Ohio just called all K-12 schools closed for at least 3 weeks. Others sure to follow.
I’m on the fence about the whole shutting schools down thing. On one hand, there is a lot of contact in a school so I see why they would close. On the other hand, how many of these families/kids are actually going to sit home every day? Not only that, but what about all of the parents that HAVE to go to work to support their families?

That's what I'm thinking! Oh my gosh what about childcare? I can't even imagine what some of those families will be going through. 🙁

KIds are both on spring break from college. They just got an email that spring break was just extended another week. I guess this gives them time to decide if they come back to class or do online school.

I’ve taught in some very low income areas where that just wouldn’t be feasible for the family that has a single parent. The kids would most likely stay home alone and who knows if they’ll get fed

We called DVC about our trip next week. If we cancel our points will be redeposited like they were never booked, no holding period.

This is great to hear. I currently have a DVC ressie for Star Wars Rival Run weekend and would not be at all surprised (am pretty much expecting it) if runDisney cancels that race weekend. I'm rapidly approaching the drop dead date for my 30-day DVC cancellation window and appreciate the flexibility to wait and see rather than rushing to cancel before the window closes.

On a separate note, because I am an eternal optimist, I did book a bunch of SW tix today for the early-season college football games. One away weekend in Las Vegas and two home weekends in Berkeley.

Our Maryland Governor Larry Hogan just had the Superintendent of schools announce all public schools closed for the next 2 weeks.

He also closed the Baltimore cruise terminal except for 2 returning trips in the next few days.

He activated the National Guard, closed all senior centers, hospitals restricting visitors, all prisons no visitors, and too many other things to remember. No groups larger than 250 including churches. All state buildings closed. All expiring permits, licenses extended for 30 days.

This is on the heels of Maryland's first community spread person, where they don't know how the person may have contacted the covid 19.

I worried about that with DD leaving school because she babysits for a family there. They have 4 kids and are low income, not sure what they will do with their babysitters all gone. They have a couple different college kids because of their varying class schedules. Hopefully they have someone local too.

or go to a very overcrowded family daycare. This is really not OK.

I saw someone on a different thread say disneyland is closing through the rest of the month
And I just saw the governor exempted them from all of the large gathering bans. So much mis information, only one of those can be right.

It appears that was correct, just announced, closing through the end of the month.

Will Disney World follow?

I’m not sure if they’ll follow right away or wait until there’s a case in Orange County

I would think that Disney World will follow.

There's probably already unreported (mild) cases out there. And, the president has been exposed again by someone who tested positive - pic showing him at the event standing shoulder to shoulder, but the word is that he had 'no contact'.

You would think they would.....along with the other theme parks.
In NYC all plays are shutting down along with museums etc
