Also, a word of advice - don't close your account to avoid shutdown :-)
  • T&Cs state that voluntarily closing your account, while in good standing, forfeits all miles but retains all bookings.
However, this doesn't work and will bring more harm than good (i.e. you're basically asking for your shutdown to be expedited).

Ok, so I haven't been real concerned about this as I only have one Citi AA card and frankly, I'm not sure when I would use the miles right now. However, I was planning on cancelling the card soon as I just keep forgetting that I have it and there are better options out there for me. Does this mean if I close the card that I loose all my miles?

I’m not addressing you direct :) you reminded me I wanted to say something about FT...

What we share in regards to this topic on DISChurners is not to be shared anywhere else on the internet including on FT.

back to your regularly scheduled DIS programming!
I don't post on FT. I don't post on or read Dischurners so you're safe. GEEZ people.!

LOL, you two are so funny! Although at first I thought Oski was Joe the Bruin and was super confused (my DH is a UCLA alum).

Have a great run this weekend (what are y'all doing-full or half?). Best wishes for cooler weather than predicted-when I ran my one (and only Marathon) it was 81 or 82 by the end and it was not fun.
🥵

Joe the Bruin, heaven forbid! :). Thanks. We are doing the half with @CaliforniaGirl09 ’s DD. It’s supposed to be in the mid-80s and humid on Saturday so it could definitely be a sweaty affair. I suppose that‘s one silver lining of a 5am race start time and trying to be on a bus by 3:30am, lol.

I believe that my AA account is still ok. I have an award flight coming up Friday. I'm still very worried despite the fact that I should be under AA's radar. I guess I'll be the next data point.

Thanks @gottalovepluto - there is a reason I am somewhat veiled in my comments here. I just want everybody to be careful with what they are sharing. I also have found FT to be an abyss of accusatory holier than thou types.

@smmco - I'm sorry if I misjudged your comment. The mere mention of FT can get me going and my response may have been misdirected. FWIW, I personally don't trust anything shared in that thread as that place seems to be full of moles and trolls (hey that rhymed, lol!) You are certainly a member of DISchurners just by being here and contributing to the thread, you're welcome to read or share anything on our reddit group anytime you want :)

LOL, DH would say the same about...USC? Apparently it's a terrible horrible place-he would pay for any school for DD except there, lol. His ex wife attended Berkeley so he just pretends it (and she) doesn't exist. I try to understand PAC 12 but some of it is still foreign (I do know that I rooted for UT against USC in '05).

The half getting started at 5 should beat the heat although as you know the humidity can be a factor. But y'all are smart and speedy and will be enjoying the parks by 9 I'm sure. :)

I have lurked on the FT thread and boy are they mean to each other. Trying to glean any useful information is pretty impossible.

I read flyer talk because there is a lot of good information regarding hotels, transportation, cruises etc. I don't even have a login there, but it's one of my sources of travel info along with cruise critic and numerous other sites. There's only so much info I can get from the dis boards. 90% of my travel research isn't related to churning. As far as the AA debacle I don't think there's anything posted on FT that's not posted anywhere else. What's going is not like some big secret. The only difference I see is that on FF there are some frequent flyers(or trolls) that may be a little too gleeful about the whole thing. I can see both sides of the issue.

I also have business class tickets to Europe booked on AA saver awards and tickets to Orlando in three weeks booked on AA. I don't think I'm at risk. I opened three cards in the last 6 months one of each, but I've also upgraded seats and bought points.

Thanks! That makes much more sense.

I agree; I was getting nervous the shutdowns were related to CSR and CIP. whew. Good luck to everyone worrying though.

I had to look up my CSR renewal date; its February. I dodged a bullet there. I live in a rural area. The credits won’t do me any good, and I hate to see an AF increase. Looks like I’ll need to continue with more business cards to make up the difference. 👍

And now I'm seeing conflicting reports that matches are occurring - including somebody in our midst who is welcome to share if they so choose. This will be a highly YMMV situation!!
Last October Mom and I both applied for and were declined for the SW business cards. I had to come up with a possible new plan.

The new plan was to try for the in flight 50,000 point offer and then try again later this year for the business cards. We both got approved for personal cards.

Last night I sent SM for both cards requesting the 75,000 point match and got 2 different answers. It appears that I will receive the match after $5,000 spend. “Mom’s” request response was “we’re sorry but no”. I will probably wait a few weeks and send another request from “Mom’s” account. I’m hopeful that we are both able to get these and maybe a few referrals and get our CPs.

I couldn’t work at a gym. Don’t you find lots of know it all trainers who just encourage more protein, more protein? Recently had a patient who literally ate himself into renal failure due to excess protein intake. Despite being told to stop (by dietitians and nephrologists) he continued because weight lifting.
It’s a hospital affiliated gym. So we have regular club members, aerobics, spin classes and such, but we also have cardiac (that’s me), pulmonary, and oncology rehab, as well as diabetes ed and a teaching kitchen on site. It’s awesome! All of our trainers have to have a minimum of a BS in exercise science and they‘re good about staying in their lane when it comes to nutrition. Some of the prn aerobics instructors can be a little obnoxious about it, but the regular staff are great. And I get to workout for free!

Oh that makes a total difference! I used to teach cooking classes for a hospital community health program and found that a lot of fun.

I think it’s awesome that you do ICU! I’ve been out of inpatient so long I wouldn’t remember the first thing about TF or TPN.
