Yeah, DOC seems pretty sure. I was just going to post this myself. Came home from work and read that over there, then read unread content from here. Was pretty shocked no one reported it here yet.

I just paid my fee, so hopefully I have another year before an increase. I’ll be cancelling then, more than likely. I’ll see how many URs I can use this summer, and then I’ll transfer whatever is left over to my Freedom, Hyatt, or Sw.

Sad about this. The good thing is this is the card that started me on my points journey, and I got it when it was still 100,000 points.

If someone has only the freedom unlimited, do they have options for travel, like airfare? Can points be cashed out for an airfare purchase? or transferred thru the portal?

Don't think anyone posted this yet. Extra points for Hilton stays. Looks like it's good on award stays as well. Timing worked out for me. I have five nights next month. Not like 2k Hilton points are worth much, but I'll take it.

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/hilt...000-points-every-10-nights-1-6-2020-5-3-2020/

That's awesome if the promo is good on award stays! I've got 3 award nights in Glasgow already booked during the promotion period. Totally agree that 2k Hilton points aren't worth much, but I'm not going to turn my nose down on a freebie 6k points.

Blaaah! I just paid my AF so at least I have until next December but I'm going to assume it's increasing. Blah.

I just paid my AF in the last couple of months too, so feel like I've dodged a bit of a bullet and can assess what changes get made benefit-wise and how much the AF increases. That being said, I'm pretty much with @calypso726 on this and can't imagine ever cancelling or downdgrading my CSR unless the fee increase enters the ridiculous range. We do actually put a fair amount of travel spend on this card for 3x and my DH uses it for dining (while I diversify and use my Amex gold), so it's also a pretty big earner for us.

Argh, it might. There's rumor going from DoC's comments there's more updates rolling out on 1/12 for a Lyft credit and so from 1/12 new apps will get a new AF.
Could be a really awesome troll or the 1/12 dates are lining up.

Of course my AF is going to hit 5/1. Guess I'll start now convincing hubby that it's his turn :worried:

It is not even a lyft credit. It looks like a lyft membership that gives you 15% off rides. That really sucks. You would have to use Lyft a lot to get any kind of meaningful benefit from that. I wonder if I can have DDs use it instead of us. I just upgraded in December, was hoping it would take awhile for the AF to hit, now I am hoping it hits me before April 1.

If it was a Lyft credit that worked like the Amex Plat Uber credit, that would be attractive to me, since I pretty regularly burn through my monthly Uber credits. The 15% off thing doesn't sound quite as attractive....

I think the most upsetting thing about this is the upgraded corral placement. Runners work hard to get times that will place them in certain corrals. Will they get bumped back to another corral so those that paid for this club can take their spot? They only allow so many people per corral.

I did miss that as it's a Platinum only benefit... and ya, I pay for platinum nothing here :)… but in the FAQ's it makes it seem like probably not since you can place higher than your upgrade entitlement.

What if I qualify for a higher corral placement than my membership upgrade offers?
Club runDisney members will receive an upgraded corral placement for each event they are registered. However, if a member already qualifies for a higher corral, they will remain in their higher corral.

So kinda sounds like maybe a separate corral in the middle? Or there's a ceiling of some type. Since it's limited memberships into the club and there's some flexibility in the corral numbers I think they're thinking it'll even out. Guess we'll find out later this year.

@CaliforniaGirl09 and I were exchanging emails about this earlier today. It seems like an awful lot of money for a jacket and a special race bib. The Silver level doesn't even guarantee a race slot! And AP and/or DVC members already have access to early registration, so that's not much of a benefit for anyone in those categories. It would be a lot more meaningful if it included one annual registration fee or something. I just can't see doing this unless one plans to attend all of the races and is local. The early expo benefit for the Platinum wouldn't really be of use to me since I don't always get to WDW the day before the expo opens.

Just got Bonvoyed. 16K point reservation got changed to 18K points...same reservation numbers.
ugh dont want to hear that have 2 reservations with a certificate used in a few months they do that ill drop the card can't wait for my Hyatt sign up bonus already might have to just eat it on 10k points I can wait though.

Do you have any other hotel points or are you sticking with URs? Do you have an idea of what you'd like to pay? Prices vary wildly. Off the top of my head, I'd check out the Hilton Garden Inn New York Central Park South-Midtown West. Usually has good rates and it's in a great location in a less busy area north of Times Square on 54th St, and the Richard Rodgers Theatre is an easy walk down 8th Ave to 46th St. There are also tons of boutique non-chain hotels that might be a better use of URs too, but they get pricey.

We've stayed at this HGI twice and its a great location to Broadway shows. It's also close to Times Square if you want to do any people watching. Fun fact - its across the street from where the old Studio 54 was. Of course, you can't tell now but its fun to imagine all the action that happened across the street.

They can not be used to transfer to airlines or hotels. Only the premium card points can like CSP, CSR, CIP. However, you can transfer those CFU points to the account of a premium card you or one member of your household owns and then they can be transferred to airline or hotels. Their value will increase from 1.0 to 1.25 or 1.5 depending on the card you transfer to. Otherwise you can take them as a statement credit or use them for a non-discounted value of 1.0 through the UR portal.

I upgraded in Sept and still haven't been charged the af...

Upgraded my hyatt nov/dec and got my prorated refund but no new af yet either.

No. It's not. Particularly since I have 13 nights of points reservations spread over 4 hotels in 3 countries for this summer. I really do not need to be constantly checking my reservations.

What a mess. I keep asking DH to check our one Marriott reservation in Europe just in case something went wrong. It was 50K a night when booked, and I think it's 60K now (could be 55K though, I just don't remember) but we don't have the points for the higher fee, plus I don't think they can really do this. I am so glad they credited you the points and I guess this means I need to spend the next 7 months checking and worrying about that reservation. #bonvoyed even if they don't mess up my reservation. :sad2:

Marriott is sure making Hyatt and Hilton look great by comparison. I guess that's the real outcome of that expensive "Bonvoy" campaign, even if it wasn't their intent.

thanks. I wonder if this would cause a problem if My son (who currently lives nearby but still gets bank statements etc sent to my home) could transfer to my account for use.....

Nice new avatar, lol! I couldn't let that one go unanswered...See you tomorrow, and thanks for dealing with all of the RotR nonsense. I plead guilty to not visiting the parks thread on that even once and letting you be our fearless WDW leader.
lol happy to assume the role hug I will be very god to see Thursday behind us—although I had the DLR opening to look forward to in a couple weeks for DS22’s birthday.

I figured you would notice the new avatar :)

This was the card that started us out too! Very bummed to see the news about a potential raise in the annual fee. If it’s true, I suspect this will be the nail in the coffin for DH’s card. I’ll keep mine and either get him one or just put mine on Apple Pay for him. Like @Calfan and @calypso726 i can’t see getting rid of it. It’s a big earner for us although quite a bit of spend has moved to our gold and personal platinum.

This. So much. My “ boss” is the manager of the whole foodservice department, she is not a dietitian and has no idea what I really do. There are 6 dietitians. That’s it. No one else really gets our job. One of the pharmacists has a pretty good idea because we work closely. Otherwise no one gets it, they just let me do my job. I literally sit at my desk for 30-45 minutes in the am, then leave and spend the rest of my time in ICU. At the end of my day, back to my office, throw my papers on my desk, get my coat and go. If I had to spend all day in my office or department, I’d quit or be fired for killing someone (well, at least for smacking them)
Oh boy do I feel you! I still roll my eyes thinking about how many patient rooms I walked into only to be met with “oh good I’m ready to order my lunch now.” 🙄 I’m thankful to be in outpatient now, at a gym, with coworkers that actually appreciate me and what I do. However, I still lose my mind over the amount of armchair experts out there, not to mention IG influencers. I would LOVE to be able to go into private practice and be my own boss one day, but there’s bills to be paid and health insurance to maintain for now.

Nothing "new" to report on the Shutdown Front...

Shutdowns have continued. Today there was one with 4 biz cards (2 in '18 and 2 in '19) and 1 personal in '17. That still fits what I've said thus far. All others were more cards than that.

Not to mention how annoying it is to have to dodge all of the slower runners when you get pushed back. I spent the first mile or two of the W&D zig zagging.

Early reports are that Chase is refusing to match to the new SW personal card offer for those that recently applied. I’d still attempt it but set your expectations accordingly. If the offer becomes a public offer it might be worth trying again then also!
And now I'm seeing conflicting reports that matches are occurring - including somebody in our midst who is welcome to share if they so choose. This will be a highly YMMV situation!!

Our Hawaii trip ended with a crazy incident. We stayed at the new Springhill Suites Oakland airport on our way home. Our flight landed at 12:50 am so it was well after 1:00 in the morning by the time we checked in. They gave us our keys and we walked into a room with people sleeping! I’m sure we scared them! Went back down and got a new room. I just checked my email and it looks like we got the room charges for the other room! Guess I’ll be spending my first day in reality sorting that out.

this has paranoid me quite a bit so that every time i walk in, i always put the physical and digital security up right away.
