been for previous years if I’m not mistaken. We have the Incredipass and often travel the week after Christmas. If we had not made our MK reservations for NYE already, we would not be able to now (and also unlikely we’d be able to park hop to MK later in the day - though the article doesn’t state that explicitly - due to capacity issues).

Is it stated you can’t hop until 2:00pm cause they lifted that requirement a while ago? You can tap into your reserved park and turn around and hop if you want, although buses don’t start until 10am. I’m truly asking because have maybe for the busy holiday season, they’ve implemented the 2pm rule again, and I missed it.
