I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I just checked in with my mom. They have no AC, no fridge, no TV. Some lights. Consumers Energy says their power is on. She's renting a car tomorrow (not sure if they're going somewhere). Trying to figure out how to help from 900 miles away.

Sounds like they lost 1 leg of their service feed. Anything 220V is not going to work (Stove, AC..) and half the house that breakers are on that side. If this is the case I would call the power company back and describe this so they come look.

Just a note for those that are using Kroger Pay through the Kroger app. I added a credit card to Kroger Pay so I could pay contactless in the grocery store. I used it about 3 times, but the cashiers didn't know how it worked and always had to call someone over to help so I quit using it. I made the mistake of leaving the credit card in the app. I noticed that there were charges on my credit card that weren't mine when the statement arrived and called Chase. Luckily the app shows all your purchases, so it was easy to tell which were mine. They have taken the charges off, but it was alot of money so I hope Kroger will investigate. If you use Kroger Pay just watch the Kroger charges. It started pretty small and I didn't notice the first few charges since I am in there alot, but it definitely added up quickly.

Thank you. I will pass this along. They’ve had surges before and had to replace a ton of appliances. They seem to have gotten more damage than any of the neighbors.

Glad to hear this. I’m finishing up the 15k on my Hilton Biz as well and hoping to get the Aspire sometime this Fall. This gives me hope 🤞🏻
I think you'll have a good chance with that 15k spend. Unless you really need the FNC I'd continue to spend toward that until you want to apply for the Aspire. My plan for continuing spend with AmEx is no longer happening because of MS changes, so I figured I'd apply sooner rather than later.

My exclusive offer was 10% off Starbuck. I don't drink coffee! Wish I'd gotten the $10 off $40.

I got a $10 off of $50, $10 of of $40 pickup, the Starbucks and a buy a movie get one 50% off. I haven't been to Target in forever but will try to use both $10 off for dorm purchases. Between having a son (totally different experience than the girls and their dorm shopping) and everything that is going on we have bought ZERO dorm supplies.

Anyone have any idea why my wife would get denied for a Chase Freedom Unlimited? (That I referred here to from my CFU). She got approved for a CSP about 45 days ago no problem. She does not have any other credit cards except for being an authorized user on my CSP, CFU, & Southwest cards.

We are going to call them tomorrow to see if we can get a better answer.

What's her AAOA? Credit score? Credit utilization? Though from the dp's on reddit I've seen, they are getting stricter and it does seem that being an AU can be part of the problem. And that she got the CSP only 45 days ago is also probably part of it. We generally suggest 3 months between chase apps and given how most banks are tightening things it's probably even more important to not get them too close together.

Here credit score is ~750 and 0 credit utilization. Not sure what her AAOA is, probably not great because she does not have a ton of unsecured credit, just our mortgage and auto loans. Assumed that she would get approved for a CFU though as she got approved for a CSP no problem. I thought Chase had a 2/30 rule. I am thinking its because she is an authorized user on all of my cards. Time to remove her. We will see what the letter says when it shows up I guess.

In normal times I'd agree with you. At least she's got the loans. But there's been similar dp's, minus CSP approval, on reddit of people with similar au's, low AAOA and no loans getting denied because of bust out risk basically. And it was also on a low level card like CFU, might've been one of the freedom's even I don't remember. Also not sure how much the others are keeping up on r/churning and if they've seen any of it. Everything else is so slow I've been reading it. I think we're going to start seeing more denials aside from just sole props and biz cards across everything. And that even if there is a 2/30 that doesn't mean they'll actually approve it. Or they'll do what I read on r/amex today. This person has basically the same dp as me when it comes to CL over 800, utilization, history etc and we both only got $1k cl on the hilton surprass. It's my only personal cc with them, I only had the dl biz and the plat before that, so I've no idea if they'll think I even need or should get another card of any type. We'll see this fall when I try.

How many SW cards and are the AUs under 24 months? Are there any other cards outside of Chase? They count also. She maybe at 5/24. In the future, please don’t add each other as AU to personal cards since it adds to their CC count. If you want them to have a card request a replacement due to damage. Your original will still work and she can use the replacement. It is only safe to add AU as employees on Biz accounts.

If you remove her, I would also contact the credit bureaus and make sure she is removed there. You just basicallly say it was not her account and she was not financially responsible for the cards

My husband got a SW card earlier this year, then when he applied for his CSP recently, was denied. He called the recon line and they essentially said that because he had just gotten a card a few months ago and had plenty of available credit (he wasn't carrying a balance), that he didn't need another card. So maybe your wife is in a similar spot with her recent CSP?

My husband was able to ask them to lower the limit on the SW card and explained he really liked the benefits of the CSP and then reversed their denial. So it's definitely worth a shot for her to call!

It is so true that boys and totally different preparing for dorm living than girls. DS wanted me to order one of the package deals that comes with all the bedding, mattress pads, towels, etc from the information sent through the college. DDs would have never wanted that. We had to shop for hours to find all the "just right" things. DS basically doesn't care. He'd probably be content going to walmart on the day of move in and get whatever then had lol!

This is what makes me nervous. DH would hate to call and I've always been able to handle basically everything in his name. I might be going to 1.5 player mode for awhile instead of 2 player. The calls make me nervous enough and having to coach him though one would be terrible lol!

Yes. But my brain finally triumphed over my emotions. I too use the portal for 1.5x redemptions- but usually I’m not getting THE best deals so I’m not actually getting 1.5x at the end of the day. For instance I’ll book hotels I could be getting a 5-10% AAA discount at or a book direct with the hotel and save 10% discount on. Things like airfare that are the same price sure but I’m losing my 3% back on travel I would earn charging it to my credit card.

So it wasn’t easy to get myself to click the redeem button but I finally did. I’m keeping track of the amount I redeem and that will be added to my travel budget as cash in the future.
exactly what I decided to do also.
