Which reminds me, half of my Saks order didn't arrive and rather than re-placing the order, the CS rep preferred to refund the money to Amex card.
So if I don't reorder, will I lose the remainder of my $50 credit?

Their customer service is the worst. I ended up ordering an item that more than used up the credit from saks and amex so hopefully it'll all stay good. Nothing has clawed back yet. It doesn't say it has to be in one transaction. But yeah if they posted the credit and then see you got a refund they'll most likely take back part of it.

Okay I hit the $5k Bonvoy spend. Debating which card to do now. Is the 100k Amex Plat still out there? I was denied (popup) earlier, but maybe it's worth trying. Otherwise I guess I'll use my last slot on the IHG card since I want to reload those points.

In big adult news....I just submitted paperwork for my passport FINALLY! I've only been saying I'll do it for 3 years now! But with the pilot BF and Spirit flying to Mexico (and South America) he's mentioned a few times enjoying trips to both locations. So I guess next up will be using the GE credit I have on one of my cards (I'll have to looks when my Precheck resets on my CSR).

And I guess off to check the Amex Plat offer....
And the dreaded pop-up! Damn you Amex!!!!

I was looking to see when the last successful Amex Plat was, and to provide some tips for success ... but wasn't fast enough.
For anyone else, here is a successful Plat on Dec 13th, and it links to some suggestions I made.

Amex DP on my Platinum travel credit. Because of a SW schedule change I cancelled a prepaid car rental reservation. My Amex was credited the next day and the credit was clawed back almost immediately. So I still have $130 to spend by the end of the year--maybe another SW flight that I cancel.

Also, still trying to spend my $200 airline credit on my business platinum. I don't know whose name to make the ticket in. I'm thiking DS. I should have timed my other purchase better (closer to the end of the year) so I could have used the travel funds for Christmas next year.

Wow, where the heck is everyone LOL?

sitting at work with a headache, counting down the hours until my Christmas vacation, trying to figure out how (besides VGCs) to turn my DH’s CSP SUB into $$$ to max out our 2020 retirement contributions

also pondering what card to get next

literally doing anything except attack my pile of filing to do 🤣 I’ve already almost filled the shared office shredding box with old tax returns.

I'm still debating if I'm going to use either or both. I'd do it on delta, which I fly, and am planning to visit my bff in SLC at some point next year but I worry if I don't that it's just a waste. It's a waste not to use it too. Just don't want to waste a dl gc I already have and then not use the credits.

I wasn't sure what to do with that either, especially with 3 flights already booked with points. I ended up just doing it all under my name. I had $400 to do and I didn't want to put it under more than one person not knowing how much a flight we would want would cost. I was afraid that if the flight was say $250 and two of us had $200 credit, I'd have to spend $$. I'd rather end up losing a little. And if it means that I have to book a last minute trip next year, that's okay:)

UPS just delivered someone's ornament from shutterfly to me. I'm in a different state. I think I'll go to a UPS Store and see if they won't reship it.

I had this happen with a shutterfly mug a few days ago. I ordered 3 but got 4. The label on the wrong one is a duplicate of one of the correct ones, so I have no way to contact the rightful owners. I don't know what to do with it. Mine were delivered by usps.

So DH called shutterfly. They're sending me a shipping label to return the ornament to them because the UPS Store wouldn't take it without postage (which I was not going to pay).

I stacked DH's travel credit with a FHR offer on a prepaid (but fully refundable) hotel reservation and ended up having to cancel it. The FHR credit got clawed back but the travel credit still hasn't been and it's getting to be almost a month since cancelling. I don't know if it's a fluke or what, but his cc still has a negative balance for the travel credit.

This morning I bought SW tix in DD's name for the biz plat credit. I'm really hoping it will credit for 2020, dps indicate it's taking 3-5 days to post on average. I didn't want to cut it too close to the end of the year (and covering Christmas travel dates) because I don't know how Am Ex handles it if the credit doesn't post until 2021 (I don't want to lose out on 2020 credit!). Remember that SW allows up to 3 payments on one ticket. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you combine SW TTFs and then cancel, the entire amount inherits the earliest expiration date (which is lame grrr). So I bought two $99 tickets that I can combine for a one way ticket leaving room for a 3rd form of payment (probably my Biz Plat's 2021 airline credit) if it exceeds $198. And if it's less than $198, I might lose some of that TTF value but I'm ok with that.

I’m having a little pity party for myself right now. Saturday I was with my three adult children and four grandkids visiting and dropping off gifts, because my one daughter who works in a hospital didn’t feel comfortable being here for an extended time on Christmas Day. We were together for about an hour, all fully masked. (The two other kids are in my “bubble.” One lives one house away, so I see them often, and the other lives in town and is working from home.)

Welp, the one who lives practically next door has Covid. Pretty sure he got it from work. It’s considered a low risk exposure because we were masked, but still. In fact, my daughter notified her manager at her hospital, and she is still allowed to work. My employer, a school, told me to stay home today. His household, which includes three young boys, is obviously quarantined. I’ll likely be alone for Christmas. I’ll still cook dinner and drop it on their porches, but man, this year totally stinks.

On the other hand, I am incredibly grateful for many things, and in the grand scheme of things, this is just a blip. We plan on zooming Christmas morning. Pity party over.

Ugh. I’m sorry.

I want to get a new card before the end of the year but I can't decide which one. I am thinking one of the two Freedom cards for the grocery bonus deal. Which one do you all like better? Are there any special considerations to having a mastercard that I haven't thought of? Never had one.

Sorry! I'll join you in the pity party. We told our 2 west coast kids not to fly home for Christmas. DD in San Francisco was feeling lonely since her 2 roommates both went home, so she got a covid test and then flew to Hawaii to stay with friends who have rented a house there for 6 months. She sent me a picture, it looks beautiful. Oh to be 25 and carefree.

To me it comes down to the rotating 5% categories vs 1.5% on everything. I have 2 regular Freedoms with the 5%, so went for the Unlimited. Some quarters I do better with the 5% than others.

Oh no...so sorry...this is such a weird year...I was stressing for the last week if my son was coming home for Christmas, since someone in his office tested positive so until he tested negative yesterday morning after a week we didn’t know if he would be able to....

That's very nice of you. I had a Shutterfly order go missing, delivered to the wrong house. I remember being upset since it was a gift. Fortunately the post man found out where it was delivered and retrieved it. He said the people just had it sitting on the table, hadn't done anything with it.

Sadly this is Christmas 2020. We aren't seeing in-laws at all. My sisters family is part of our "pod" as the kids share a tutor. I can't be near my mom though since she has COPD and immune disorder. I may stay a couple minutes on Christmas to drop off DS (he will wear a mask while there) but we usually have a big brunch then open gifts. FWIW, the rehab unit at the hospital I work at keeps having outbreaks despite every worker and patient being tested twice weekly. It's hard to go anywhere and not be exposed.

I got the 100k offer to come up. But I got the pop-up once I hit submit on my app. I'm gonna guess still not happy I closed my Hilton Biz in October. I have 3 active Amex (Everyday, Delta Gold Biz and Hilton Surpass). All have gotten spends, esp the Surpass as I was on a blitz to hit the FNC. So it's onto Chase I go!

I wouldn't mind the CIC or CIU but I was freaking out over hitting a $5k spend at Christmas time, there's no way I'm hitting $7500 unless I'm MSing and my Staples has been out of VCGs all the time. The only way I could hit that spend would be the downpayment on DD's car. But that won't be likely until March/April. So I guess I sit out a business card for now.

Does anyone know how often you can churn the IHG premier card? I was going to do the free card but I'm wondering if I can cancel the premier card and reapply for that. I got that card in 10/2018. I looked on flyertalk and there aren't any DP.

Sorry about not seeing your in-laws and your mom.

Stay safe! My daughter is currently working in a Covid unit, and oddly there have been far fewer infections of staff there, because they are so cautious and covered from head to toe. There have been more staff getting Covid in units like the ED, trauma, labor and delivery because patients in other units are tested before they come in if possible, and before any procedures, whereas those other units don’t have that opportunity.

Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccines.
