So, just wanted to post this DP for anyone like us who has to add dc to your AA bookings (and get your MDX number and add a room request...). I've finally gotten it all accomplished but I had a heck of a time. To recap: We have two rooms booked for 4 nights at POR and 5 nights at Swan, all using AA miles. None of the numbers sent to us on the AA confirmation worked in the MDX system.
I called Disney, since @speedyfishy had good luck getting the CM to look her reservation up by their name. No such luck in our case. The CM was adamant that she 'couldn't touch' the reservation since it went through a third party booking agent. She couldn't give me the MDX number. So, I called AA Vacations. The agent was friendly but didn't understand why the numbers I had weren't sufficient. I explained again how the Disney system works and how you need a special number to have your reservation show up in their system. She said she needed to talk to a supervisor and put me on hold. Comes back a few mins later and says, "please explain again why you need this number...". Explained again and she asked me to hold again. I think she basically had to go convince the supervisor that I legitimately needed this. She came back and told me she was going to call 'the hotel I booked with' and it could be awhile and to please hold. About 10 mins later she came back with the MDX numbers for POR. Yay!!! But now I still needed to add a child to each room. AA wanted to charge me additional money/miles to do so even after explaining that Disney doesn't charge for kids. So, I hung up and called Disney back. Thinking now that I have the MDX number, I'll be good...Unfortunately, I get the CM who woke up on the unmagical side of the bed, she proceeds to tell me that she cannot add anyone to the room since it's a third party booking and I need to call AA back and have them do it. I explain they want to charge me. She says, "then you will need to cancel your reservation with them and rebook with Disney" in a very snarky way
While I know she probably cannot add anyone, just the way she said it was so rude. So, I went and found my old notebook from two years ago when we booked Disney rooms with UR's (sigh, good times...) and found the Disney Wholesale number. I called and spoke to Leroy. Awesome Leroy! He took care of everything for me...added the kids, made sure my connecting room request was in the system...and told me if I needed anything else, to call them back.
I wish I had remembered just to call Disney wholesale from the get-go. We should consider putting their number on DISchurners somewhere. Leroy asked me how I got the number. I told him I had it from a couple years ago when I booked through cc points and had trouble getting our MDX number then. He said consumers aren't really supposed to be using it, and I apologized, and he immediately said it was fine that I did and reiterated that I could call if I needed help again.
Getting everything from Swan was the easiest thing ever...one call to a super friendly gal gave me my MDX numbers, added the kids, room request confirmed and even added our Bonblah numbers since we are eligible for a maybe upgrade.
