Our school district just cancelled the band trip to Disney World that was supposed to be next week. Feel so bad for these kids. I don’t have a band student but I know they really look forward to it. DS has a state completion that is 4 days at the end of the month for a club he is in. I am thinking that might be done also. Haven’t heard officially though.
Miami is just crazy. I just got an email that my sons Disney band trip next week was NOT cancelled but if it were to be, it was nonrefundable. I hope they give the parents the option of using those hotel rooms that are no refundable and unused if they cancel. Then, my youngest sons school just sent out a form for a field trip next Friday :scared: To quote my teens, miami has no chill - it just keeps going. Everything is going to be decided at the last minute.
The Disney agent handling our high school softball trip said that we can use the rooms/dining plan/ticket packages even if we cancel our participation in the spring training events. Our school district hasn't told us we have to cancel yet, but we have several families (mine included) who will go on our own if so. We would have to make some modifications to the rooming list and cancel some rooms, so the hardest part will be doing the math on the refunds for those who don't go. We had a meeting tonight and all the parents are still on board with the trip with the exception of one or two, but they still plan to go for now.
This must be the same disney band trip my son is (was?) going on and they didn’t cancel today. I’m sure they will soon. Are you getting a refund? They told us nonrefundable. The packages our kids had included 3 day tickets that should be able to be separated and used at another time, I would think. If anyone has experience with band tickets, please I’d appreciate any advice as this is the first time one of my kids participated in this. I have no faith that his school cares enough to try and get the parents some value out of this.
Not a band trip so our reservation policies may be different, but DDs high school softball team is supposed to be leaving next week for their high school spring training program. Package also included the 3 day tickets. I've been the coordinator for our trip so I can tell you what I know from our experience. The package we chose included room, QS dining, and 3 day base tickets. Our tickets can't be separated so if we cancel we're cancelling our tickets too. We have until 2 days before the event to cancel and we are only charged $200/room cancellation fee. The cost we paid per room for 4 people was around $3800 I think? so not too big of a loss. If we cancel within the last two days we lose everything. We told our parents we would be able to refund the total Disney costs they paid minus $50/player if we cancel by Monday. Our airfare is another story. Our parent organization paid for all players and coaches airfare which was approximately $9,000. It is completely non-refundable, and can't be put toward future travel, unless our event is officially cancelled by Disney. I was surprised by this because I know the lenient change policy SW has, but their group contracts are different.

I have a coworker in France. Wonder if she'll get out in time.

Wish they had done this at least a week ago. Once this started exploding in Italy, common sense said it was going to spread fast throughout the Continent.

We all need to do our part to flatten the curve. Wish people weren't so stinkin' selfish.

ETA: Oh, wait. The travel restriction is for foreign nationals? I'm so lost!

On our first V-day as a married couple, my dh had two dozen, long-stemmed roses delivered. I casually asked him how much he spent and I freaked out after I found out how much. That was the last time he had flowers delivered to me and now, I get $8 bouquets once or twice a year lol!

What is funny is that he probably doesn't even remember that v-day is tomorrow and he bought the flowers because the trial I am sitting on is exhausting and stressing me out. Nothing to do with V-day! Once he realizes that, he will be especially proud of himself!

Haha. Reminds me of the $20 dozen of chocolate covered strawberries I decided to get my wife. Heard the ad on the radio as I departed FL. Called to order. Found it's $20 plus $20 for shipping. Well ... ok. Wait, it's $20 more to pack in a cooler because it's a FL address! Ugg ... OKAY.

Called on Valentines Day to make sure they found the box on the front porch, before they started to roast. Wife said she hadn't tried them yet, but the kids were at the table eating them. STOP them, those things are $5 apiece!

Since then, she has been perfectly happy with the ones from Sam's Club. That company sent me emails for every special occasion for years.

Approved for the 100k Amex Bonvoy Brilliant last night. I hadn't even been thinking about those cards because of Marriott's ridiculous restrictions, but I realized my last Marriott card was the Chase Biz January 2018 so I was now eligible, and we have a stay at WDW Swan in a few months that will use up the resort credit. 100k Marriott points aren't the most useful thing in the world to me, but for the net AF of $150 that's good enough.

So who all here is booking SW flights in the AM?

Reminder that low fare calendar or manipulating the search link might yield the ability to book flights before the main search function updates!
We want to, but don’t want to compromise our progress towards CP.

Well I cancelled my NYC trip this weekend. When they cancelled the half marathon, I was still going to go and just enjoy myself in the city. But as much I need a “mommy vacation” these days, I just can’t get over the immense guilt I feel that I could potentially be a part of spreading the virus. The flights with United on points were easy to change (not as easy as SW as I could not cancel without having to pay $125 redepositing fee but I could change free of charge to another flight in the fall). My Marriott reservation, not as easy. Unfortunately, I had a prepaid reservation, so I’m just likely out that $600. Oh well, I guess it is a small price to pay...

That is the biggest reason why we just cancelled our trip. We couldn’t handle the guilt we would feel by potentially spreading the virus.

Freaking Daylight Savings!! (I’m blaming it for everything right now lol)
I jumped an hour forward with everyone else on Sunday, then traveled NY to Chicago on Monday which put me back on the equivalent of standard time, then returned to NY again on Tuesday. I'm not sure what that did to my clock, bt really, it's only an hour, and I generally find that 1-2 hour changes are not too hard to handle and it takes a cross country 3-hour change to reqire real adjustments.

My DW's aunt passed and her funeral is Saturday in Pennsylvania. We vacillated
Also, I think there are a few others here with kids at Michigan; the university just announced it's moving to online classes for the rest of the semester, but the campus will remain open. Announcement is here:

My DW's aunt passed and her funeral is Saturday in Pennsylvania. We went back and forth for almost 48 hours on whether to fly DD home from UMich for the weekend to attend with us. Then the University made this announcement and it was over. She's just staying put.

It also opens up some credit card bonus options. Although I would personally not start churning them, I'm definitely in for at least one or two.

Speaking of Navy Fed credit card options, my wife got this offer, which isn't as good as a CIP, but seems like a good "in-between" card for those that aren't pushing the 5/24 limit:
Flagship Rewards VISA Signature
50k bonus ($500) for $4k spend in 90 days
Up to $100 for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck
3x points on Travel
2x points on Everything Else
No Foreign Transaction Fees
Cell Phone Proteciton
$49 Annual Fee
