The last movie we saw was Spies in Disguise (I don't recommend). I love going to the movies. We're going to see 1917 today at 4:30 because that's the cheapest movie time. For some reason they don't have anything earlier than 4:30 pm today. I guess because it's been out for awhile.
We normally go to at least a couple a month. My DD was a film major 😜 but this new job is screwing it all up. DH and I are going to see Joker tomorrow I think. She had no interest in that one.

You’re going to the theater to see Joker? We just rented it a couple weeks ago from Redbox.

Hey @cajunmommy and other NOLA peeps, would love a little input.
Doing our final planning for our trip at the end of March. Have already extended a day because there is so much to see and do.
Planning on Audubon Zoo and Aquarium, swamp tour, and a historic riverboat tour (stops at battlefield, DSs request)
For food, on our list
Court of 2 Sisters (probably overpriced but we liked it before)
Brennan’s
Central Grocery
Café Du Monde
Acme oyster

Any can’t miss restaurants? Any place near the zoo for lunch? We ate at Camilla Grill a long time ago, it was good but not gotta do it again good. We won’t have a car. Mostly walking and trolley. TIA
When I went with friends a couple years ago Brennan’s was COMPLETELY overrated (and overpriced). I’d been pre-Katrina and it was an amazing meal. When I went back a couple summers ago it was an overpriced, rundown, tourist trap. It had changed hands or something and is a world away from the days where it earned its reputation :( ....It’s been too long and the restaurant scene changes too fast for me to recommend any place but that was so big a disappointment I will never forget it. Hopefully our NOLA peeps can guide you somewhere better!

We like the Court of Two Sisters. I agree, it can be a bit overpriced, but we enjoy it.
Typically we prefer to eat near or in the quarter, rather than near the zoo. There just isn't much we really care for on that end.
We really like the food at Cafe Maspero on Decatur. Have you thought about visiting the World War II Museum?

Good to know. My last visit was also pre-Katrina though DH has been more recently.

We were trying to plan Aquarium and Zoo same day so looking for a lunch spot. Maybe we will just eat in FQ before heading to Zoo. Is there still a riverboat that does Zoo to FQ?y
DS might like the museum but one war related activity per vacation is more than enough for me.

I've tried to catch up on Dischurners but won't be able to catch up on here, so please let me know if I've missed something terribly important!

Baby Girl is almost 3 weeks old already and doing great. She didn't have a name for about 10 days. We finally decided and named her Rosemary. 😊

I realized somewhere around 3 am in a sleep deprived stupor that I hadn't booked my rooms for DC in April yet! Since we are in need of two rooms and going at an expensive time we are a LOT short. So, is it ever a good idea to buy points? Hilton has the double offer right now and I'm thinking that would be cheaper than paying the difference. Thoughts?

Just referred P2 for CIP. It’s pending.

Thinking ahead to fall break, I’m pretty sure we want to go to Arizona. Thoughts on where to stay in the Phoenix and Sedona areas? We’ll have five of us - two adults, one 17 yo, one 13 yo and a 2 yo. Something with a suite or at least a divider would be preferred. We could pay cash, use the UR portal, or if someone suggests a Wyndham timeshare, we have a friend who will book us on points.

:offtopic: I know we have a lot of different backgrounds here so I thought I'd ask before I dove into the google rabbit hole.

I got my dad's death cert today and it lists the cause as lewy body dementia with failure to thrive. This wasn't what I was expecting because the last I'd been told was he had parkinsons and dementia was a potential side effect he was showing symptoms of.

From my reading in the simplest of form, this form of dementia is caused by protein in the brain and can show as parkinsons early on. Does this mean they would have a test that shows this? And the diagnosis was changed and they just didn't tell me? (Not surprised, long story).

I don't have an easy way to find out, no one on that side talks to me any more (long story but their loss not mine) and I'd like to know for my own health history. Esp as he's the only one on either side to be diagnosed with either.

It's been over 5 years so not trying to fix family issues to figure this out and both my mom and I will ask our dr's about it since we both have our yearly checkups coming up. Just confused and annoyed.

Hello, all! I’m a long time lurker that has learned a lot from all of you amazing people! I have a problem that I have not been able to figure out on my own, so I’m hoping for some help. I have UR points on a CIC that I’m trying to transfer to P2’s CSR. I believe I was able to do it in the past, but when I tried after my points posted this month, it says “unable to transfer points to this card at this time.” I don’t really want to contact Chase because I don’t want any eyes on my account due to an advanced strategy that is often discussed here. I am unable to unlink the other two business cards that are on my account. I have tried transferring to both of my other cards and then trying to transfer from there and that doesn’t work, either. When I checked his account, I noticed that there was a way to “unlink” his already linked business card, but mine does not give me an option to unlink. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance...

As far as I know, there’s no test for Parkinson’s- like a ct scan or blood test or whatever. It’s based on symptoms.

And Lewy body dementia can only be officially diagnosed via autopsy.

I think Lewy body dementia is the related to Parkinson’s as it’s caused by the same protein build up in cells. And can cause similar symptoms. So you can’t really tell which one it is until you can examine the brain on an autopsy.

I understand family issues perfectly and I am sorry that you are dealing with it right now. As far as I understand it, Lewy body dementia is not Parkinson's, but having one does not necessarily rule out the other (I am not a medical professional, so take my opinion for what it's worth). However, given the fact that "the other side" doesn't talk to you anymore, I would go with your gut that the diagnosis was changed during the course of his illness and they just did not inform you. Again, I'm sorry.

Yes it is
Is the Caribe a family friendly resort that would be good for a 5 night stay? I had my eye on the one that was apparently taken out by the hurricanes a couple years ago. It still isn’t available and not sure if they plan to rebuild or not.
Yes, family friendly. Kids pool and the whole bit. There are daily activities for free too.

Has anyone used the Chase portal today? Trying to book a rental car and I get all the way through and I get Sorry can not complete at this time.

I just used it to book a speculative hotel for my dad's 60th birthday trip. I'm on it through my CSR account.

Does Hilton waive the resort fees and or parking fees when using points. We are island jumping next month. We decided last night to spend some time on the big island and then jump to Honolulu. Looking at Hilton Waikiki or Hilton village Waikiki. Basically anything that I can use points on and our diamond status.

We have finished up DH's Hilton spend with our WDW trip (thanks, lightsabers!) and now I'm trying to decide on next moves. When I got back from vacation my boss asked if in the future I could spread out my trips a little further from the holidays so we don't have two months in a row with lower billable hours. Oops! That means the earliest I could take two weeks for our Japan trip would be February 2021. DH can't take off work during Easter season, which is mid-February through the first week of April in 2021. So now our winter 2021 Japan trip has turned into a spring 2021 Japan trip and I don't need to worry about booking hotels or air until May or so. This means I have time to earn and burn some more URs!

If you were taking your Star-Wars obsessed dad to Galaxy's Edge for his 60th birthday weekend, would you take him to WDW or Disneyland/DCA? We went to WDW together in March 2018 and he hasn't been to Disneyland since the 90s I think. I went ahead and booked the Best Western across the street from Disneyland just in case but haven't pitched the idea yet. I am open to itinerary suggestions and opinions!

No ...unfortunately not ..only CIU or CIC supports CIU

Shoot....I have a CIC already...is self-referral through Chase a no-no like it is with Amex? Can't remember at the moment...not sure I can handle a CIP right now but a no-fee option sounds good.

I think some here may self support....but it’s not recommended From what I’ve read in the private reddit thread

Yes, I like to see movies on the big screen. Our matinees are only $5 in leather recliners, and they have yummy popcorn.
I just didn’t realize it was still in theaters somewhere since it’s out on dvd. Our movie today is $5.99 so not too bad
