I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Which cards are these? If they have no annual fees or can be product changed to a no fee card, I'd keep them open as they help contribute to your average age of accounts ("AAoA"), which is a major factor in the makeup of your credit score. Additionally, AAoA factors into Chase's "bust out" risk analysis. Customers with thin credit history are viewed as higher risk, especially when they appear to start seeking additional lines of credit (resulting in hard inquiries) and opening a lot of new credit card accounts with Chase and other issuers (that show up on your credit reports). Chase shuts down these overly risky customers. Put a small charge on your cards once or twice a year to keep them "active" so the bank doesn't close these accounts for inactivity. This is fairly easy to do since Chase credit cards now have "Chase Offers" that offer savings at many restaurants and retailers you probably already spend money at, and some of these offers are useful for discounts on Disney Gift Cards.
Oh I'm keeping them all open, and generally do make sure to put at least occasional spend on them. I actually spent some time this weekend rearranging some of my monthly fee subscriptions to spread them around, and moved some of the smaller monthly fees to cards that don't reward well but which I want to maintain in good standing . For the record, my Chase cards are
  • the Disney Visa Premium, about 15 years old, and which I need to downgrade to the regular no fee version. I've been meaning to do that for a while. I figure I can ask for the downgrade and reduced credit limit at the same time;
  • the no-fee Bonvoy Bold, already downgraded from the old Chase Marriott card (I moved my Marriott activity to AmEx but keep this account open for account age purposes); and
  • the Chase Freedom (another product change from the Sapphire Reserve which I held for 2 years), which usually gets nice spend 2 quarters every year depending on the categories, but does not need the massive credit limit it carries.
Thanks much for the added info and advice.

Does anyone have knowledge regarding Disney military tickets?

My son wants to go on our next trip and he would purchase a military ticket. However, deployment is looming and we don't have a date for that. He needs a ticket so I can get Fastpasses, but there's always a possibility between FP day and the trip something could happen and he not make it. That could also prevent him from even going in 2020. The ticket expires at the end of the year. I'm not sure what to do here. Would Disney do anything if he purchased the ticket, but then was unable to use it this year due to deployment?

Can I purchase a regular 4 day ticket, assign to him in order to make FPs, then he could get a military ticket closer to the trip? Could I then reassign my 4day ticket to someone else to use next year or beyond? I hate to have him buy a ticket, then possibly not be able to use it at all. But, I also want to get the same FPs for all of us.
I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I think that if you had a military salute ticket that were unable to use you could apply that to a ticket in the future. With the high discount that the military salute tickets get I think I'd rather get that one and take the chance than get another regular four day ticket, that you know that you would end up having to use for someone else (either because he ends up getting the military ticket or he is deployed and can't go).

My step dad had purchased the military salute tickets for himself, my Mom, my kids, and me a few years ago. He is retired military. He ended up having a subdural hematoma and was unable to go on the trip. My Mom had an ID and she was able to validate the tickets when we got there. I sent Disney a message to see if we could convert that ticket and they replied that I could, but would have to do it at guest services. Well, I always forget and haven't tried yet.

Nothing I'm planning to book just was looking somethibg up when I saw this and it has me stumped.

What is/why does it say, subject to government approval. I'd think it had to do with the recent travel bans but this is for Sept and wasn't on all flights to/from the mainland.

I can’t answer your specific question, but I would venture to guess that Disney might work with him if he got deployment orders. Every time you buy a salute ticket the ticket office generally tells you they are non-refundable. But I was able to get 4 salute tickets refunded when Irma happened. Disney wouldn’t refund them directly, as I bought them on post through the ITT, but they told me to go back to the ITT and ask for them to reach out to Disney. After initial pushback from the ITT, once they called Disney, I got the refund. Now that was under the hurricane policy, but I would imagine Disney would be accommodating for deployment orders.

The rule is that the military person/or spouse has to use one of the tickets, he can buy up to 6 tickets. Have him buy them from Shades of green, they will sell the tickets activated. Once you receive the activated tickets you can assign them to anyone. The intention is for people not to resell the tickets, but in your situation I don't think you all would be violating the rules on purpose if you reassign it to someone else in the family. Does that make sense?

Last time I saw something like that it was for a new/additional route that needs gov't approval. I guess its one of those paperwork things and just takes time to work through the bureaucracy.

it looks like a rather new route, i searched 2 months away and couldnt get it generated.

I’m about to just give up transferring my cruise to Chase. I thought third time was a charm. At first the girl said yes, I’d be able to use my Urs later for one payment to Chase. Then she asked if I had called Royal about transferring. I told her no bc I thought Chase handled it. She put me on hold for like 20 minutes. When she came back she said according to her supervisor they could handle the transfer but I would have to make a payment to Chase today using all my points.
I might try once more tomorrow but I’m about to just transfer to Costco. Might not be as good of a deal but I think I’m running off of Chase travel reps

Missed that it's into haneda. Also thought we'd had commercils or online ads about the new route so I thought it was done. That makes sense why it was only the Sea routes.

I’ve been looking at ANA flights every day for awhile now out of most airports in the us because we’re planning on going next year. There are a lot of Seattle flights with that same route in November/beginning of December on United’s website (ANA flights). I’ve been having a heck of a time finding anything much in December for any airport in the us for two adults.

I just lowered CL on 3 Chase cards for DH and I. Sent a SM this morning, by afternoon they messaged back and they were lowered. Easy peasy, but I would have never known about doing this via SM if it weren't for the helpful ppl on this thread. Thanks!!

CIPs, here we come :)
Good luck! 🍀 hoping for instant approval. If not the status line # is (800) 432-3117. Save it as a contact.

That's good to know. I think I read they can't be upgraded, but I haven't read much beyond that.

That is a DP I'm looking for. I really do think Disney will work with us, just not sure, he would have orders to show and I can't think of a place that penalizes for anything when orders are in hand.

DH, the littles and I have APs this year. It would just be for him this time. However, post-AP I will most likely have him purchase tickets for us, which was the original plan before I blew it all up with APs lol

i see a lot of SEA-->SFO-->HND. only the SEA-->HND for NH pending government approval.

Then was reading about the Citi Premier with Thank You Points. Current offer is 60,000 points with $4,000 spend. So, if reading correctly that 60,000 points would equal $750 in TYP which could be Disney Tickets... Is this a pretty good offer - has it gone higher? If DH and I both get this card are we able to combine points. Neither of us have had any TYP Cards.
I signed up for that card last fall. I had not seen it higher but I’ve not followed it for long. Yes, 60,000 points will get you $750 in Disney tix. In December I was able to pull up Disneyland tix on the TYP portal and the price was higher than retail (like $550 for tix on Disney’s website for $470) and it showed the points needed as 1:1 or 55,000 TYP in my example above. When I looked this past Saturday I couldn’t bring up any tickets on the TYP (not Universal either which I thought were there before.) When I called though, the Cruise and Tour Department was able to find them and the price was exactly the same as Disney’s price and TYP were worth 1.25 Long story short, don’t look on the TYP site and call the Cruise and Tour department.
ETA: I’m not sure if you can combine points from 2 people. I did transfer from one card to the other, but my name is on both cards. Once transferred the points expire after 90 days
