Churning TP? Oh you mean cards...

P2s Delta bonus posted! We just submitted the last bills on his Citi AA (his only one- dont panic!) and CIP to knock those out! I’m due for a Chase biz but not focused enough to apply yet.
Thank You!! Congrats on the Delta Bonus too! This is the content I'm here for. 😃 (Also love that you had to add that "qualifying" statement on the AA Card, lol! It's only one I SWEAR!!!!

I believe I found this on Facebook, I haven't gone through it yet, but I plan to see if there's anything we can use:
Education Companies Offering Free Subscriptions due to School Closings

But also this (in moderation of course):

Keep in mind that while public school lasts hours, homeschooling doesn't because apparently there aren't as many interruptions, etc, but more importantly your child works at his/her pace not the pace of the classroom. Don't expect them to be busy all day.

My husband's "office" is our bedroom. My office was a formal dining room, it'll be an official office when we get doors in place. I have always allowed my kids to do their work anywhere, and that does include the bathtub. Yes, my son sat in the bathtub so he could concentrate on math once (the littles were very young at that time) lol I work in the morning, school starts after lunch so anywhere between 1 and 2 and we're usually done by 5. However I do give a lot of flexibility and I've always tried to teach my kids to be independent in their learning (successful in 3 of 4). My 13yo is in her room working on literature right now at 11pm. We school year round and weekends because we take a lot of days off, especially when my work gets busy like this week.

We use Teaching Textbooks for math (online) and Wordly Wise for vocab (online), beyond that we use books so that wouldn't be helpful in this situation. We use Kahn Academy and Purple Math. You can often find audio version of books on Youtube (we're working through Diary of a Young Girl right now). You'll find a lot of stuff out there if you go looking.

I am aware of these two sites, but haven't used. Both are religious based, but you can usually leave that out if you desire:

Watching the news.I haven't read anything about any hospitals in the US being overwhelmed with Corona Virus patients or running out of supplies, shortage of ventilators, or healthcare workers getting sick. None of this is happening, but the pundits just go on and on and on about the "what ifs". They are the reason for the panic. When the have Doctors on that are optimistic, they interrogate them and pressure them to be negative. I really hate the media. It's not one channel it's all of them.

so as I mentioned above my area is a few days behind everyone else. Lucky me, but everything I grabbed to be ready for the next couple weeks I got based off Dis Boards chatter from various threads. Not one iota of anything helpful did I get from the media. But they have freaked me the €#£! out and as such I’m now actively trying to limit my media consumption. I’m even going to TRY (I am NOT promising 😂) to leave my phone in my bedroom tomorrow, enjoy my coffee and maybe some sudoku, and do my taxes. When taxes are better for your mental health than watching the news the world is topsy turvy!

For little ones I really like Reading Eggs. They offer a free trial so that could be an option. It goes to first or second grade depending on your child’s learning and also has Math Seeds. It’s almost all games but I’ve seen some kids really love it. The older kid version is called Reading Eggspress. Both versions the kids earn “eggs” and can decorate a house or egg character with stuff

I just received a crap ton of airline miles and hotel points

In refunds.

For my shattered dreams.

And I haven’t even cancelled next week’s WDW trip yet.

Churning and I are in a rough patch. Let’s talk apocalypse instead! (I can’t believe I just wrote that without AA at the front 😭...)

(Not that it stopped me from just snagging this beautiful Amex Gold card...)

Baby yoda is on his way to our house!! I completely forgot I even ordered him it’s been so long lol

When can we talk about churning again? ...asking for a friend.

Here's my churning tidbit: next week I will go from 5/24 to 2/24 (yes, I did apply for 3 credit cards in one week). I'm going to wait until April to apply for a CIP (and who knows what else, but probably something).

And as for the current situation, DH and I just got back from Target with 20 cans of soup. As empty nesters, we don't keep a lot of food in the house anymore and mostly eat things that are perishable, but I feel like I should have a few weeks of some kind of food on hand just in case either of us does contract this virus. Of these 20 cans of soup, most are things we have never eaten but sound promising, as well as a few things I don't think I have eaten since childhood.

Anyone have any favorite canned soup (or canned anything, really)?

Lived in China for a semester. Can testify Kleenex works (everyone has to keep a container of tissues with them as bathrooms only had toilet paper in super fancy places that college kids frequented once a trip 😂). Sucks having to put it in the trash and take it out though (but that’s how toilet paper worked there too).

Can confirm. Public restrooms at major tourist attractions in Beijing will almost certainly have little old ladies outside selling packets of tissue paper to use as the other kind of TP.

Returned home from my 40th birthday trip to Guatemala yesterday. Just thought I would give an airport update: on the way into Guatemala we got a temperature scan on March 4th. On the way back into the US on March 12th things ran just like normal! Nobody seemed to be panicking, customs was easy, no temperature scans.
Also Guatemala was beautiful and very little talk of coronavirus. We met some people from Italy who couldn’t get home and it did start making me anxious to get home especially when you start hearing about more travel bans!
I’m sad they couldn’t get home but... Italy is in bad shape. And hopefully they’re finding Guatemala cheap?... Definitely worse places to ride it out...
