I'm sorry all your hard work got flushed.... but hopefully there's next year for your visit there! A road trip sounds fun to me right now, I'm itching to go somewhere different and I can't right now- FWIW, I've had anniversary trips of all types, from tent camping in a hurricane on Assateague,to an Alskan cruise,to cabins in Maine, to hotels in Maui,to Disneyworld for the weekend-.... honestly, this most recent one was the most...:sad2:
B/C my habit had become over the past years was to 'celebrate' by going somewhere as a family, somewhere fun and different..... and this year, it wasn't happening.
So we didn't do much, with the exception of me choosing a kitten (which I just love and I'm thrilled with) but it otherwise was just another day...
Our 25th is next week. Two years ago, we were planning on going on our first cruise with my in-laws. They’re celebrating 50 this year. Then my MIL became paralyzed so we quietly quit discussing that plan. Tossed around a few other things but pretty sure we will consider ourselves lucky that we can at least go out to dinner since we have a few restaurants open now. It will be one of those ‘like every other day’ anniversaries 😐

Happy early anniversary to you! I hope by the time our anniversary is here we can go out to dinner LOL

Help me decide, DD is getting braces on 6/17 - Our portions is $3,100. Do I apply for the CSP or just charge it to one of our new Hyatt card?
My Hyatt met $3,700 of the $6K MSR.
DH's Hyatt met $1,800 of the $6K, have until 7/17 to meet the $3K and until 10/17 for the rest of the MSR.

We will have no problem meeting the MSRs organically on the 2 Hyatt cards, we have a 10 day vacation coming up in 3 weeks. With this new expense we could easily meet the $4K CSP MSR & Hyatt MSRs. But $3K for the braces would also get me closer to the $15K on the Hyatt to get another free certificate. Another problem I see is that I just got that Hyatt 2 months ago, it might be too fast for Chase right now. Thoughts?

If you want to rent points, there is availability. I checked the DVC website and there is sporadic availability in the studios and 1 Bedrooms. I think there are a few 3 night reservations. If you are willing to do a 2 Bedroom, there are lots of weeks available. Just know that there is risk in renting out points especially right now with the potential for closures. Hopefully, there will be rooms for cash available later. If you can, I would just wait a few weeks and then try to book again.

Just to clarify this availability, we are talking October and November here for @jenmsmith with DVC point availability. Summer availability is as I stated in my first post, and even less then I expected. Point rooms in 2 bedrooms are definitely available as stated for late October and most of November with the exception of thanksgiving which is gone. Studios and one bedrooms are showing as much as 3 nights in a row.

The points rooms can not be converted to cash until last minute if not booked by member points. The other way for cash rooms to appear would be if someone uses points to book a cruise, adventures by Disney etc. Those are the best bet right now for cash rooms. But, using points for other options is such a bad value overall, that people just don't seem to be doing as much of it as the point price has eclipsed for these offerings.

But that market may be a bit sketchy for awhile as in members may not want to risk more cancellations and have their DVC points turn into reservation points which have limited use for activity other than DVC resorts. Once they go, they don't come back the same.

DVC has also stated that for the time being they won't use their points to compete with members for availability, which lessens the chances of rooms becoming available for cash.

So, best case scenario would be to rent points to secure a room. As @disneybirds stated this has been a huge pitfall during the Pandemic, but hopefully for renters and owners alike, that will turn around.

I doubt we will see many cash available rooms at HH for October and November before September. Not saying they won't be there and that people shouldn't stalk the websites, but I wouldn't expect much before that.

For 2021 cash nights, I would start stalking at the 11 month mark for cash nights on the regular Disney website.

Oh and editing to add another point: One of the anomalies of using points at HH is sometimes paying cash is about the same as renting points. For instance a 31 point one bedroom in July might go for around $400 plus tax from Disney. But 31 points at $15 a point is $465 as a rental price. A 15 point studio in summer might go for $215 plus tax in cash but 15X $15 per point is $225. Plus - weekends are 27 points so yikes!
Point being, safer to rent from Disney as the savings don't justify the risk.

At Disney World the renting makes more sense as the room prices (without measurable discounts) are so much higher.

Now I must clarify that I haven't checked cash prices in about a year for summer.

I need to call to product change a card for my mother. She won't be with me when I do it, so I'm trying to get all my information together beforehand. What info do you need to provide to do a product change on the phone.
Thanks all!

Thanks so much to both of you,

I checked the Disney website a few weeks ago (I think - time has all run together at this point) and I remember seeing some cash rooms available. I remember thinking that the two bedrooms weren’t crazy prices (at least compared to other Disney prices). Now when I look I see nothing at all. I wasn’t sure if that was because new bookings were frozen there like they are at other Disney resorts or not.

Good points on the point rental. I don't think we’re interested in that at this moment so that we can have flexibility.

Thanks again!

I am sure glad I didn't get up at 6AM to make mine, Did them around 9AM and got everything. Had I had the slightest intentions of going I would have gotten up to make them at opening time.

From the Special Reservations line I have been calling, sounds like canceling works 100%, modifications work 50% and new is 0%. So you might have luck getting a modification made. I did get an app push notification today confirming I would be able to make early park reservations when available. This was about a day after I received an email they updated my reservation to a Recovery20 package, pretty much just removed the dining plan.
Special Reservations can see, but not touch my booking. Wholesale is either not responding to emails or Chase never sent one. Just kind of stuck in limbo over here. I may try calling later this week to see if lines are open.

Happy early anniversary to you! I hope by the time our anniversary is here we can go out to dinner LOL
Thank you! I hope you can at least do dinner as well! We have some places opening up - not necessarily 'special' type places but we're desperate so we will take just about anything!

Any good info on combing my URs across 4 cards and 3 separate logins? Ugh. I am pretty sure I can combine the 3 cards (DH’s cip and our 2 freedom cards), but I’m at a total loss on the 4th card, which is my CIP and is not connected to any of our other chase accounts, and has its own login. I very much do not want to have to go into a branch.

The other option is for me to book the 2 rooms we need individually; one off the 3 cards I AM able to combine, and the other off of the one that I’m having trouble with. That opens some options as far as drink packages, etc (only needing it for one room instead of both) but also a pain as far as things like room keys go. And I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle it’ll end up being. PLUS we will more than likely PC dh’s cip to a ciu before we go on the trip and should we have to cancel for whatever reason, I want to have the points go back on to the original card we used to book everything.

I called yesterday to try to link our two rooms and they couldn’t do anything but cancel. We have a dvc stay at bcv and then we move to ASMo. Thinking there is a decent chance movies won’t be open and we’re moved to Pop or AoA. Hoping not to be split up.
You called Wholesale? If they're answering that's at least a step forward. If you happen to make more progress before me let me know.

Between DH and I we have 4 logins, this is what I do.
P1 CF URs --> P1 CIP (I combine all biz URs to that CIP) -> P2 CSR
P2 Biz URs --> P1 CIP --> see above

Hope this helps

I have 4 logins, 2 biz and 2 personal for each of us. I combine all points to my CSR. For some cards I combine directly to my CSR. For others I have it set up such that I move the points to a different account, then to my CSR. For instance, I think P2's most recent biz card transfers points to my CIP, then I move the points from my CIP to CSR. Most often referred to as "daisy chain".

Try moving you CIP points to your Freedom, then to his CIP if that's where you want to collect them all.

That all is so strange... The normal line cannot even see my reservation, only that the confirmation number is valid, then the Special Reservations like you said can see my the first reservation and all about it but cannot change anything... So every date change I have to call two numbers, Thanks SWA! :badpc:

If you are able to meet the MSR on the Hyatt cards organically then I'd go with the CSP. The reason is that I don't see much value in the Hyatt FNC since it's only good at category 1 - 4 properties (versus the Hilton FNC which is good at any property with very few exclusions). The most value I've been able to get on a Hyatt FNC is around $200.00 and there were a few years when I didn't even use it. If you use a $0.02 / point value for the CSP then you'd be getting points worth approx. $1,200.00 with a 60,000 UR SUB. Hope this makes sense.

My Amex Plat renewal is coming up later this month. I had expected to close it but with the streaming and phone credits for the rest of the year at my calculation being $280 in value ($40 x 7) I think it makes sense to keep it for another year.

With another $200 in Uber/$100 Saks it seems like an easy decision. Obviously there is the $200 airline incidental but who knows about that right now. Obviously that would put it way over the top.

I have had a lot of success with Amazon MR points for 20% off but I guess I can't count that since I have the Amex everyday card.

Any reason not to keep it open that I am missing?

Don't forget to call for a retention offer. :)

You called Wholesale? If they're answering that's at least a step forward. If you happen to make more progress before me let me know.
Sorry, no, I called Disney regular reservations. Just was saying they cannot do anything right now except cancel. The CM told me they've been completely shut down from accessing any other part of the system.

I wasn’t sure if that was because new bookings were frozen there like they are at other Disney resorts or not.

I don't know but it is a possibility the booking availability is frozen. Were you looking for Oct-Nov, or closer in at that time?

Frozen would suggest that DVC is following their statement that they would not compete for availability with members - in other words not releasing rooms to be booked for cash. DVD holds anywhere from 2 to 4% of the points at DVC resorts and DVC also manages the points collected from 'sales' of cruises, etc.

The availability is always a fluctuating activity, so keep checking. Book it if you see it - you can always do the up to 5 day cancelation. And, sometimes these resort rooms in fall and winter will qualify for certain promos if any are available such as passholder.

Just an observation based on the discussion here recently. There seems to be more interest in off-property DVC (Hilton Head, Vero Beach, and Aulani), so reservations might be tighter than usual. Or maybe I'm just more tuned into the off-site DVC chatter, because it seems more appealing to me right now?
