Can somebody figure out how to monetize/cash these out? I have no use for them unless I can convert them into money, LOLOL!!!! Yet I have 2 CSRs at my disposal!

You could use them at WDW maybe. I've never used DD there so I'm not sure if they have it, but obviously Lyft is there.

The CSR is still a decent proposition as a new card - hopefully an increased SUB might come along with the increased fee - but the SUB and the ability to redeem at 1.5 on the Chase portal make it worth keeping for a year. Don't forget - you can kinda double dip the $300 travel credit and then downgrade to get the balance of the second years AF refunded.
I’m eligible for a CSR again in sept. Got my first one in 8/16 and met the MSR immediately with bank funding. If chase offers an increased bonus, I’d be happy to get the card again and DD the travel credit 🥰

OK Newbie doordash question - so does this credit mean I can place an order for $60 and it will effectively cost me nothing? I was assuming the $60 credit was against delivery charges only. If it goes against food and delivery I will find a way to use it.
found this in a new TPG guy article.
Starting January 12, Sapphire Reserve cardmembers will automatically earn statement credits of up to $60 in 2020 and $60 in 2021 on DoorDash purchases, no activation required. This is not an installment, these credits will be available immediately.

I haven't seen the sign up better than 50k since the 100k one went away (which i got). It would be interesting to see if they brought back the 100k if people moved spend away from this card.

Quick takeaways:

$550 AF. Ooof.

Lyft
  • Unlike the Amex Platinum, which offers $200/year ($15/month January-November and $35 in December) in Uber credits, the CSR is offering NO Lyft credits.
  • The CSR is offering ONE YEAR of "Lyft Pink," which gets you a 15% discount on rides and other benefits.
  • You'll earn 10x UR on Lyft (for a year?).
  • 10x UR on Lyft spend is actually pretty good, since Lyft typically does not sell their GCs through third-parties and discounts on Lyft credit can be hard to find.
  • Without factoring the generous earn rate on Lyft, you'll need to spend $1,333.33/year with a 15% discount on Lyft to equal the $200/year credits that the Amex Plat divvies out every month.
  • You can find Uber GCs on sale for 10-15% off pretty frequently.
  • Quality of service between Lyft and Uber is negligible since most drivers drive for both services.
  • These ride hail services benefit people in major metropolitan areas the most.
  • You really need to ride Lyft a lot to make this benefit work for you.
DoorDash
  • The CSR's new $120 in DoorDash is divvied up $60 in 2020, $60 in 2021. Will you be paying 2x AFs during this period?
  • Unclear from TPG if the DoorDash credit is issued in a lump sum or month-by-month (in which case, that's $5/month!). $60 credit will be available in one lump sum immediately.
  • Unclear from TPG if the DoorDash credit will continue beyond 2021 (if DoorDash is still around by then).
  • By comparison, the Amex Gold's $120 "dining" credit, which includes competitor Grubhub, is calendar year and divvied up $10/month.
  • Again, these food delivery services are most available to people in major metropolitan areas.
  • DoorDash is a pretty scummy company that's been skimming tips from their Dashers.
  • DoorDash is also a failure in safeguarding their customers' data from hacks.

I see some good options near us with DoorDash. Could do pickup too, avoids the delivery tip and service fee (not too sure how much that is with DashPass). And avoids the risk of the driver eating your food, lol. Glad it's not $5/month!

Ooo, excellent point. I wonder if it works for the Minnie vans.

I am wondering if anyone has any advice on a new card that would be best for rewards to travel to Hawaii ? I currently have the Chase Sapphire. But dont have enough points. I was looking at Delta amex, i think there is a 70,000 bonus. Hawaiian has a 60,000 bonus. Any advise ? Our preference is to go over Thanksgiving or the christmas/new years break and I need any help I can get on the airfare....OUCH
Are you doing anything with biz cards?
For those of you doing the upgrade/downgrade......I use my CSR card for the security fee on SW flights and book hotels with URs on the Chase Portal.
my understanding is if the CSR card is downgraded before the trips are taken the travel protection is lost. Is this correct ?
Yeah - I believe that’s how it works. 😔
We PC’ed from dh’s CF to a CSR and no AF yet.
When did you do that? We need months here!! 🤣 😛

@wanderlust7 I have a discount of 20% for 5* riding It does work with the Minnie van I just checked.
the question is does that 5* rider discount they give that is 10-20% off the stack with the 15%? then I might start taking lyft actually.

I'd love to help, but I don't have enough information. Help us help you by answering these questions:

Unfortunately, you're looking at traveling over the most expensive times to fly and stay in Hawaii. Where are you flying from? What island(s) are you looking at? How long of a vacation are you planning? What are you doing about accommodations? Are you open to off or shoulder season travel? Flights arriving and departing midweek?

"These changes include a swap from an upfront price to an estimated price range for those requesting non-Pool rides. The final price for your ride will be calculated at the end of the trip, rather than before you actually request it. . . . they will also be discontinuing some Uber Rewards benefits for California trips, such as price protection on a ride and flexible cancellations."

Thanks...I have various flights and hotels booked that are passed my AF date so keeping the CSR as is

I am in a similar situation with trips booked thru the end of the year on DWs CSR that I don't want to lose the insurance on.

So yeah, whilst I am not happy at the extra $100 AF, the CSR probably still has some value to us.

the more i think about it the more i know that AMEX isn't accepted as much as I would like it to be just disappointed with the fee increase also all the verbiage I see about the csr new benefits they say until Dec 31 2021 which means they only made these deals for 2 years so if something gets dropped and the annual fee stays the same I will come here to complain I'm sure of it haha

Well I’ll make use of the additional CSR credits but the annual fee increase stinks. I spend way too much money on doordash getting food delivered. I also spent $800 on Lyft last year so at a 15% discount that’s $120 in value plus 6,800 URs so another $68. Guess I shouldn’t complain.
