This documentary basically covered what the Animation Dept went through during this period. Perhaps due to my age this was especially of interest. It covered Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King. That’s basically my whole childhood right there!!!
I was also a "Disney Renaissance" kid so I get it! *Adds to watchlist* :happytv:

And for those that may watch “Waking Sleeping Beauty” - an interesting fact, you may recognize the name “Jeffrey Katzenberg” throughout the documentary. He went on to co-found Dreamworks and of course be involved in films such as Shrek.
I recognize that name! I had to do a case study in grad school about the Disney-Pixar merger. I was totally "fangirling" the whole time!

Hmmm I could understand that. I hope they follow-through and add more roles like you mention. I would love to see resort concierge! That is what I always wish I could do if I went back and did the DCP! 🤣
There's like a 51yo man and a 40-something yo woman that are on the FB group for the DCP kids for Spring 2020. My dd is a little weirded out by that lol. They are actually going to be in DCP housing and everything

I have REALLY been enjoying “The Imagineering Story” on Disney+. It is captivating and phenomenal...so I start this comment by wholeheartedly recommending that!

Tonight I was looking for something to watch and I stumbled on “Waking Sleeping Beauty”. It was a very interesting documentary on Disney animation in the 80’s and 90’s. It just happened to fit perfectly in the timeline after watching the 3rd episode of “The Imagineering Story”. So for anybody watching that each week, perhaps while you wait for the next episode you might mix this one in this week. 😊

also...I LOVE Disney+!!
We’re loving Disney+ too. Dh has really gotten into boy meets world which surprises me. We’re almost done with season 2 and he turns it on every night at dinner. I watched all of Lizzie McGuire and have moved on to that’s so raven. We’ve watched a couple disney channel movies from when I was a kid. Both of us really like the mandalorian. We’ve watched the imagineering story and I’m not super into it but I’m not really a documentary person.

We're loving "The Imagineering Story" as well! I'll have to check out the "Waking Sleeping Beauty" show. We should have some time this week to watch more since all our evenings will be free thanks to Thanksgiving break.

Hoping to watch more of the "Mandalorian" but I was just kind of meh after the first episode. I know I'm supposed to be gobsmacked by it so hoping the next one is better.
I think the mandalorian gets better after the first episode. I wasn’t blown away by the first one either

I was so tempted to enroll when I graduated undergrad, but I never did. I thought my chances were over. Maybe I will enroll in a new program and try it out!?!

Good to know! I felt bad that I was not that wow'ed by it since there was so much hype and chatter.
I wasn’t wowed by it either. I do like it a lot now after watching the next two episodes and that’s only because of “the baby”. If he wasn’t in the show I’m not sure how interested I would be

You wash that mouth out with soap young lady!! 🧼

That is the legacy, the history, the persistence of folks who have made our beloved parks what they are today!!! 😛
It’s interesting but I don’t like sitting and watching documentaries. I can’t sit and watch one whole episode without getting bored. It makes me feel like I’m in school lol. Now if it was about animals then I could sit and watch the whole thing

You only have to be enrolled in one class when you app and as far as I know, nothing is ever verified...People go down with families even (they just don't live in the CP housing) and I think a lot more 'mature' people are deciding to do it. It's a dream for so many and Disney doesn't have age restrictions in place.

I like to think I’m open minded... Apparently I am not. They don’t have roommates in this program do they? Because omg that would suck.

I totally got emotional when they were talking about Roy passing away after opening MK for Walt.

*I fully recognize this .gif has a grammatical error, but I am still sharing it. YOLO

They do have roommates, and I agree, that it would not be fun for a 20yo to get stuck rooming with a 40 or 50yo. I feel bad saying that but if these older people want to do the program and Disney allows it, fine, but they should not be in the CP housing. My dd said the lady is like trying to make everyone think she is so cool and fun on FB lol.
