Then was reading about the Citi Premier with Thank You Points. Current offer is 60,000 points with $4,000 spend. So, if reading correctly that 60,000 points would equal $750 in TYP which could be Disney Tickets... Is this a pretty good offer - has it gone higher? If DH and I both get this card are we able to combine points. Neither of us have had any TYP Cards.
There's a 65k offer showing in branch if you have a Citi Iocation available -

Citi has some interesting anti churning rules so I'd read up a bit on their products. Like Chase, getting one can lock you out of a bonus for another but unlike Chase the 24 months can go based on opening or closing date of cards. It's a little trickier IMO so I'd want to make sure a quick grab of points now doesn't affect a potential plan for later. If there's nothing else in their portfolio that interests you, then no problem.

Last I saw you can still transfer points to any other TYP member but those points expire within 60 or 90 days (I think 90), so don't transfer until you have a redemption ready. I'm not sure of the limits to transfers, but I thought there was a cap. (I haven't had a Citi TY card in ages and ages, but I read about them occasionally when I'm thinking of diversifying.)

DH's Barclay's AA card just posted the AF. He wants to keep it for another year. I'm not sure what's going on with AA so I have no opinion.

I think it’s 30 days...have the anniversary RR points posted in your account ? You could also try for a retention offer...last year I received a $100 statement credit

Thanks. I haven’t received anniversary points yet. The fee just posted Saturday. Is there a specific phone number to call for a Chase retention offer?

I called the number on the back of my card....not sure if there is a recommended number for retentions maybe others would know

Huh okay that’s something I need to keep in mind I guess. Seattle is low on our list to use as a positioning flight but it’s an option. Right now I think we’re hoping for either Chicago or JFK. The availability for 2 adults is terrible right now in December. I’m hoping it’s just the time of year and I’ll see a bunch open up when they get into January. Otherwise idk what our backup will be

you should very very very very heavily prioritize JFK--HND route...
here, ill give u a hint. :teleport:

So a weird thing happened to me lately... I paid ahead on my Water Bill ($450) with a CC and paid the $1.95 one-time fee to do so. I try to pay it ~6 months at a time. Well I guess because my CC payment was too close to my bill due date (3 days prior), they still pulled my auto-pay from my checking. I wasn't crazy that they did this so I called in and said why did you pull from my checking and they said because it can take 5 days for a payment to credit... Weird, but ok - I paid the bill 3 days in advance and you still charged me a 2nd time, when you could easily see the pending payment????

Of course the person I was talking to on the phone was used to people calling in having their water shutoff because of non-payment so she had no idea what I was trying to do or ask. She offered to refund the double payment and I finally said "sure", just to end the call before it got more awkward. This was two weeks ago and I honestly forgot about it until today when a check shows up for almost $400. She refunded my entire credit balance... So basically I "MSed" $400 for a $1.95 fee... Guess I'm off to make another $400 payment on my water bill again!! (Not to MS, just because I hate monthly bills)
Bank of America handles partial early credit card payments in a similar way. Every other card issuer I deal with does it the way that makes sense: if you have auto payments set up to pay the statement balance in full, and if you make a partial payment before the due date, the system subtracts the amount of your partial payment when it takes the auto payment. I do this occasionally on months with big spend so the auto pull from my checking account is not one giant withdrawal. But BofA takes the full statement balance even if you've made a partial payment, which can cause an overdraft if it is big enough and you weren't expecting it. Fortunately when they did it to me I had enough in checking to cover the giant pull I wasn't anticipating, though I had to move some funds around to cover the next 30 days.

Haha trust me I’m all over that. However with the availability I’m seeing currently I’ll take just about anything. It’s weird because there are a lot of return flights for 2-3 people but all of the outbound flights after December 2ish are for only 1 person.

A little late to the party, but I applied for the Hilton Aspire on Saturday. We don't typically stay at hotels as we have so many time shares, LOL, but I really like staying at the Hilton Paddington before flying back to the US on our London trips. We also may be going to AZ soonish and the Boulders looked nice :) Anyway, I wasn't approved right away and thought it might be because I have a credit freeze (as an existing Amex cardholder I was hoping they wouldn't pull). I called today and all they wanted was to verify it was me. As a thank you for being so patient (all of 48 hours, LOL), he's expediting the card. I hope to have it in time for Hawaii this weekend. My mom has a place that is connected to the Grand Wailea so I can put any pool/restaurant charges on that and get some nice return for my minimum spend. Crossing fingers!

Successfully PCed my CIP to CIU today after AF hit 2/1. Forgot that it needs a $5000 CL so the rep had to do that first but it went smoothly.
Checked into Cabana Bay Resort at Universal tonight. Long checkin line but was upgraded from standard room to poolside interior entry family suite. Not that I need the extra room.

Looking into a last minute trip, would be solo, thinking maybe of orlando and just hanging at disney for 4 days... I haven't made any final decisions just booked flights with SW on points so can always cancel. Not much availability of resorts...but I could piece something together. Any other recommendations for a solo quick trip? Thanks for being the best thread on the dis!

:cheer2: Congratulations! :cheer2:

Don’t forget the Aspire earns 14x Hilton points on Hilton purchases and comes with a $250 resort credit, which works at the Grand Wailea.

I'm still waiting for my FNC after receiving one of those emails on 11/4/19. 90 days and counting...
IME, the FNCs post in batches around the start of every month. So anyone who’s been waiting 8-12 weeks could have their FNC post with the next batch, or they’ll have to wait another month. Since I’ve been waiting 12 weeks from my anniversary, I’m expecting my FNC posts in the next few days.

And, as expected, my 35k Marriott FNC that I’ve been looking forward to since my card anniversary in November finally posted to my account today. That makes it a 91 day wait.

For those of you who have been waiting 8-12 weeks now for your Amex Bonvoy FNC to post, you might want to check your Marriott account since Amex tends to deposit the FNCs in monthly batches.

My Bonvoy Brilliant FNC posted on Saturday 2/1. I opened the card November 20 and the anniversary email came on December 2, so my wait was less but the batch theory holds.

Thanks, I'm excited :) I'm really hoping it arrives in time. I already paid my club dues for 2010, which would have been nice for that 14x, but next year!

Hey - I have less than a million Marriott points (at least temporarily)...

I just booked a couple of placeholder Swan reservations for early November. We might want to go down to Sea World and I just love the BW area of Disney so much I thought it would be neat to stay there. Of course paying the stupid resort fee and parking charges don't sit well with me so I don't see this plan sticking...but I figured I'd at least lock the rooms in now while I can.

EDIT: And while I'm at it, I just booked Swan for our January dates for next year. Again, probably won't stay there, but at least I have it now, HAHA! I love having a crap-ton of Bonvoy points laying around!
I love the BW area too! We stay at Boardwalk most of our trips with our DVC points. We love just walking around the lake and the vibe of the whole area. I have never stayed at the Swan but definitely would if I had points there to use too!

AFs posted on both my and DW's Chase Marriott Biz cards. Called for retention, no dice, so I closed them. We had already received the free night certificates.

I may have kept these open had I not just been trying to book the free nights. Marriott's peak/off-peak stuff is so frustrating. I was looking at a few dates over the next few months in Philadelphia and NYC, and of course they're all 40k peak so I can't use the certificates.

I'm just not interested in fighting even more to make sure I'm making up the value of the annual fee and dictating our vacation time around Marriott's games, so that's that.

Could someone help me remember, or point me to where it's spelled out on the rules of TY points cards. Here's our history with them.

Received TY Premier cards 8/2017 - converted DH to Rewards+ 8/2019; I converted to Double Cash card 8/2019

I cant remember if you cannot apply for another TY card if you currently hold any card that earns points or if it just had to be 24 months from receiving and/or cancelling card. If the latter is the case, does it count changing cards? So would my clock have reset when I converted last August?

Thanks for any information!
