HAHA I thought the same thing, but with MDE in general. Everything is so buggy, why link it to another interface?!

So, after reading about the Genie, I'm pretty sure that is there to try to replace many guests using a TA (Disney hates paying out commission). And while I admit many TA's are incompetent and are not prepared to do anything more than book your room, having a TA who knows how to plan your trip is priceless and this Genie app will never, ever be able to compete.

Wow, I guess I shouldn't be shocked to hear that. I have only really dealt with one company and only ask for room discounts because I am a control freak, but I can't imagine an app completely replacing the help of an actual person for others. Kinda funny to say considering how we all love using chat and avoiding actual calls to certain places, but that connection and human interaction is valuable when planning these trips. I doubt there is sophisticated machine learning behind the genie.

Just met the MSR on my Citi AA #1 by paying tuition for my LAST CLASS! Woo hoo!

I have about 2 more months to meet the MSR on CIP #2 so I need to figure out the timing to try to refer my husband. We are by no means certain he will get approved but I guess we are going to find out fairly soon.

I'm considering PCing DH's CF back to CSR and looking for advice about the timing or if it would even be a good idea. He was approved 5/2017. We used the travel credit in 6/2017 and 6/2018 and PC’d in July 2018 to get AF refunded. With our HI trip coming in Dec, I was hoping for a 2nd PP so we could have breakfast in Denver on our way, we would get him TSA precheck and maybe try to double dip the travel credit again. My timeshare maintenance fees come due in November and that might be a good use of the travel credit. I’m wondering if we wait until early November, if we would have our TSA precheck by early Dec.

This. So are you saying it's okay to cancel and reapply for a card that you've had for say 7 years?

I’ve been using Serve at WM with VGC. The DG’s in my town don’t take debit cards for Serve, it has to be cash. But I have two MCGC’s from the OM deal so thought I’d try one at a FD that I saw coming home from DD’s volleyball game yesterday. It was in a little town, and the guy behind the register was maybe in his 60’s. I asked if they could load Serve cards from American Express there in his store. He said he didn’t know, let’s try it. He wasn’t sure how to do it, so I said, sometimes there’s a code to scan that you might have behind the counter there. Maybe on a yellow card? (That just came to mind from a post from @speedyfishy last week. I would have had no idea otherwise.) And he found it and it worked. I was kind of surprised it worked actually, I’m used to stuff with Serve not working. Still trying to get a routine going with this.

This was me on my 2nd time doing this. Except it was an old lady who seemed upset I disrupted her from stocking shelves. She wasn't sure how to do it either and asked me is it this...?...I said yes you have to scan that yellow card first...Lol...Thanks @speedyfishy and everyone else for all those details.

This is probably part of it...but also was thinking to coerce unknowing travelers into planning the less popular things. Another layer to control traffic and guest behavior. That was my other thought once I got past the obvious IT issues.

How long did the whole process take? I am curious how I should stagger the appointments.

We ended up not getting the personality chip because we didn’t like how any of them sounded. The sounds our R-unit makes on his own are cute anyway lol. I’m sad the backpack was sold out when we were there otherwise I would’ve bought one. The whole process probably took us about 20 minutes. We had no wait to get started but did have to wait for them to activate our droid

Amex, no. Basically everything else, yes.

I see OM/OD is doing the $300 VGCs and get $15 off this week. I have a conveniently located OD so I'll probably pick some up. Feels sacrilege, but I'll do it on my CIP since I'm woefully behind on MSR for it.

Also, after spending all that time chatting with hotels.com the other day to try to get my free night redemption stay moved back a week, I called this morning and the rep was like "oh just cancel the stay and the free night will show back up in your account within 5 minutes and you can rebook." Sure enough...

The box was so bulky and awkward. I could never hear if he was making sounds or moving. I ended up holding him up by my head most of the morning which was annoying

You guys would think I have a problem if I took a picture of my Walt Disney Resort pens! I know they aren't fancy, but those are my favorite pens. I pretty much take them from every hotel we stay in and have been know to inadvertently take one from a restaurant. My girls think I am crazy! It is just a nice daily reminder of all the fun and memories we have had over the years.

i've been away for the better part of August so I just saw this on news but I am a confessed pen collector also.... I love them even if they're just cheap plastic with printing on it... I have so many great cheapo pens from my travels

That was my thought, too. More control and more information for Disney. I don't really mind the things that are in place now that I feel are worth it (e.g., photos that are based on location tracking), but this one doesn't seem like it will be a benefit to those in the know.

I honestly had no idea it made sounds without the personality chip! HAHA Seems like I need to research this $100+ purchase a little bit more. I think I found the pics of all the options. I am leaning towards an R2 unit with a translucent head... for now!

WOW, why is this backpack so rare? Disney really needs to figure out its merchandise. DL's version has been open enough to determine supply and demand. Can you imagine all the lost profit on people wanting a $39.99 up-charge? Instead of gouging people left and right on everything else, just give them what they actually want . Fortunately we are all AP holders and will make multiple trips and can pick one up once it is in stock. That is not an option for the primary WDW guest!
