Last year, I was lucky enough to get Platinum Elite Bonvoy Status with all of the bonus nights from the cards. I got Platinum Elite status again this year with spend (I had bonus points offer that made the spend worth it for me) but not nights. I didn't realize that I can't get the suite nights without the 50 night stays. So your Platinum elite but can't have all of the benefits? I'm starting to understand why Bonvoy gets no love. lol

This question is based off my understanding (assumption?) that Mastercard giftcards aren't working on Plastiq anymore for mortgage. Correct me if i'm wrong. Buuutttt if I'm right - what's the best way to continue accruing some CC benefit from paying off my mortgage in this way. I googled "mastercard good credit help help" but surprisingly, didn't get me the results I was looking for.

I have been paying my mortgage either with Arrival Plus or the last year AA cards. AA is not going to happen anymore, so in December I paid with the Arrival Plus. Next month though I won't have any more fee free dollars so I am thinking I will pay like a PEASANT the usual way. An option out there is to get the Discover IT Miles card. It is 1.5% back with miles/money matched after first year. If you are willing to burn a personal spot it could be a good option. It is also no annual fee which is nice.

I like this group, so I'm gonna ask this off topic question here.

If you are job hunting, do you have a system for tracking ones you've applied for? What kind of info would you mark down?
This will sound sort of strange but I’ve never really job hunted before. Like...I wanted to answer this question and I’m like ummm not sure you’d describe what I did as a job hunt lol 🤣

Well here's a dumb question based on something I just skimmed (I just woke up):

When you all (y'all?) talk about the Amex Plat, are you talking business or personal? I mean, they're both pretty spendy... I'm currently at 2/24 so I'm not worried about that but it occurred to me I should probably at least find out which one you're talking about!

Most people here talk about the personal Plat. There is also a Biz version, but the MSR for that one is twice what the personal one is. On the plus side, you can have both! DH has one of each ATM, although I think the biz will be downgraded next year. There is info on how to apply for the biz one (just in case you are interested) on dischurners.

just wait until u get a Bonvoyed moment...

Mostly off topic post, it has been a rough day, my cat GusGus had to have surgery today to remove a mouth mass, they were able to get it all, so that is good. He is home and for the most part seems to be doing ok, I think mainly distressed about lack of hard food. That pretty much finished off my current MSR. Hopefully, the pathology will come back ok. I leave this weekend for a trip that I kinda got roped into, it is a family trip, to tampa with probably 1 day trip up to disney (but we haven't gotten tickets or any firm plans). I'm just going to try and go with the flow on that one...I have someone staying at my house with Gus so we are all covered there. Send good thoughts my way I need them!

Thanks for the info! I was thinking flying to Ft Lauderdale and spending the night, renting a van and driving to Key West one day, Fort Jefferson the next, and flying to Orlando the following. Does this seem like a do able plan? Would it be kid friendly?

You're welcome. It seems do-able to me. I don't have kids so I couldn't comment on the kid friendly aspect with any first hand knowledge. While plenty of families visit the Keys, it strikes me as more adult centered with lots of bars and adult themed souvenirs.

Question. Does anyone know if Amex Biz Plat Green (free) employee cards (AUs) get global entry credit?

When did you do this? I'm looking to use the 25 off 45 to get my daughter to sign up, but I can't find a link for the 20 or for the other freebies that have been given in the past.

My membership expires in February so can't sign me up again. She will sign up anyway using the 25 off 45 but the extras would also be nice.
https://www.samsclub.com/sams/check...&ranSiteID=CY3NkS.Y9qw-xVNqQLn.k8nz.zOHJA8aIgI applied directly through this link last Thursday. Was a bit nervous it wouldn’t track with Amex, but received $25 credit Monday.

Have any of you taken your kids to a Gymboree type of place? It seems really engaging but also kind of expensive

Yes, I did Gymboree with my first child. It was okay since I was a stay-at-home mom who had just relocated and needed to get out. I personally think it's more for the moms (or dads) than the babies.

Ah okay I probably won’t do it then. Thanks for your experience. If it’s more of a social thing I have my gym for that. I just didn’t know how beneficial it is for the babies. I’m just hoping to find some kind of social setting for our baby

Does Sam's still do referral GCs? They had an offer before where your friend got something too (I think $20) and I think you got a $10 GC. Was going to do it from my Mom's membership but then the $45 scan and go stack with Dosh etc came out last Jan and that was better.

If there's nothing else, that seems like a money maker with the Amex offer if you both get the GCs still.

I took my older son (now 15) to Gymboree. We probably went for about...a year maybe? For me personally it was all about him and most definitely not social hour for me (but I'm not necessarily sociable). He really enjoyed it. Where else can you run around and jump and tumble in a huge room with big thick mats? He also (at about age 2 or 3) had an eye for the pretty girl instructors!

Sadly I did not last time I was applying a few years ago. I made a list of companies that I considered working for in a certain mile radius from where I lived and I checked each website daily and applied to anything new that tempted me. I kept up with the status through each website. Sometimes I got an email, sometimes I didn't. I also signed-up for LinkedIn Premium which was free for a few months as a trial. I really liked the LinkedIn interface because it would share your profile directly and I could stalk the different people/teams 🤣

So you took him once he was older? I’m wondering if taking an infant might be pointless for how expensive it is

I think I’ll just keep our old candyland game lol
Sounds like a plan!
Our box is falling apart and it’s being held together with scotch tape. A few years ago we went to an antique mall and I found monopoly jr which I couldn’t find anywhere. I love it because it doesn’t take nearly as long as monopoly but it’s also super cute.
Do whatever you need to keep it alive! I actually just purchased this because I thought it was adorable

Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash were on it so I needed it 🤣

LOL that's not retro. My game is from the 70s and there is no Plumpy. You're somewhere in the middle I guess. :rotfl:
HAHA I guess it is the awkward millennial edition. 🤣
