My daughter double majored in biology and health science :confused3she got a job in the regulatory department of a medical device company.....getting FDA approvals....she travels sometimes opening/closing testing sites...

There are definitely jobs for it, just none that interested me. Wish I figured that out before I got it. :D I have friends that I graduated with that work in research, teaching, college professor, etc.
 
AA miles for Disney 2020 update...

I called AAVacations today and was told they have no idea when they might get availability for Disney resorts for 2020. She clearly told me that they used to have a direct contract with Disney and that they no longer do that (we knew this already from when the whole crappy change happened). She said this is all at the mercy of their 3rd party processor who has the contract with Disney.

I honestly have a small worry that we might not see rooms appear. Luckily my backup plan is Disney Gift Cards which will still work but get me far less value out of my AA miles. Stay posted on this one folks... I also tweeted American to respectfully voice my displeasure with this change:


I was starting to lose hope that Disney resorts would show up at all for 2020. I have checked daily. I just checked again tonight and Caribbean beach is showing for my weekend in January At aavactions. (Not usemiles though)
It is encouraging to me to see at least one Disney resort listed. It’s not my top choice but if I can pay nothing out of pocket using AA miles vs booking a different resort and paying for it I’ll pick Caribbean beach.
I’m going to give it a little more time before deciding. We have a backup deposit at Pop for now.
 
You should read through the information on the dischurners Disney World tips - You won't need to spend the whole day on your phone, just a minute or two (at the RIGHT minute!) to get certain FPs.
What I do is set an alarm for about 2 mins prior to the release and get it pulled up. Then refresh refresh u til they pop up and I can grab one. Whole process under 3 mins. It is a great little “secret.”
 

It's not that easy because what you eat matters. It's not unusual for people to train for a half marathon or marathon and gain weight because they think with all the extra miles they can eat more.

It's based off calories but also carbs, fat and protein. I know how many calories I can eat but I also know what % of the three I should have. I have a hard time, like many do, of getting enough protein. I'm not a fruit or veggie person for the most part but even my daily apple adds to my carbs. For me as I'm trying to lose the body fat more than the lbs because I probably only have around 10 to lose and should be gaining muscle while I'm doing this I'm not as concerned about that number. My bf% was 38 at it's highest when checking at the gym while checking it over the span of 2 months. All I did was cut out the extra sugar I was eating thinking that would help, at 40 it wasn't enough. I've gotten it down to 32 but a few days of too many carbs due to where I was and it was back to 35.

I've cut out hot chocolate and coke, not that I was having either everyday but they were adding too much so they need to be treats. I've drastically reduced the amount of peanut butter and cheese I eat :( If I want one of them I plan things around it. I measure my cheerios now, a serving is a cup but that's too much so I actually eat a half a cup instead of probably half that I was getting before. I have a salad (iceburg, ham, 1 egg, cheddar, cucumber, fat free ranch) for lunch and a kroger light greek yogurt for a snack. This all has me at a great ratio and then dinner happens :) But I am good more often than not and am more aware of what I'm eating. Snacking on beef jerky instead of something else stuff like that. The hard part is that carbs are everywhere and some are better than others, like the apple is better than pizza. If I liked more veggies and beans this would all be so much easier but that salad, corn and potatoes are about it. And it's not from lack of trying them. It comes down to taste, texture or both.
An idea for you since you’re watching sugar...dukes shorty sticks have low or no sugar! We tried modified Atkins for my kid with seizures. I learned a lot about carbs and ratios. But we stopped.
 
Wow I’ll have to try. The problem for us is we live an hour away so it would have to be an evening time but I’ll keep it in mind for future trips. I took a screen shot of it

I didn’t know until maybe 8 weeks ago and I feel like I spend an embarrassing amount of time reading/watching wdw stuff. It is great though!
 
This made me giggle, mainly because on our SW flight home Sunday the flight attendant came by 4 or 5 times offering us more Fritos, cookies, or pretzels. I don't know that I've ever seen them bring the snacks multiple times! Sometimes they let you have more than one item (one time they were just giving everyone everything whether you wanted it or not lol)

I’ve only had this happen when I flew Southwest BWI-LAX it was awesome but Delta give you a meal for that flight.
 
We finally saw TS4 tonight. I thought the movie was really funny....loved Forky and his constant thinking he was trash at the beginning...but I (my whole fam) was blindsided by the ending and we were all left feeling very depressed and like this was totally out-of-character. Won't say more so I don't spoil for others. Of all the TS movies, this one leaves me feeling the most like I got no closure :( I also thought I'd cry a ton. I really didn't. Too shocked, I guess.
Dh noticed that about forky and trash. Our kids are adopted and we didn’t really like the (probably unintentional) message it sent. We can tell they have low self-esteem.

I snack on beef jerky, it's great after a long run. Oberto is local to my hometown/where I live, so it's generally what I buy because it's good and I can get it at Target on sale often.
 
I read somewhere that being continually exposed to chicken pox after you had them (in the days when everyone got them as a child) acted like a booster to immunity helping to reduce the chances of shingles. I don't know how true that is, but it makes some sense in the light of less chicken pox/more shingles happening.
Yes, this is because over time your immune system 'forgets' how to make the antibodies against certain things. Basically why they give booster shots on some things. Also 'earning' your immunity via getting a real infection usually lasts longer than what you get from vaccines. All pros and cons :)

Kitchen things. Was thinking to order a steak knife set or second bowl for our Kitchenaid but slipped my mind with BIL. Will probably watch for a bit to see if any deals come up, or maybe even something that could be a Christmas gift...
I usually donate to Stand Up for Cancer and earn miles but I think I’ll do this for my dad this year

Thanks everyone for the tips about the gym. The one for $98/month is called 9round. It’s mostly kickboxing and there are 9 stations you rotate through with a trainer helping along the way. The other one for $139/month is called empower and it’s a gym for women that’s mostly all classes you sign up for. It wouldn’t necessarily be a trainer situation but the classes looked small when I was in today.
 
OMG, no way! We had no idea the builder was putting that feature in. I have a friend who put a urinal in her house though to try and keep the boy mess to a minimum :)
I want to install a urinal in my house so bad! I've said for years if I ever built I would have one put in.
 
She has put the nursing program on hold for the time being b/c she's discovered she loves biology and may major in that instead. But if she pursues nursing, yes, she will have to get revaccinated. Her immune system is always struggling to keep up since she has a chronic illness. So, I'm not really surprised she doesn't have immunity even after being vaxed. They drew titers for MMR, Hep B, Varicella and something else (can't remember). She only showed immunity for MMR.

My DD just graduated with a Biology/BioChem degree and landed a pretty cool research opportunity overseas for next year. However she is planning to apply for some combination of med/grad school after that year is over. People said chem would open more doors, but she really loves Biology and wanted to do her senior research and thesis on a particular bio topic so she went for that degree. And so far it's working out for her so I hope was a good decision. I wish your DD well. I do think it's tough to work in the medical field if you don't have a strong immune system so it's good that she can go in a different direction if she decides nursing isn't for her. :)
 
ETA: actually maybe I won’t. There are a few pop-up denials today, maybe I’ll just wait until we get a flood of “omg the pop-up went away” DPs and try again then. My theory is Amex uses the pop-up denial to manage their bonus expenses (meaning it’s more about Amex than it is an individual’s actual history) so maybe I should put my money where my thoughts are...

That’s an interesting theory I hadn’t considered before. 🤔 Diabolical if true!
