Yes, since no one knows how long the cup will overflowth. We have a CIC and do get lots of use with it. Especially with Gyft.com
Yes, 100%. I personally want a CIC for the 5x categories, but the CIP SUB with referral is too hard to pass up. The initial card opening will clear you 80,000 URs which equals $800 (or $1,000 redeemed on CSP/CIP for travel or $1,200 redeemed on CSR for travel). Even though it has a $95 AF, the SUB is still better than the CIC by at least $205. You would need to spend $4,100 in 5x bonus categories on the CIC to make up the difference in $205 savings. If you want to put that much on the CIC past the MSR period, you would be better off referring for CIP#2 and getting another 100,000 URs! I have decided to keep the CIC in the back of my mind until the CIPpy cup dries up. If I can't apply and get approved for it, I will PC one of my CIPs to a CIC just to get the 5x categories before I am able to apply for one :)

SUBs are beating category spend for me right now. I put a little bit of dining on my personal Plat to meet the MSR and do not regret it at all.
That makes a lot of sense. I was doing the math as well. I’ll have to see where the bonus is next month and then make my final decision. Thanks for the information!

I watched the series when it originally aired and for years in reruns. Then I watched AYITL when it aired.
Just in AYITL, Logan is engaged/plans to marry Odette to further his career yet still has an affair with Rory. That’s self centered to me.

I see it more as he's broken. He was able to stand up to mitchum and do his own thing and failed. Mitchum then wanted rory to help him guide logan because huntzburgers don't make their own decisions they have to do what's right for the family. He's fufillimg his obligation and doing what his dad did cause we all learned from emily why shira's weight fluctuates. Right? No but it's the family way.

And rory got broken by mitchum and his you're not good enough blah blah. She didn't react well either but a lot of people wouldn't when youve just been told by someone influential in your industry that what you've been working and dreaming towards for years isn't going to happen. After her freak out and because of paris's freakout she rebounds and gets back to herself as editor. Logan obviously never got/felt he had another chance to get out from under daddy's thumb. It's pathetic but I'm sure there are families like that.

As promised, here are some pictures and thoughts about the TWA hotel at JFK for @Lain and anyone else who is interested:

We cleared customs at JFK (wish we had gotten Global Entry instead of TSA pre-check btw) and found our way to the TWA Hotel around 7:30pm on Wednesday night. We had to walk in a street around a curve to get from the AirTrain exit to the hotel which a little unnerving with kids. No signage to lead us there but we were lucky to find a couple who had been there earlier in the day who was going the same way.

Check-in was very automated and basically there was a guy behind the desk that sort of walked us through how to check in using an iPad. I found it to be the least warm/ personal greeting I have ever had at a hotel.

We booked a Deluxe Double Queen which is their standard room for 4 guests. We had thought about booking a runway view but didn't plan to spend much time in the room during our one night stay so it was fine. (We did have a nice view of a bus stop lol).

There was a well-stocked mini-bar and plenty of snacks available for purchase... ($5 can of Coke to go with your $6 dollar mini tube of Pringles anyone?) The bathrobe was comfy but not sure why they didn't have more than one for a room that is meant for 2-4 guests. Check out the blue lights on the fridge because they will be important later...

The small bathroom looked neat but the shower was not enclosed with a curtain or a door so it made for a wet bathroom floor. It didn't help that the drain was super slow so the shower filled up like a tub while 4 of us showered as quickly as we could (right before checkout so we didn't have time to request someone to fix it).

We got dressed for the pool and planned to get some drinks and snacks at the pool bar while the kids swam. They were out of 3 of the 4 menu items that we were interested in so we got the fries (which were delicious) and the charcuterie board (which was really more of a cheese board). Total price for a few beers a few wines 2 fries and the charcuterie was just over $100 before tip.

They had a small cafe cart in the lobby but the only choice for breakfast with any gluten free options (for DW) was going into the Paris cafe (which is upscale dining in the evening). 2 omelettes, 1 stack of pancakes and a fruit plate with 2 milks for the kids ran us about $100 before tip. What made it worse was that we had ordered buttermilk pancakes for the kids to split but the server ordered GF pancakes (I guess confused after my wife talking about options for herself). When the food arrived and we let the server know about the error she apologized and said she would put in the order for buttermilk pancakes right away (it took about 1/2 hour for the buttermilk pancakes to arrive).

We had planned on swimming in the pool one more time and showering before checkout so I had asked and been granted a 12pm checkout instead of the standard 11am checkout (which was good since we spent so long at breakfast). When we got back from the pool our key did not work in the room so I had to go back down to the desk to get it reactivated which was kind of a pain since it takes some work to get back to the main lobby.

By the way, those are the "cons". I'll do another post for the "pros" and then wrap it up with some final thoughts.

Still hopelessly behind but popping in with a couple of pretty pictures from our trip for the Scotland fans. To keep this on topic, I will add that I am already planning on travel hacking our way back to see Puffins and their Pufflings. We may MS our way to another BA travel together ticket as well as get some CIP URs once we are under 5/24.

Barely...the "tooth fairy" had had a long day and some drinks at dinner, so she fell asleep early. Luckily, she woke up in the middle of the night and remembered she was the tooth fairy.
DS lost his tooth at the beach a couple weeks ago and we thought the tooth fairy might not make it because we had 5 kids 6 and under sleeping in the same room. DH pulled off some mad stealthy ninja moves to make it happen though!

The architecture is absolutely amazing:

The pool and the observation deck put you in such a unique environment and we had a lot of fun hanging out up there:

So here are my thoughts:
In spite of the negative slant to my earlier post, I highly recommend checking this place out if you are on a long layover or just happen to be in the city and are an aviation fan. Walk around, have a drink in the vintage airplane/ cocktail bar explore the common areas of the hotel and maybe grab a snack at the rooftop bar. The sunset over the NYC skyline was obviously cooler than I could capture on my phone. These are the best parts of the hotel in my opinion. Enjoy online pictures of the rooms and you aren't really missing out on anything. We found things to be overpriced for a hotel that doesn't have it all together yet (they are advertising on their site that they are still working on construction etc.).

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the blue light on the fridge. It was shining brightly in the room when we turned the lights out so I had to get out of bed to rig up a towel cover for it. The blackout shades worked ok at night but we were awoken by bright sunlight coming through the bottom. I just don't think they were very detail-oriented when designing these rooms (remember the plugged up shower?).

If you really want to stay here overnight, my advice would be to wait about a year and look at recent reviews before making your decision. I really wanted to love it and we may be back to visit when passing through JFK but not to stay.

I am doing a chase checking account for P2 for the bonus. I know DoC has a list of what counts for Direct deposit, but is there any way to know if it counted before a bonus is deposited, or is the only way to find out is when the bonus deposits? TIA

Used my uber credit on Five Guys. Got ds a cheeseburger and large fries (large enough for a village). DD doesn't like burgers and I do but try not to eat much red meat so I made her a trader joe's chicken burger and myself a trader joe's turkey burger. With tip I paid $8.

Thanks for the responses to my DL transport question. I'll talk everything over with DH to try to sort this out. I've been reading several posts on the subject. I'm not completely opposed to bringing a car seat if that's what we need to do to save some on the ride. I'm just super particular about the seat he rides in and most of the ones I see just dont seem safe enough to me. Yes, I'm THAT mom. 😂

None of the characters is perfect, all are pretty flawed. I generally liked Rory, but I guess I have an issue with the cheating. Maybe I’ve known enough people who’ve been cheated on IRL that it’s not acceptable to cheat. Leave the relationship if it’s that bad. No excuses in my book. Plus I don’t see Logan as broken, as much as spoiled rich kid. Right from the beginning I thought he was spoiled, which of course is the opposite of Jess, who is the angry poor boy.
I wouldn’t have known if @kidsfirsttrip hadn’t mentioned it. I did chat and my PP should be here in 10-14 days.
This card allows 10 PP visits/ 12 months. I have read a couple conflicting reports about if you are allowed to pay for guests. I was planning to call when card arrives.
I used 3 of my PP visits for DH, DS and myself in YVR last month.

Me too. I dragged a car seat to China for DS.

The bonus posts so quickly I don't think anyone had really analyzed it. You know within a week or two if it worked, so if it doesn't post, just try another option.
The bonus posts the Tuesday following requirement met. If you get the DD in by Friday, that next Tuesday afternoon you should see the bonus.

Hi! Couple of easy questions this morning :-). First, DH applied and was approved for the SW card with the 60,000 bonus points. We made a couple of hefty charges for a home project which met our spend for the bonus. Unfortunately, since it won't stop raining in Wisconsin, we have to cancel the project which means returning the supplies. It is not my intention to get away with anything and quite honestly, I prefer to stay in good graces with SW. Will they take the bonus points away? We don't use the card for anything else, but would it be better for me to use it to "re-meet" the spend?

My second question is in regards to the Chase Freedom Unlimited. I see it's offering 3% cashback on all purchases for the first year. What do you guys/gals think about this and what would my limitations be in terms of prior Chase offerings and bonuses? As always, thanks for the help.

Giving this a bump. Someone commented on the SW spend question (thank you), but still seeking some advice on the Chase Freedom Unlimited. I know things move fast, hence the bump.

You can use your visits allotment on guests. You could take yourself + 9 guests in one visit if you wanted (of course, assuming the lounge doesn't have a restriction) Anything after the 10 visits gets charged to your card at the per visit rate, I forget what it is now offhand, I know they changed it last year some time, could be $28 or $32, I have both numbers in my head for some reason.

Also just remember that starting Aug 1, PP provided by AmEx won't include the restaurant options :(

:wave2: Same! I am the mom who drags the car seat everywhere and makes crazy plans to make it work.

I'm quite behind, as usual, but popping in to report about Citi AA biz cards/bonus.

5/2014 - 1st Biz AA in my name, biz EIN (have always kept open because retention offers have always been decent)
4/9/19 - 2nd Biz AA in my name, biz EIN (still open, obviously)
5/4/19 - 1st Biz AA in DH name, biz EIN

EIN was the same for all 3 as we only have one EIN for our business that we both operate. All have received SUB, all were applied through public links. We may have already confirmed this, but it appears the timeframe definitely goes by name, NOT EIN. I believe when I asked that question before we were unsure.
