Almost was too late product changing my very old (25 yrs!) Slate card to a second Freedom. I thought I had read the cutoff was tomorrow, but when I called to request it this morning, the customer service rep said it wasn’t on his list as something I could pc to. He said he’d try to override it, and thankfully he did.

I’m hoping for 5x in home improvement stores next year, and/or
groceries. I’m really hoping to gift my family a cruise this Christmas for next Christmas (if things are safe by then. Go away Covid!) and plan on buying Carnival gift cards for the points to pay for part of it.

I tried looking back at the other posts but I didn't see an answer so sorry if this is a repeat question. I have the original Freedom Card. Can I just apply for the CFF or do I need to PC that card? I'm way under 5/24.

Yes, if that's what you want, it should be no problem if you are under 5/24 and haven't very recently applied for any Chase cards. You do not need to PC.

A few more ways to save on Carnival cruises:

- Allstate Rewards has discounted gift cards. Usually 10% off, but right now it's 12%. You don't have to be an Allstate customer. You need their reward points to buy the GC, but it's easy to rack up a bunch by getting codes that people share on Cruise Critic. These GC are mailed.

- Raise also has Carnival GC and you can get Raise cash. Percentages vary, but I last got them at 10%. Since it's Raise cash and I just use it to buy more Carnival GC, the actual discounted % is slightly less. But they e-mail it, so it's fast.

- Amex Offers every so often has promotions for spend $500 get $100, or some other amount, but it always seems to come out to 20%. Whenever those come out, I'll pay off some of my cruise for that exact amount.

so far, it seems like you can apply for a CFF... but one thing ppl will mention is, is it worth a hardpull and x/24 slot for it? Believe the SUB is only 20k UR.

Has anyone been to Curaçao? We are gong to Aruba and I thought it might be nice to pop up to Curacao since we have the time. But it is worth the prop plane ride and AA flight home?

For the 5x points for the sign up bonuses on the CFU or CFF, I know it doesn't include Walmart, does that include Walmart Grocery pickup?

This is exactly why I will be going PC route. I already have a Freedom and I PCd the CSR to a second Freedom. I hadn't seen Doc's post about the ability to PC directly to a CFF and was going by the FM blog post where Chase said it would only be possible from a Freedom. I will PC my old Freedom to a CFF. By late December I will be both under 5/24 and 48 months past earning a bonus on the CSR. So, I will be applying for a CSP. A CFF and 20k URs isn't worth the 5/24 or the hard pull for me. I'd rather go after 60K points with the CSP MSR.

We were there on a cruise stop that also went to Aruba and Bonaire. It was fine for a cruise stop, but I wouldn‘t bother hopping. How long are you gong to be in Aruba? We were on Aruba the first week of March at the Stellaris and the Renaissance. Loved it.

So I recently completed the MDD for the CSP and CSR. I noticed that a recent travel credit was already applied on my CSR...but it was for our groceries. It's even coded as groceries. We do order online and use the curbside pick up service for our grocery store and they use instacart. Is my online grocery order going to continue to use up my travel credit?:confused3

This year (due to COVID) grocery purchases (and gas I believe) will also qualify towards the $300 travel credit.

Thanks. I am playing with 15 days at Christmas. This was supposed to be our HI trip but it looks the timeshare we were supposed to visit is not opening so back-up plans. I currently have 5 nights at the Hilton. Do you have a preference between the Marriott and Renaissance? Maybe we can give it a try also.

Wow! Thank you!

I haven't used the UR shopping portal before and I'm a bit confused. I looked up fanatics on cashbackmonitor because I'm thinking of using my amex offer. The best payout right now says 3 ur/$ with chase (freedom) it's only 2 with the saphhire. Does that just mean I need to access the portal through my freedom, all my cards are on the same log in and I don't even know how to get to the portal.

Also, can I use am amex if I'm shopping through chase's portal? Maybe I should just wait for a better offer. I'm not even sure if the sale I was looking at the other day is still going on.

Yes, just pick your Freedom card to access the UR portal. You'll see different earn rates on shopping just like you get different benefits depending on what card you use to access the portal. In the UR menu you'll see "Earn bonus points" and that takes you to the shopping portal.

You can use other methods of payment, but if it doesn't track for some reason I think there's not much recourse. I think you're meant to use a Chase card but it tracks without it.

I haven't been in years, but when I went about20 years ago it was absolutely lovely. Nice beaches on one side of the island. Interesting terrain on the other and a lovely colonial capitol with Interesting shops and architecture.
