Lol.....As far as I read there was more small business bank loan money came available after the first wave. I'm guessing he's swimming in work.
He is completely swamped with work :(

HAH! I just got off a 74hr week last week and already at 30hrs this week and I think its just Tuesday? :sad2: Going on week number seven of this hectic schedule, still holding out hope that things can return to sane levels again soon.

Churning advice needed, please! I'm starting to think about trying to take three or four of us (older ds will be in college) to England and Scotland in summer of 2022 or 23, and I'm looking for suggestions on best cards to get for flights. I can figure out hotels, but the flight thing is kind of overwhelming, as all my churning-generated flights have been Southwest or Alaska Air. I also know there's the whole high taxes flying out (and in? not sure) of the UK thing, so tips on that would be appreciated.

I might be under 5/24 in September, it depends if they count a Macy's store card (I know, I know). DH will be under 5/24 next month. I'm not really comfortable with business cards. We live in CA, so having separate flights to the east coast is definitely a possibility. Business or first class would be nice, but I'm guessing probably too pricey in points for so many of us. Thanks!

We have found AA flights direct from LAX to LHR, and BA, VA and AF (through Paris though) out of SFO. It's a long, long flight but if you can fly in biz I'd recommend it.

Best cards to get? We have used both URs and MRs for those flights (except the AA one) and I'd recommend going with them because they are much more flexible than choosing a particular airline. So, for international, cards like CSR or Amex Platinum if you want lounge access and Global Entry but don't mind the high AFs. You could apply for a CIP and get a good SUB, starting you on your way to collecting URs. Personally, I like to have a stash of both MRs and URs just in case one works out better than another.

As for the taxes, we have mainly chosen to fly AF because the taxes are cheaper, but then we weren't touring the UK. DD just flew VA through LHR last month on a last minute ticket to get her home and I think the taxes were less than BA but still not cheap (maybe $300). This was for a seat in "Upper Class" which was lie flat.

Hope this helps.

It's funny because I keep hearing people say how they are "working from home" but that really means doing fix it jobs in the house and some gardening, but my DH is working a ton and has no time to even consider doing that. Or at least that's what he claims. :rotfl: In all seriousness, though, I hope things calm down for you and everyone else who is working more right now. I can't complain since at least he is getting paid and I know not everyone is in the same situation.

WELL it has been a hot minute…

I haven’t really been on the DIS much since the COVID19 explosion in the US. Cancelling my spring trip and seeing all the WDW stuff just makes me sad 😞 I realistically don’t think I will be traveling at all during 2020 so the replacement September trip I booked and my previously scheduled fall and winter stuff all seems to be up in the air. 😞 I’ve been distracting myself with work, Disney+, and Animal Crossing (couldn't have been released at a better time!) HAHAHA

In CC-related news, I was approved for a United Explorer card and a personal Gold Amex. Why not still earn miles? I am slowly working through both of those MSRs with all of my online orders and grocery deliveries. 😂 I also obsessively disinfected the new CCs when they arrived. HAHAHA Germaphobe problems.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe!!! :grouphug:

It has now been a week since my application for the CIU. Is everyone finding that Chase is taking longer right now? I was going to lower the limit on my highest biz card but decided to not bother lowering and just apply as I did not want to wait for them to act on the SM. Now I am wondering if that was a mistake.

I'm due April 23 so 9 days! I'm feeling good, just really tired. I've been having trouble sleeping already so I'm sure I'll be used to it once he gets here lol. I had an appointment this morning and everything is still looking good. We set a date for induction, but she still thinks I'll go on my own. For now, I'm enjoying building our Lego sets and taking naps lol
SO GLAD I didn't miss it! My Target baby Yoda pre-order was delayed this am and I thought of your ShopDisney order for the nursery! Glad to hear everything is going well!! 😊

Nope you didn’t miss anything lol! He’s taking his sweet time. I’m honestly not complaining though. I’ll take all this extra time with Dh while I can. Baby yoda is hanging out in the baby’s crib since he won’t be sleeping in it right away

I've been moving trips and cancelling flights all morning. I am so sad to cancel so many SW companion pass trips. So far I've had to cancel 4 minimum with the possibility of two more. It stinks because my CP expires this year.
I've said this before, but I REALLY think a 2020 CP extension will come along here eventually. SW wants people on planes and the goodwill that will happen as a result of this is right down their alley. I don't have a 2020 CP (mine is 2021) BUT I'm very hopeful for those with 2020 CPs that SW will give them some extension.

I know many want a 2021 extension but I'd keep expectations realistic there given that the "2021" portion of your 2021 CP may not be affected at all. I'm not saying you shouldn't hope for it...but just don't be counting on it. 12/31/2021 (and extending BEYOND that) feels a looooong way away if you think about it for a minute.

😍 I love it!! Happy you are able to enjoy this time and relax with your DH. Also glad to hear you got baby Yoda and he is ready and waiting!

Anyone seen the SW bonus points post yet for the 25% promotion ending in Feb?
I might be late to answer this but 8 weeks is 4/25 so I haven't seen them yet but hope it comes soon!

We were supposed to go to WDW May 30 - June 6th but rebooked for end of July. I was back and forth then SW canceled our flights so took that as the final sign that we needed to rebook.

Just logged into my SW account, obsessively checking our flights now and just noticed today in points activity I have:

Customer Service Adjustment0 PTS

Anyone ever have something like that?
There was discussion about it on r/churning the other day that I caught a glimpse of. I can't remember what was discussed around it though. You're not alone - I'll just say that. It was a day or 2 ago.

Pretty! Just an FYI, it has a support link that goes 2 ways.
I had to read this twice to figure out this was NOT a comment about "support links"... I'm like... 2 way support link? What's that, I want one!!

Yikes that doesn't sound fun to me. I do somewhat see a positive behind that, though. Summer is a long gap where a lot of kids forget things they learned from the previous year so having those small breaks here and there and a shorter summer probably helps with that.
If I lived in a warm weather climate I would be all about the year round school. For those who experience cold weather winters...it feels like it would kind of stink.

Thank you! We do have some URs already (I think about 130,000?) and a CSR. I guess I need to look into MRs next, since we have not had any of those cards. I'm scared of the dreaded pop-up though. I got it the last time I tried for an Amex card, but that was maybe a year ago, so hopefully things have changed.

I wouldn't be surprised that things are moving slower. All off-shore resources are running at limited capacity at the banks now. They aren't as work from home ready over there apparently (although I'm seeing SOME overseas support at our bank, just not nearly as much).

Did @SouthFayetteFan find a new boarding group thread? :rotfl2:

Job security??
hes seeing a lot of Ps...
P-P-P-P-P-P
This is all true... all very true. I at least get a chance to see my children now each day for a few hours... As Sarah on CoP would say: "That's Progress Dear".

It's pretty stressful, there are lots of angry business owners, funds are getting scooped up, the banks are in chaos... not fun, but at least I'm busy, I have a job, and I don't have time to think about whatever is going on in the world.

I heard something about people not being able to leave their homes...is that true??? Yeah, I'm almost that out of the loop, pretty crazy!!
