DD flew into SFO last night and we weren't sure what to expect in terms of screening and timing. The FAs told them that Global Entry wasn't working and they would all have to fill out the customs form so she did. Global was working and she breezed through customs.

In terms of screening, once the plane arrived at the gate, someone came on and handed forms to the FAs. Every person needed to fill out this long form regarding health issues, where they have been, etc. Then once completed, they could get off the plane. DD was one of the first off and she said they "interviewed" her about 3 feet from the plane (so just as she stepped onto the jetway), handed her info, and sent her on her way. She did not have the lines that we are seeing in photos from other airports around the country.

I'm just letting you know all of this so you can prepare your DD for whatever they do. They wrote on DD's form in BIG letters where she had been. Since Norway is on the travel ban list and the UK isn't, it might be easier for your DD (but if she is arriving after the UK is added, it's still going to be ok). The info they gave her said to stay home for 14 days and keep checking for symptoms, etc. So it's bad since she's now cooped up (she would love to go for a walk, a hike, or a run) but it's what she needs to do.

Because of the short delay compared to normal, her bags were already off the plane and she just walked in and picked them up. I hope things go smoothly for your DD as well, and I hope they give her the upgrade. I joked that if you have to be evacuated from a place you really want to be, at least do it in style. 😉
Thank you so much for this! I will copy and send to DD So she knows what to expect. I’ll also tell her to write fast so she gets off quickly. Funny the flight attendants told us the same thing about global entry, and it was open too.

I used up all my 2019 and 2020 points on our trips for April and May. I'm going to cancel April and probably May and fully expecting Disney will put my points back to the right UY. Are you thinking your 2018 points cannot be saved?
I was fortunately able to cancel my spring room before WDW officially closed and salvage something in September at VGF before my UY ends. DVC waived the holding restriction since I was under 30 days, but the banked 2018 points will still expire 9/30/20 so hopefully that trip can work. I am just waiting for a hurricane 🤣

I am so sorry! I remember the AP excitement after you guys got your DVC points!!! It is all so crazy! I had to cancel my first DVC stay and am still concerned I may end up losing my 2018 points. I waited years to buy and the first reservation I make is affected by a pandemic. WHO would have thought that?!?
How long do you have to use your 2018 points? Maybe MS will be able to extend the deadline for you? ....

When my original reservation was canceled the CM calculated what was used from each contract and UY and mentioned the 9/30 expiration for the banked 2018 points. Given everything that has happened since that conversation, it could be worth a shot to ask! Maybe I will send an email to MS. I imagine they are still spread a little thin right now and I don’t think I can do another hour+ hold with any company right now 🤣

All this talk of employers forcing people to use PTO to work from home is making me thankful again that I’m unionized and have strong representation. Unbelievable that during a crisis like this, that’s the response.

NYC closed the schools finally. It’s a terribly difficult decision not made lightly, but I think it’s the right thing to do.

@GlamMistress I was kind of dumbfounded they didn’t do that to begin with. At least Disney springs!

I suppose they were desperate to save any revenue they could. When places like Apple and Nike announced worldwide store closures, I knew Disney couldn't stay open.

Someone on here asked where my friend flew FROM to the UK. It was CVG.

To those being asked to use PTO to work from home... keep track of all paper trails on that. There will likely be federal guidance on work from home coming soon. At least from the state level. I do not believe an employer can tell you to work from home then use your vacation. No one wants to be holding the liability bag here. Keep on showing up to work. Then wait and see what happens when someone gets sick...

Remember we're all in this together. This week is likely going to be wild. :grouphug:

I am sure they are. Hopefully you will be able to go on your trio and use them. Maybe it’s not even worth asking at this point. You can always call later if needed.

Our Spring Break vacation is sadly coming to an end. We are calling it a wrap. I contact the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek and they graciously returned my points despite it being under 24 hours. Our SW flights are changed to this evening. DS is being a trooper about missing his birthday cruise but we had 3 full days in WDW and got to ride everything he wanted and sometimes twice. We rode FOP for the 1st time (I know it’s been out for quite awhile) and ROTR, MMRR and MFSR.

Back to MD and the cold we go.

One thing I like about having all my kids home is hearing them whistle. My boys especially will whistle when they’re in a good mood. It makes my heart smile. I like hearing my daughter play her guitar and my son playing piano (we’re a family of musicians). Normally I hate cleaning, but when they’re making music I can clean all day quite happily, just listening as they play. :cloud9:

My daughter and I have been (separately) reading/listening to the Harry Potter books for the first time so we’re planning to have a Potter movie marathon while they are all home.

I wonder if they are going to close other retail stores soon? Im interested to hear what he says in the morning. DH has a jobsite downtown Seattle that hasn't been shut down yet so he will go in the morning, but I'm kind of expecting it to close soon. I haven't heard anything about how other construction is being handled.

I haven't heard anything either but imagine we'll hear something today. We have job sites all over including the airport and stuff/office down in OR. I imagine they'll try and keep thrm going as long as they can and once they can't those people go on unemployment which is part of why unemployment benefits were part of the 1st bill worked on. Imagine that'll cover service workers etc too. But check your local grocery store, 2 of our chains are hiring for temp, pt and ft right now.

On a happy note Dude finally ate breakfast with me. He always takes a bit tp get back to normal when I've been gone and he eats later with my mom. Normally doesn't take a week so I'm happy especially since we're up an hour early today.

My WDW app just notified me my room is ready (we were supposed to check in to CBR today). I cancelled through AAVacations Friday. I’ll have to look up the room number and see how close it would have been to the Skyliner station. If it’s far away then I’ll feel a little less sad about not being there.

I cancelled JetBlue flights booked on URs directly with JetBlue on Thursday night. Over a 2 hour wait, but Chase travel wouldn't even connect at the time. JetBlue said normally I would have to go through the 3rd party, but given the unprecedented events they would gladly give me my funds back to my travel bank good for 12 months.
I cancelled directly with Delta too. They didn't even question the 3rd party booking.

We are a family of musicians too! My husband was playing his guitar most of the weekend. He is planning to help our son with bass guitar since he was supposed to be starting lessons at school next week.

Weird driving in, less traffic tham a Sat afternoon at 615am which should already have tons of traffic and freeways backed up. Nothing.

Just in case anyone else is contemplating this - you may not need to call. I had JetBlue flights booked thru Chase using URs and I was able to cancel on JetBlue's website and receive funds as a travel bank credit. There was a pop-up warning that this was a third party booking and if I proceeded I would no longer be able to deal with the 3rd party, but once past this warning, booking was canceled and issued a travel credit.

I ended up convincing Dh to stay home at least for today. He’s working on his computer so I don’t think he has to use PTO. He emailed his manager explaining how he felt and how he wants to distance himself as much as possible. I’m not sure if they’ve responded or not. Dh thinks I’m overreacting and says he’ll most likely have to go in to work or take unpaid time off/PTO. He’s not hopeful that they’ll let him work from home for so long since I’m not due for another 5 weeks or so.

I’m going to my gym today to put my membership on hold (hopefully). Lots of women have already asked about live streaming classes and it sounds like they’re going to do that. My OB said let her know if I feel short of breath, fever, or decreased fetal movement. She said to contact her before going to the hospital

ETA: Both of Dh’s managers said he can work from home for as long as he needs to feel safe. He doesn’t have to use PTO thank goodness. Dh said he has to have work to do though. Hopefully he can stay busy otherwise he will have to use PTO
