I know we have a lot of different backgrounds here so I thought I'd ask before I dove into the google rabbit hole.
I got my dad's death cert today and it lists the cause as lewy body dementia with failure to thrive. This wasn't what I was expecting because the last I'd been told was he had parkinsons and dementia was a potential side effect he was showing symptoms of.
From my reading in the simplest of form, this form of dementia is caused by protein in the brain and can show as parkinsons early on. Does this mean they would have a test that shows this? And the diagnosis was changed and they just didn't tell me? (Not surprised, long story).
I don't have an easy way to find out, no one on that side talks to me any more (long story but their loss not mine) and I'd like to know for my own health history. Esp as he's the only one on either side to be diagnosed with either.
It's been over 5 years so not trying to fix family issues to figure this out and both my mom and I will ask our dr's about it since we both have our yearly checkups coming up. Just confused and annoyed.
