so DS was denied on CSP today,(prob due to income requirement) how long do we have ot wait to app for the flex? can we try today?

i would suggest wait for the letter first before apping for another card. But there isnt any rule for personal cards... u can just apply right away if you want.
30 days is more of a courtesy/spacing idea.

I think I'm going to go ahead and apply for the Marriott Bonvoy Biz. I've done a lot with Chase, so think it might be good to do a bit with Amex.
Also k - why not? Is there any downside to applying. It won't effect my 5/24, right?

Depends on your amex status. if u have no amex cards, then apping for one will destroy any chances of getting targetted for the 100k plat. Also i think they might hard pull if u dont have any amex cards. thats about the only big downside unless ur on the other end of the ruler where u already have 5 amex credit cards. Bonvoy Biz will take up one of 5 slots(or 4 slots now).

Not a downside, but just be aware that you won't be eligible for the Chase Bonvoy cards for 24 months.

No downsides, just remember that the Platinum won't take affect until Feb 2021. I applied a few weeks ago.

That's a great point I forgot about.

Yup, the 100k offer is gone. I used to get the mailers all the time. Then I got a Hilton Biz and the mailers stopped. The Hilton Biz is my only Amex, I’ve had it just over a year. I got a $50 retention offer and paid the AF. I put a bit of spend on it every month.
Amex counts the Biz cards in the 5 card limit?

Amex has credit cards and charge cards. Charge cards are the Green, Gold, Platinum (and Plum), whether personal or business. These don't have preset credit limits. Credit cards are everything else. Credit cards are currently limited to 4 (some people can get away with 5). Charge cards are limited to 10.

Has anyone used the My Chase Plan option on their credit card? Thoughts and tips? I can't find a lot of info on it. Long story short: We got slapped with a large unexpected medical bill and they won't take our CareCredit card. And if I can pay it off in installments via Chase instead of taking a large chunk out of our e-fund I would prefer to do that.

First off, so sorry to hear about the unexpected medical bill :/ never fun and I hope everyone is okay!

I’ve never used MyChasePlan but my understanding of it is that the rate you pay is on the initial amount and doesn’t decrease as you pay off the balance, which makes it pretty expensive. I totally get not wanting to dip into an emergency fund, but I would also posit that this is exactly what an emergency fund is for, and if you “pay yourself back” monthly instead of Chase, you’ll likely come out ahead in the long-run.

That being said, I obviously have no insight into your individual, personal financial situation so please do whatever makes the most sense for you and your family!

For some reason I think serial numbers are on receipts for Apple products but I may be remembering it incorrectly. Even AirPods from amazon had the serial number on my invoice.

Honestly if you aren’t going to open it i would just wait. Can’t imagine there won’t be A better deal.

Interesting thread. I received the iPad today. There is no receipt. No packing slip. Nada. The emails I got (both at purchase and when shipped) only list the item, no serial number. Even logging into my Walmart account and looking at my order, there is no serial number.
Maybe it's a Target thing but I also think they no longer send packing slips either. One of my recent shipments included a note saying they no longer send them.

I applied for a CSP on November 1, and received "thank you for your request, we need to review your request a little longer." Today I called the status line which said that I should have the answer "in approximately 2 weeks." I understand that usually means you will be approved. Does anyone know how to speed up the process? I have a bill for flooring that was just installed, and now I need a new garage door and would like to put that on CSP. Can I ask them to expedite a card that hasn't been approved yet?

Yesterday I applied for a CSP and got the same message - 2 weeks.

Before that, they gave me an option to include more income or to call them. I messed up right on the spot and didn't take down the number to call. I chose not to list my other income sources.

So, after I got the two week message I called Chase and got myself transferred to reconsideration. They first asked for my other income source and if I owned my home and maybe one other question. I asked them if they could reallocate credit from one of my other Chase cards. I already knew the amount of credit I had was well above 50% of the income I listed.

She asked me which card I wanted to transfer the credit from and approved me immediately. So, from actual Application to Approval was about 20 minutes. I literally refreshed my account and there was my new card! Another interesting thing she said - if I wanted to put some of the credit back to the donation card, I could now do it. Wasn't necessary as they just took 5K.

Then I got myself transferred to customer service to get the card expedited. They said okay, 3 days

So, if you have extra credit lying around or extra income you can add (I choose not to tell them everything), definitely call and talk to them. The person I spoke to really seemed to want to get me approved quickly, and I was pretty sure my issue was the amount of credit I already had extended to me.

So, I always intended to apply for the CSP after the 80k offer showed up. Was dragging my feet on it, while enjoying being under 5/24, which I still am. But then my heat went out this past weekend and due to the part(s) that failed I need a new furnace. Combine that with I also need new air. Was going to put air off until April, but after getting quotes, I got a significant discount to do the whole job together.

Still, the whole job would have taken care of a MDD, but I left that money on the table. And, the contractor was willing to take 2 cards for the entire cost- I don't have the CSP yet, so put a deposit on a 2% card. I expect to get the CSP at least by Friday and installation is next Monday with permit inspections on Tuesday. So I probably didn't need to expedite, but did it anyway. Credit cards alone have saved me in the 1K range on this job. And, my dear tech suggested I ask for a senior discount - who knew I could get that on a furnace and ac unit?

Meanwhile I collected 2 more heaters (one was mine from my daughters house plus another of theirs) as it was cool last night. But, it's going back up to 70ties in my area for the next week so, I'm good to wait til Monday for CC arrival and installation.

Thanks for the info! Looks like we won't be doing the Chase thing. Yes, we're all good now. Nothing serious but had to see a specialist and 3 PT sessions which we were told would be completely covered by insurance, but later found out the they weren't. So to get a bill for almost $2k was quite the sticker shock.

Oh I totally agree about the e-fund and that's also what my father said to me, but there's still that part of me that's going "no I worked so hard to build that e-fund up! There must be another way!" But I think I just need to come to terms with using the e-fund and then working to build the fund back up again.

Might not hurt to talk to the PT regarding those visits. If it wasn’t a deductible issue, they might work with you on a cash rate. Might be a smaller hit to the e-fund!

Any Universal experts here today? I need help., we will be at Universal for 4 nights but have 5 day tickets.. We arrive super late on Tuesday 11/24, I booked us a room at the Marriott element near by and plan to get up early to checkin at HRH the next morning, I figured we would get up early grab breakfast and be at HRH before the 9AM opening but I just check and now they are opening at 8AM with 7AM early admission to BOTH parks. Which park should we visit first? I'm thinking Universal Studios since we probably won't get to the park until closer to 8, I will try to get us there by 7:45 so we can at least get in before the normal crowd.
Then on Thanksgiving start at IO to ride Hagrid's, I'm guessing we'll have to be out the door by 6:15, it also happens to be DD's 10th bday.
Is this a good plan? Any tips are appreciated. Any good blogs that will have good touring plans?

I know I have seen a couple of complaints on FedEx here, but you guys have got to look at this tracking. Make sure to expand and see the entire history, including the date it was sent. This is an order I am returning to Love Your Melon. They refunded me already, but this is just insane!

That's crazy. The place in New Berlin is some sort of hub apparently. Stuff from east coast comes to me through Indiana (or TN if from SE) through IL to New Berlin then back to me in Chicago burbs. Seems ridiculous to me but I guess it (usually) works for them.
ETA I don't even get how it went to Indianapolis in the first place. Romeoville is SW of Chicago.

SO this is new..... he got a letter of explanation in SM today....never seen that before! Basic reason was not a long enough credit history and not enough income combined. Interesting how the rules have tightened since he got CiP last November...

Successful MDD for CSP yesterday and CSR this morning! :cool1: Both automatically approved (lots of extra credit line available and very little recent activity, so they should have been easy approvals). Now off to spend 8k. Just once, I would like to have trouble meeting my msr. Somehow, extra expenses always magically appear. pixiedust:

Shoot! Now I'm really torn on what to do. I think I'll still go for it.
But just want to double check - If I apply for the Amex Bonvoy Biz today, will that effect when I can apply for my next Chase card? Is the 3 months between cards, just for Chase, meaning I could apply next week for the CIC?

Hello All!
I lurk here occasionally and I just was inspired to apply for the CSP based on the post from SouthFayetteFan reminder that the 80k offer would likely be going away soon. I got the we'll let you know soon message. I am 2/24 if business cards count in the total and 1/24 (now 2 or 3/24 after this application), but I am guessing that the reason for the let you know soon is because of the limit to income ratio, currently at around 45%. Current utilization is around 5% which is paid off in full each month. Do you think I should call and ask about moving around my limits instead of waiting for them to make a decision? I have a large spend coming up in the next week that would be awesome to use toward the MSR so I kind of want to push along the decision so that I can make that purchase ASAP.

What are your thoughts? Thanks again for all of the help.
