So, finally made a plan to get my dd home. I'm flying down on Tuesday morning and getting her packed up with the help of my wonderful aunt and uncle who were down there visiting her when the news broke that the DCP was ending for now. They extended their trip to help her.

I rented a van and will plan to leave Wednesday morning driving back to CO. It's a 26-hr drive. It'll just be me and dd. I need to figure out what the route looks like and where we can stay. I'm a little worried cause she is not able to drive the rental car and I'm not really a long distance driver (my dh always drives on road trips and I just provide the chatter to keep him awake lol).
You can do it! :thumbsup2 when I did a drive like this with my kids, I plotted a route that had me stopping each evening before dark to stay at a hotel, I felt safer that way, along with a stop every 3 hours to gas up,stretch and use a bathroom. (AAA has a decent triptyk planner for all this)

I ended up convincing Dh to stay home at least for today. He’s working on his computer so I don’t think he has to use PTO. He emailed his manager explaining how he felt and how he wants to distance himself as much as possible. I’m not sure if they’ve responded or not. Dh thinks I’m overreacting and says he’ll most likely have to go in to work or take unpaid time off/PTO. He’s not hopeful that they’ll let him work from home for so long since I’m not due for another 5 weeks or so.

I’m going to my gym today to put my membership on hold (hopefully). Lots of women have already asked about live streaming classes and it sounds like they’re going to do that. My OB said let her know if I feel short of breath, fever, or decreased fetal movement. She said to contact her before going to the hospital

ETA: Both of Dh’s managers said he can work from home for as long as he needs to feel safe. He doesn’t have to use PTO thank goodness. Dh said he has to have work to do though. Hopefully he can stay busy otherwise he will have to use PTO
Glad he got it worked out. Hopefully he has sufficient work he can do at home. Good luck with the last few weeks of your pregnancy. I am glad DS arrived 2 weeks early because I was ready.

Because we changed our flight home last minute, we have sucky boarding for SW. Does anyone know I can upgrade to the priority boarding at the check-in counter since we have luggage to check or only at the gate?
I Usually do it at the check in counter, but once when they were very busy they told me I had to do it at the gate

I’m extremely happy that he’s able to be at home. We’ll see if our marriage survives lol. I was hoping to swim today but it’s cloudy and not as warm so that might not happen. I’ll probably go walk here soon.

I still have over 5 weeks left but I would almost rather he came early before it gets worse here. Our county “has no cases” but I don’t think they’ve even tested anyone

How many people really think the kids will be going back to school? I am 90% sure DS will be completing 8th grade virtually. His last day is 6/3. Luckily, he has that option at his private school. Our county students don’t since there is barely enough laptops for a grade and certainly not enough for everyone plus the lack of internet service that some students may have.
Schools that don't have the ability to do virtual learning will have to enter negotiations with the teachers unions if isn't spelled out in the contracts what happens next.

Public schools in my area are "optional virtual learning" because it's a poor area and there is no way they can mandate kids do virtual school when some don't have a device to work on at home or even internet access. They may wave all requirements and say "y'all graduated! yay!" in a couple months... but they might also say "remember summer? that was a thing last year." Hopefully they'll find a happy medium of extending the school year but not taking away all of summer. Saying screw it for the last quarter of these kids education would really mess them up next year :(

Well...in other news I went to the grocery store this morning..... it was a pretty normal and uncrowded experience overall. Some things were pretty low, but I got everything on my list. (except TP but we all know that's another topic :rotfl2: ) I do believe (as I always have) that being prepared and well stocked is the best I can do right now. That way I can also help others around me if they need it in the coming weeks. And keep my own family going.

Ok..... that chase refund app that's fairly new....I wonder about park ticket purchases? We have some for Uni -bought on points for mid April (ugh) and I'm thinking it's not going to happen.... I'd like to just extend the date so we could use them later...but I don't want to call b/c I know they're swamped and my dates aren't urgent..... any thoughts on this? I wish I hadn't bought them now,as everything else is an easy cancel. Ugh. and thanks for any advice :thumbsup2

My husband thinks we should pull some unspecified amount of money out of our credit union to have cash on hand

Is there really a chance that places will suddenly stop accepting credit cards? Is that even reasonable?
yes it is a reasonable concern.

Good afternoon everyone. Has anyone had luck calling AA? I had flights for next week and I need to cancel or have points refunded. I would love to reschedule but the flights are not open for March 2021. Are they refunded without fee? I will try to call when my 72 hour window opens up.

As long as he has strong lungs!

Sorry you are dealing with this.

Hard to think of a scenario where they bring the kids back.

The CC system and internet banking didn’t go down at 9/11 or in the financial crisis. Might you need cash because someone’s cc processing system chocked for a day or a local restaurant can’t process cc on delivery orders? Sure. But a mass no internet financial transactions end of times situation? No. Come away from that ledge lol. If you see DH staring at that ledge and some cash on hand makes him feel like he has some control over an uncontrollable situation maybe let him get some cash just to feel better. Some people took all their cash and put it into toilet paper over the last couple weeks in order to feel better so at least you aren’t looking at a room stuffed with toilet paper :)

LOL! I think we all need to go watch It's a Wonderful Life (the run on Bailey Building and Loan:)). I can't remember the old lady who said she only needed $20.

Good news! DD is on the homeward bound leg of her trip home from England. So much relief over here. She also did get the free upgrade from BA!

I'm in the same boat with UO tickets for 3/28. I filled out the cancel form after wasting 1.5 hrs on phone and then being hung up on on Saturday.
I'm skeptical that I'll see my points but I'm generally pessimistic.
I wonder if I should still call as my dates near? I'm guessing when other weeks are canceled past 3/31 the call volume will remain high.

Does anyone know how long the tickets that I bought are good for? Nothing in the email or my trips states an expiration date. I only have a voucher bar code number. When I called UO they couldn't help me figure that out since it's not a ticket yet. They told me once you scan the voucher and get a ticket then UO charges Chase for the ticket. Since no "money" changed hands, it seems logical we could get our UR back but......

It's a Wonderful Life....can't remember the old ladies name either. I just remember his assistant Eustace with the crow. Then they celebrate after the closing with Mama Dollar and Papa Dollar.

My WDW app just notified me my room is ready (we were supposed to check in to CBR today). I cancelled through AAVacations Friday. I’ll have to look up the room number and see how close it would have been to the Skyliner station. If it’s far away then I’ll feel a little less sad about not being there.
I was supposed to be arriving at WDW right about now.:sad::sad:
