So I posted earlier that my US Bank Business card was just raised to $9500 (actually it is $10,000). So I just went online to make a payment and it would not authorize. So, I called US Bank. Well the account as a whole has a $10,000 limit but not your individual card (it is all the same - there is only 1 card...). So, he made some changes and it is working now but boy does that seem dumb. Almost Citi like...

Odd question for a friends CIP app.... so he apped in early June thru my link, he said at time of app he got a 'we'll let you know' page... but he's not 100% sure he did (sigh) so over the past two months I *think* he called the status line twice. (it's hard to get lots of info from him) he said the auto line told him 'we'll notify you in writing in like 7 or 30 days or something'. Today he called me,told me he finally got curious about what happened to the app (after two months!) b/c he never got a letter in the mail,or an email,or a cc approval. The rep on the line told him since it's been over 30 days since the app they have no info on record to provide as to what happened.... how can this be? should HUCA for a clearer answer,or just app again since it's been so long? (He does admit that he may have hit the submit button twice while app'ing too) I'm just curious as to how there's no info on this at all? I told him if he decides to try again to screenshot each step as he goes....

The rep is correct the application goes away after 30 days....your friend would have to submit a new application through your link

Well we just drove to 4 different stores to find an AC window unit. Finally found some at Home Depot. We tried Lowe’s, Walmart, and Target before that. Dh is having trouble getting the thing he bought to connect to the whole house AC because it’s on the outside of the house and the blower fan is on the inside of the garage. Not sure why they wouldn’t be together but he can’t hook it up to both. He’s gonna try some things tomorrow but if all else fails we have a window unit

I may be wrong but I think that's the way it is for most central ac. The blower part is located at the top of our furnace inside the house because that's where your duct work comes from.

Our Hawaii flights are now officially booked! I can't believe I was able to get 4 of us first class tickets roundtrip from Boston to Hawaii on points. We are flying Delta from Boston to Maui and then United from Honolulu back to Boston. Paying cash the fights would have been about $11,000. This wouldn't have been possible without this board, so thank you to everyone who posts here.

Now I need some new cards!!

Wow, awesome!! Trying to figure out flights to Hawaii in 2021 gives me anxiety. I'll most likely being leaving out of BOS too. I'd like to break the trip up with stops in CA (and visting DL) since DD will still be 5, turning 6. It just takes so many extra days that way.

What is the easiest bank bonus to start with? And I would like to have DD do some. Is there a problem with having us both at the same address and both doing? She would only be able to do ones where you can fake the DD if necessary. She has a PNC account, so that is a no go for her. And we both need one where you don't need a high balance. The Chase savings is out for both of us.

The Chase checking I did fairly recently was $300 bonus for any DD, account needs to be open for 6 months. To keep the account fee free you need DD of $500. I am using TMobile Money account and just keep transferring $500 in and out once a month to keep it fee free. Opened 4/24 and received the bonus 5/8. DOC has other DPs of what will work as a DD.

I know, I did have a Festival of the Arts trip planned for last year, but then I had to cancel. I got lucky with Donald last summer. I didn't think I was going to be able to head down, but I had to go to Florida for work. ORLANDO no less! I ran over to WDW my first day and hit DHS, Epcot, and MK and got my family our magnets LOL

I'm so mad at myself, I was at Flower and Garden in May and forgot to get my magnet!! ugh. I won't pay for it though, lol.

I haven't, but we always stay off site so can only make FP at 30 days out. Yes, the big ones are all gone by that time, so we either wait for our next trip or ride at the end of the night. If it were me I'd rather go sooner and have it be busier than wait until next spring. I think as long as you manage your expectations you could still have a great trip.

I spent the morning putting up our hurricane shades (they protect our covered patio) and knew when it was past 10:30am that we wouldn't make the 1:20pm fight. So I cancelled the flights and we are staying. Hope I don't regret this decision. I did the few hurricane shutters we have this morning, so all that is left is the hurricane locks on the garage (which I won't do until Monday) and the front door.

@Haley R stay safe and keep us posted. I want to go to Barnes and Noble and get some books and a new board game for dd and I.

DH said he needs a ladder for some of our shutters so is waiting until the neighbors get home since they have one we can borrow. He’s still trying to figure out the transfer switch he bought and if he can’t we'll be using the window AC.

We have friends who flew in yesterday and they are in MK today. Said they are already prepping the park for Dorian. My cousin and his wife are there too (I forgot they were going) and they are supposed to fly home on Tuesday. Seems highly unlikely.

AA miles take 18 months to expire if you have no other activity. If you keep earning bonuses, that will keep them active. You can also shop through the AA portal instead of getting cash back through Ebates or RMN. You will earn a sad amount of miles, but that qualifies as activity to extend the expiration.

So, if I am sure I can use them in 18 months, would I still be OK to close the card? The miles aren't contingent on the card staying open?

Ugh, I think I'm operating on pure emotion right now and it's probably not the smartest decision. If we move our trip it will cost us around $2500 more, which is dumb. Dumb. Plus, we quite honestly don't need to spend that kind of cash right now. Yes, I have about 400K URs I could cash out to pay for it, but we were hoping to save those for our anniversary trip next year. I think we should either chance it or just cut our losses and save up for the next trip, even if it's a year out. Maybe I can finally rack up some AA miles to use by then... sigh.

Yeah, after what happened with Irma, I think my Labor Day trips are over. I'm going in October for the first time. I know it is going to be so much busier but I haven't had much luck in September unfortunately.

Assuming DH hasn’t had the personal/vanilla Platinum yet, have you thought about supporting him from your Biz Plat link? The Biz Plat has a 20k MR support bonus that would go to your account. If you open the support link in incognito mode, you can click around to the vanilla Plat for DH to apply, and it might pull up the 75k MR incognito offer (some people report seeing a 70k MR offer; the 60k MR offer is the same as the public offer but you’d get the 20k MR support bonus in addition) (and try different browsers, and/or servers if you have a VPN if the higher offers don’t come up). I've been changing the 'my store' to the store I'm shopping in.
But, yesterday I got a $100 Happy Guy and forgot to change stores. My 800 points/8 rewards credited in about an hour or so. The app always gives the warning that some stores may not have the same offers but it appears to me that if they have the offer you will get the credit.
Only 12 pages behind right now....

Wait, I have go in change my store? I was planning to go to one that is closer to HH with my friends rather than out of my way to one I typically go to.

I just liquidated one of previous MCGC at DG and a VGC at Walmart. I already asked Serve to transfer the funds. I plan to liquidated another $200 VGC on my way to HH.

Yes - you can close it if you want. Don't forget the free checked bags benefit if you are gonna use the miles for flying.
