They sent an email telling people they would have to use PTO to work from home. He’ll already be using all of that for when the baby is actually here. Idk what to do. I’ll ask if he can talk to them tomorrow about it
WOW! I really hope they reconsider!! Is his office making exceptions for those in higher risk categories?

That can't be legal. He's either WORKING or he's getting Paid Time Off. I can't see how they could require somebody to use their PTO and work...

I would definitely see if he can work from home with a baby coming next month. My DH can't really and I'm feeling concerned about him bringing it home since the baby is only two months old. I've kept myself calm reading that it hasn't seemed to affect children as much, but its still so new and unknown......
I was reading some things about how they’re handling deliveries in Washington and I wasn’t thrilled to read some moms can’t even do skin to skin

My husband is the IT manager for a small credit union. A couple of weeks ago he called in sick but still "had" to do work from home... so I told him he should not have to take a sick day... and he, stubborn person that he is, insisted he still had to take a sick day.

He is exempt but I am still sure that's not legal, technically.

But he chooses not to argue it so there isn't much I can do.

I’m pretty sure that’s what his email said. I may have misunderstood. The majority of his office can’t work from home because they work on classified projects. Dh actually could work from home because he isn’t doing all classified work.

Things are changing rapidly. By tomorrow his company might decide to change their policy.

Try not to worry too much about the baby. It's not good for you or the little nugget. There are VERY few infant and in utero cases being reported. You have done the best thing by contacting your OB. If you have any more symptoms show up, like coughing, fever, or increased chest pain, then you may want to call your doc again or the ED before just showing up. They may have other instructions for you to follow.

I think their answer should be that he can use PTO to take off then, or take unpaid time off, but I think it's probably illegal to have somebody use their PTO and also put in their normal work hours. I've been out of the Executive Management game for awhile though so my knowledge there might not be sharp at this point.

The problem is Dh doesn’t want to take PTO since he is saving it all for when the baby is actually here. I’ll ask him to see what they say about working from home and not using PTO for that. Hopefully they’ll let him under the circumstances

Correct - I'm not suggesting he take PTO. I'm merely suggesting that the employer being ok with him putting in a full day at home AND requiring him to take PTO do not seem congruent. They are sending mixed messages there in my mind... and they need to clarify their stance on it.

Not that Google should be the answer to this, but finding some info on it out there - A couple of examples:
  • You cannot be asked to work and take PTO at the same time... You can choose to work while on PTO, but you cannot be required to work regardless of if you are salaried or not.
  • Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), any employee who performs productive work for the employer, regardless of whether the employer specifically authorized the work or knew that work was being performed, must be paid.

Not really. My breathing seems normal, no coughing, no runny nose. My chest actually feels better right now so maybe it was all in my head. I took my temp but I swear our thermometer doesn’t work. It said my temp was 96.6 and I doubt that’s right. I messaged my OB but probably won’t hear back from her until tomorrow morning. I’m just gonna get some sleep and hope that helps
My chest was bothering me yesterday. I actually think it was anxiety. I’ve just never had that level of it until then.

I am so sorry! I remember the AP excitement after you guys got your DVC points!!! It is all so crazy! I had to cancel my first DVC stay and am still concerned I may end up losing my 2018 points. I waited years to buy and the first reservation I make is affected by a pandemic. WHO would have thought that?!?
I used up all my 2019 and 2020 points on our trips for April and May. I'm going to cancel April and probably May and fully expecting Disney will put my points back to the right UY. Are you thinking your 2018 points cannot be saved?

Been having a little of this the last couple of days and I think it is anxiety as well. I notice taking a deep breath is hard. But I have zero symptoms of anything else so thinking I'm just feeling anxious.

I’ve had high anxiety for travel reasons and it never hurt my chest. This could be a different kind of anxiety though. Idk how to describe how my chest feels. It’s almost like a heart burn feeling and it’s possible that’s all it is

SO, as fast as I finally settled on a plan to go pick my dd up, it appears all has changed now. Like the CDC, my plans are quickly changing lol. Now I think she (and her gobs of stuff) is getting a ride with a friend to TX. She will spend a few days there and then drive to CO. She and friend will hang out here for a few days. So, no idea when she will get back. She has no job and no school and is just in limbo.

Heartburn is so common in late pregnancy as the baby has grown so much and presses on the stomach and forces all that up...I had the worst heartburn with my last baby.
