We had a Cars suite and it was pretty awesome. I'd toured the resort when it first opened, and eaten in the food court many times, but never stayed there. It was definitely a fun little staycation. My DS loves swimming currently so having a selection of pools was awesome too.
My Ds hates swimming right now 🙈 lol. I think we’ll get good use out of the playgrounds and splash pad though. He mainly just wants to run. He had his last swim lesson today and he basically cried in all of them.

We’re just doing a quick 3 nights. The reports lately have been kind of bad there. Seems like very long lines and lots of people. I’m hoping things change before September
Our trip is quick for us too. 5 nights. It will be our shortest trip, but it’s long enough to use up our points that are going to expire. I hope the crowds will be down by then too.

I'm also looking for an Ohana ADR. My brother wants to do it but my hubs is meh lol. I'm currently holding a Chef Mickey's Dinner in that place. Decisions, decisions!
Ohana for breakfast? We’re staying at the poly in January and I’m hoping they have the character breakfast

If you plan to go to Acadia National Park, you need to make reservations in advance for Cadillac Mountain, Sand Beach and Thunder Hole. They started requiring reservations a few years ago because there are so many people. I already have reservations for my trip. Last year Cadillac Mt. was booked solid and we weren’t able to do it. Stewman’s Lobster Pound is a great place to eat on the water. We love doing the Nature Cruise. We saw porpoises last time we went. Southwest Harbor is nice too and close to Bar Harbor.
I was on the National parks website and saw Cadillac mountain but didn’t see anything about thunder hole or sand beach. Will have to look further.

Was also trying to see if I could make a reservation for Jordan Pond House.

I changed my entire plan yesterday, so I’ve got to move fairly quickly I know

No for dinner. We are huge fans of the original dinner and my brother still thinks the revised menu is worth a try. I'm in the boat of I want to eat Ohana noodles and wings. My hubs thinks the new menu isn't worth it at all. I currently have a Chef Mickey's for breakfast and dinner on the same day lol.

The shrimp casserole seems very weird to me lol. I’ve never been a huge ohana fan anyway though. We’ve eaten there once and I’m good not to go back

This year we just reserved Cadillac Mountain.
I was second guessing myself about Sand Beach but I found our reservation under past reservations. However, I can’t find where to reserve it now. They called it a 19 Day Pilot last October. Maybe they decided not to continue with reservations for Sand Beach. I’m not sure how it would work anyways. I don’t think people left when their reservation time was over. We didn’t need reservations for Jordan Pond but it’s very hard to find parking there. I suggest you go early (before lunch).

I never boarded the GrAAvy train. What is the deal with Citi AA cards now? Fine to get a personal and a biz? I did get a biz about 2 years ago but DH never got either. Can you get the bonus again after 24 months? I need a new card ASAP and thinking this may be good. Was also thinking about the 80,000 TYP one but every time I look into thank you points they seem confusing. Unless there is a good Amex deal out there? I have none. Well the bonvoy biz only. I have some big upcoming spends. I’m trying to lay low with chase right now. DH just did the MDD CSP/CSR in may and I got he IHG not long before that.

Porkys food truck if it is still there.
Duane's Ono Char Burger eat with the chickens
Merrimans Kauai and do a hike after lunch or before
I am biased but Tidepools at the Hyatt.
Captain Andy's Na'Pa"li coast sunset dinner

Thanks so much for the recommendations. Tidepools is definitely on our list since it will be so convenient (plus we liked it years ago when we went). I will look up the rest online. I have seen both great and terrible reviews for Merrimans.

So far I have 3 nights in bar harbor to visit Acadia national park. This is just at a little motel, booked through the UR portal. It claims it just bought by new owners and the rooms have all new interiors since April. Not fancy, but clean, walking distance to bar harbor and a mile from the 3 to Acadia. then 3 nights at the Sebasco harbor resort which looks awfully nice. Trying to hunt down 2 nights in Boothbay harbor and a reservation for the cabbage island lobster bake.

A different trip than Disney, but hopefully fun. I rescheduled Disney to spring break in hopes things will really be normal by then. Bonus of far better weather than august.

If anyone has suggestions for Acadia or bar harbor, I’d love them.

I don't have anything specific to recommend, but DD spent a summer in Bar Harbor doing research and she and her cohort spent many weekends hiking in Acadia. She says it's absolutely spectacular and one of her favorite places.

Final Reminder - Old threads are now being removed - thanks!

Ack! I'm not ready. Life is... busy here. Will I be able to find my old posts to copy them when things slow down? (Hoping the answer is yes since I don't want to try to recreate them).

Chicago, Dallas or Nashville with a 14 year old? If Dallas, can we get to Centurion Lounge from SW? And any recommendations for things to do?

DD and I found ourselves in Chicago the summer after 9th grade, so I think she was the same age as your son. She loved it. We didn't do much shopping (she's not a shopper) but we went to the Bean, the big art museum and the science museum, the beaches, toured both UChi and Northwestern, and of course took the architectural river cruise (the highlight of our visit according to her).

dont forget about Barclay AA if u need AA miles... i think they have a promo of where u spend one transaction for 60k miles. believe u need to grab the application on a flight for that one though.

Ok, really stupid question here (not CC related but y'all are nicer than the rest of the boards) I have MDE account, and have DH and DS listed because I manage everything. DH has an account but has never used it. My MDE uses his full name, while his uses a nickname. Is it possible for him to add DS and me to his account or somehow link so he could try for RoTR boarding group? Tickets are on my MDE.
DH’s account won’t have a ticket since the ticket is linked to the name under your account.
I think it’d be easier to just go with having you, DH and, if he has a device, DS log into your account. And all try from the same account.
When we went in April I had 5 people logged into my account trying for ROR. We tried 3 days and got BGs each time, all lower than 10.

I like that idea. I was actually thinking of maybe the Cape in September after Labor Day. I was reading on the camping board and looking at a lot of pictures of lobster rolls. And clam strips and fries, plus the beaches.
The Cape in September is fabulous!
I’m a New Englander who doesn’t like seafood, but my kids LOVE lobster rolls and clam strips. In fact, we’re heading to the cape in the morning and I think both of those dishes are in our near future.

Can I go to out of state bank branches to get special in branch offers for checking, savings, and credit cards

Help! My beloved LL Bean suitcase bit the dust on the way back from Hawaii today. I don’t love the design of their replacement. Any suggestions for a good carryon suitcase? I’m very picky - I liked that the LL Bean was carryon sized but could be unzipped to increase capacity. I REALLY also liked that you could pack stuff in both sides of the suitcase when it’s open, as opposed to it being just one large section in the bottom and then the top just acts as a cover and zips closed (if that makes sense). Any suggestions on a good replacement that won’t break the bank? I don’t mind investing in a good bag, but don’t want to spend crazy money. ($200-250 tops??)
