Just got back from Peru yesterday with ABD. I was trying to keep up with this thread on my iPad at night, but lost track several days ago.

I used an AmEx offer at the JW Marriott Lima before the start of the trip (spend $1,000.00 save $100.00), but the credit hasn't posted yet. Will have to set a reminder to call next week as the AmEx credits usually post pretty quickly.

Also used a Bonvoy FN certificate for ds at the Westin Lima the first night of the ABD so he could have his own room (he had his own room at the JW Marriott with AA points from dhs account).

The ABD was great. Hotels were all very good, food was excellent and our group was, for the most part, really good. Highlight of the trip for me was Machu Picchu, which is really indescribable. I can't say enough good things about ABD, so if you are thinking of one, definitely do it. There is so much magic on the trips and the guides are (almost) always outstanding. There were 35 on our trip (a family of 4 had to cancel the first day of the trip due to health issues -- a reminder to always have trip insurance), which was a good number. Once we left Lima our group split into 2 since large buses don't fit on the roads in the Sacred Valley (some of the roads wind up and down mountains). Dd and I had started taking altitude sickness preventative medication in Lima (diamox) and I am super glad that we did. There were several that were affected once we got to the Sacred Valley (all teenagers), one having to have the doctor come to the resort. Once we hit Cusco, ds was hit pretty hard for a day, as were 3 others. I found it very hard to breathe going up stairs / hills and this got much worse once we arrived in Cusco, but I wasn't physically ill, so for that I am very grateful. I will post a more detailed summary on the ABD
section once I have more time to gather my thoughts. Unfortunately I did contract some kind of stomach illness in Cusco, not sure if it is related to altitude or not, but I am hoping it will resolve now that we are back in N. America. I have lost my appetite and find it hard to even look at food (harsh words for a moderate foodie).

I hope I didn't miss too much and Happy New Year everyone!

Question on this. I was just approved for a SW Personal card (the morning of the better offer being announced :(). My account shows payment due 3/2/20, so according to this, the statement will probably close around 2/26 - 2/28 depending on if they count weekends or just business days. I will for sure have the $1,000 minimum spent by then. Should I wait to try to match the current offer until after the first statement closes and get the original bonus points, or in the long run, would it matter since it's kind of a two tiered bonus anyway?? If they match, I assume I would still get the first 40,000 points after meeting the initial $1,000 spend and then get the additional 35,000 points after meeting the other $4,000 in the next few months.

Thanks for any opinions!

So @brownhaired_girl asked for a match yesterday and was told yes. I would not wait, I'd ask now. And yes, if they match you they should specifically reference adding an additional 35,000 points once you have spend $5,000 within 6 months. They also will tell you to send them an SM back once you've completed the spend. This is a YMMV situation as @brownhaired_girl's mother was told no on a match and they sent basically identical SMs at the same time yesterday and applied at the same time originally... so go figure!

I’d also note that a common reason for denial is because the new offer is via “support,” and not one that is publicly offered. Depending on where you draw your line, some people have cropped out the mention of support from their screen caps.

Three days after your payment date makes your statement close on 2/5, 3/5, etc.

I’m planning to buy USO tickets from UT for my trip next month. I’ve never purchased from UT before. Do the tickets come through immediately via email? I was thinking of just buying them once we get to Orlando.

I was helping a friend with SW cards. Not a total expert but I know enough about CP and RR that I was able to walk her through it. Then she said her and her husband want to go to Indonesia. Way outside my expertise but based on what I read here and looking at United, it does look like they could fly there from the west coast on ANA. From my reading on here she would need to book round trip to use award travel on ANA. So now for the really, really stupid question. Does the round trip have to arrive and leave from the same airport in Indonesia? Example LAX - CGK (Jakata); CGK- LAX is definitely round trip. Is LAX - CGK; DPS (Bali)- LAX round trip as well? Thanks for helping a friend. Calling @calypso726 @ten6mom

. . . the world's most expensive 5 mile tow . . .

This reminds me that I've been meaning to check whether the CSR still has the roadside assistance, now that I assume all of the AmEx cards have ended that benefit. Anyone know? With the talk of a CSR AF increase, the roadside assistance would help swallow that.

Also, glad you are okay!

They say to allow 24 hours, I think. I even called them to ask because my cousin was in Orlando and wanting to go into USO that day and they said it is all dependent on when the tickets are sent to them from Uni. They don't have an inventory of tix sitting ready to send out. However, all our Disney tix have arrived by email very fast.

Did Amex end this on the plat? I used it last Aug or Sept (back when I still had a plat :( )

Has anyone done a DVC rental through a company vs. individual lately? Do rentals with a company typical code as travel or something else? Do UT tickets still code as travel as well?

Called Disney+ again since dh’s account still doesn’t work and we’ve been charged twice for the free account and the promised refund has never happened. The CM read back through all the notes - every chat and call since nov 13, when we finally got through to someone. He said no one ever actually entered enough info to “escalate” it properly. So he supposedly did that and gave us a case number this time. He also requested a refund for the charges and he removed the billing info so I won’t be charged again BUT by doing that, he also cancelled the “free” account because I got a ‘sorry to see you go’ email after getting off the phone.
It’s really hard to believe we’re still dealing with this almost 2 mos after Disney+ launched.
Is it possible you finally got to somebody who can help though??
Hopefully! He did spend a ton of time reading back through everything and that alone made me feel better. He opened a case, gave us the number and read to us what he typed up. Said he was escalating it to their highest team and marked it at a ‘highest priority’ level. So I was optimistic getting off the phone. He said to call back on the 14th if we’ve not heard from anyone.
UGH! I really hope the person you got was competent today! It seems like a step in the right direction considering he saw all the other notes and calls. Pixie dust it finally works for you!

I would also keep an eye on DHs other Disney accounts after they royally messed up his MDE. I have trust issues 🤣

@Alexle2007 Did your SW points post yet? I just got mine from a close date of 1/5. Hope you got yours and your CP is all set!!

I saw your post and I just checked my account and my points are there! I checked about 20 minutes ago and they weren't, then saw your post and checked again since I had a 1/5 close date too, and they're there! Yay!!! :yay::yay:

I really wish I hadn't changed our flight home from after our cruise from 3/23 to 3/22. DS would have loved to Marshmello. Live+ is playing while we are there and I really like their music.
I totally missed Marshmello is on there too. I wouldn’t mind seeing him too. I doubt we’ll go to either though. We probably won’t do universal for a long time
