Amex DP on my Platinum travel credit. Because of a SW schedule change I cancelled a prepaid car rental reservation. My Amex was credited the next day and the credit was clawed back almost immediately. So I still have $130 to spend by the end of the year--maybe another SW flight that I cancel.

Also, still trying to spend my $200 airline credit on my business platinum. I don't know whose name to make the ticket in. I'm thiking DS. I should have timed my other purchase better (closer to the end of the year) so I could have used the travel funds for Christmas next year.
I'm still debating if I'm going to use either or both. I'd do it on delta, which I fly, and am planning to visit my bff in SLC at some point next year but I worry if I don't that it's just a waste. It's a waste not to use it too. Just don't want to waste a dl gc I already have and then not use the credits.
I wasn't sure what to do with that either, especially with 3 flights already booked with points. I ended up just doing it all under my name. I had $400 to do and I didn't want to put it under more than one person not knowing how much a flight we would want would cost. I was afraid that if the flight was say $250 and two of us had $200 credit, I'd have to spend $$. I'd rather end up losing a little. And if it means that I have to book a last minute trip next year, that's okay:)
I stacked DH's travel credit with a FHR offer on a prepaid (but fully refundable) hotel reservation and ended up having to cancel it. The FHR credit got clawed back but the travel credit still hasn't been and it's getting to be almost a month since cancelling. I don't know if it's a fluke or what, but his cc still has a negative balance for the travel credit.

This morning I bought SW tix in DD's name for the biz plat credit. I'm really hoping it will credit for 2020, dps indicate it's taking 3-5 days to post on average. I didn't want to cut it too close to the end of the year (and covering Christmas travel dates) because I don't know how Am Ex handles it if the credit doesn't post until 2021 (I don't want to lose out on 2020 credit!). Remember that SW allows up to 3 payments on one ticket. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you combine SW TTFs and then cancel, the entire amount inherits the earliest expiration date (which is lame grrr). So I bought two $99 tickets that I can combine for a one way ticket leaving room for a 3rd form of payment (probably my Biz Plat's 2021 airline credit) if it exceeds $198. And if it's less than $198, I might lose some of that TTF value but I'm ok with that.

I have one credit to use, on SW. Am I correct that I don't need to use a GC but can just purchase the flight (for under the credit amount)? I'm thinking DL required use of a GC while SW does not, but it's been a while since I've thought about this.

Amex Platinum travel reimbursement dp. Purchased SW ticket 12/12 and credit issued 12/15. Three more to buy:)

I quoted a bunch of posts about using the airline credit on the AmEx Platinum personal card. I have 2 to use, but don't really understand the method being used here. I had read about being able to do something with Delta, but if I can get a SW credit, I would prefer that. Is there somewhere that spells out what is being talked about here? Thanks for any help!

Flyertalk has the most up-to-date information--there's a thread for each airline. If you haven't used any of the credit on a card, you should be able to message AmEx and have them change the airline you've selected. IIRC, you are only supposed to be allowed to change in January but if you haven't used any of the credit, AmEx should be willing to change it for you even after.

I just made a comment on Dischurners if you want to check it out.

Good news- I logged in to see my paycheck today and there extra money in it! Turns out our hospital gave us a 1% bonus this year. It is an unexpected surprise because they had previously said no bonus this year. Spring hit the hospital hard and closed down for everything that was non COVID.

Bad news- Dh just informed me last night as I was about to fall asleep that MIL will be stopping by for Xmas dinner. What!? He doesn’t understand that having dinner with a guest is different than preparation for just your family. Plus, hello covid bubble?

I bought two $98 one way tickets with just my Platinum card (two separate transactions) and both were reimbursed.

I'll send a dm.

I want to get a new card before the end of the year but I can't decide which one. I am thinking one of the two Freedom cards for the grocery bonus deal. Which one do you all like better? Are there any special considerations to having a mastercard that I haven't thought of? Never had one.
I got the CFF partly because of the cell phone insurance it offers if you pay your bill with it.

Is anyone else not getting spending alerts from Chase and AmEx? I have my cards set up to send me an alert whenever the cards are used but I haven't gotten any alerts in the past few days (and I know I have used the cards). Is this perhaps a holiday thing?

I am slammed at work, ugh, so nothing fun like that for me. I did just have fudge delivered to me by the mailman though, from one of my loan officers.
Dh just informed me my present won't be here, so he is upset. I said it's totally fine, it just extends Christmas. We weren't even supposed to buy for each other, he broke the deal LOL.
We are also in the middle of a nasty nasty blizzard!
Hope you are safe and don't have to go anywhere, I'm very glad my mother drove out from MPLS on Tuesday, no way she would get out now. One of my friends from high school lives across 62 from MSP, she has 2 feet in her backyard.

On SW, generally any flight less than $100 will be credited. It used to be that you could use the credits for GC on either DL or SW, but that ended a couple years ago. The AMEX algorithm doesn't recognize flights under $100 as airfare, which is ineligible.

Tomorrow will be my 40th Christmas, and the 3rd that I'm not with my Grandmother. My wife and I made the decision a while ago that unless she called and begged us to come we were not going to see her this year. Although we are being as safe as we can, there is no way I could ever assuage the guilt if my grandmother got sick and died and there was any chance, no matter how small, that I caused it. We are now planning an Easter trip. My mother is here with us and then will be going to my grandmother's to be her caretaker for the month of January.

The roads were soooooooooooo bad. Several freeways were closed. Dh made it home safe, but it took a long time. He said it was terrible. I have no idea what we got, it's all drifted, so there is grass peeking out in one spot and two feet right next to it. The pile that the plow left in our yard (we live at the end of a culdesac) is easily 10 feet high. Ick. And now it's -6, feels like -24.

I had an odd situation occur and was wondering if anyone else had this happen. Yesterday while reviewing my Aeroplan Visa I noticed (what I thought) was a charge for $104.59. I called the company because I haven't purchased anything from them. They said it was a credit and it was a mistake. They said they would be putting through a charge for $104.59 today to wipe out the credit. It doesn't make sense to me how they could 'have a system glitch' give me a credit and it really concerns me that they had my credit card info stored from a transaction.

I got the 100k offer to come up. But I got the pop-up once I hit submit on my app. I'm gonna guess still not happy I closed my Hilton Biz in October. I have 3 active Amex (Everyday, Delta Gold Biz and Hilton Surpass). All have gotten spends, esp the Surpass as I was on a blitz to hit the FNC. So it's onto Chase I go!
Thank you. I only have 2 Amex cards, so have never seen the pop-up. I just figured that if you got the offer, you were golden (or platinum :D )

Yeah no. I WISH! I was really wanting the triple dip! I did it with the Aspire. But no such luck w/ the Plat. UGH. I'm now trying to decide if I wanna try cancelling m IHG premier and going for that again (with the 140k SUB) or if I just want to try for the free IHG and settle with 100k. I don't want to cancel and then be locked out of the card all together. It's the card I use for cellphone protection right now. Plus I did just pay the AF in October. I think keeping the cell phone coverage probably outweighs the extra 40k right now.

I know everyone seems to love Hyatt, so I'm wondering what am I missing there? I even ask the BF how often do they stay in Hyatt's while flying, LOL. I just don't feel like places I go have Hyatt options as much. That said, it could be because it's not on my radar as well.

I just checked my Amex gold again. I purchased a flight that was $79. I only got a $2.60 credit. Should I even bother testing out my Platinum?
Bummer it has been working for others and not me. Have $300 left between the two cards.

Hyatt doesn't have a huge footprint like Marriott or Hilton. My DH had Hyatts where he stays regularly (not this year of course) so a hyatt card makes sense for him, particularly with the new bonuses.

I thought you could get the 140k ihg offer if you held the older $49 Af card?
