Yes, I've now done one checking for DH and one for myself. On opening the account online you have the option of funding with a credit card, up to $5000. Both coded as a purchase on CIP. You do have to speak with someone on the phone to set up the account after getting approved.

Southwest has extended their MAX8 reschedule through Oct 1 now. My Sep flight is still showing but I see at least one that day has been removed - the one I was looking to switch to Like before, even if you aren't directly affected they are giving a one time change for free for any flight within 14 days of original flight per their accommodation policy.

I did take advantage and changed to an earlier flight that day. Not the one I was looking at which would have given us Timberline for a lounge lunch, instead we'll be in St Louis which at least has a lounge restaurant option but I recall it did not receive the same rave reviews. It's a quick layover so hopefully we get enough time to get something free at least. After paying 2 AFs on this CSR I'm happy to take anything at this point!

SW is cancelling flights that are not scheduled on a MAX 8 and moving those planes to routes that are so even if your flight is not on a MAX 8 it could still be cancelled.

To see what type of plane your flight is scheduled on...go to book it and then click on the flight number shown in blue

Can someone remind me how to get points back from SW when the number needed drops? My return flight dropped and there are actually six tickets at that lower price! All 6 are booked together under my account. Do I need to call?

ETA: Disregard! I figured out how to do it online but it wouldn’t let me even though there were definitely 6 seats available at the new rate so I just called. They got me changed and I got 4300 SW miles back! She also confirmed that I am not on one of the MAX 8 planes. I really hope nothing crazy like my flight getting cancelled happens. I don’t even know what I would do and I don’t exactly have enough miles in anything to just rebook us to something else.

Decided to check out the magic bands on MDE. I had a choice of 2 mickey's, 1 Donald Duck, 3 Toy Story, 1 Star Wars, and an orange and blue one I have no idea what it is, plus the usual 8 solid color ones.

None of them made me want to give up $10.

Because of the way I booked my next two trips, I have multiple reservation numbers. And, I've only got me added as a guest. I can add my guests at any time, including at check in or later. No meal plans to worry about. Later on DVC will combine any days I need combined, but I'm resort hopping in November - first BCV, then BWV, then to the beach and back to BWV, so I can get multiple bands if wanted - not wanted! In February, I still have 1 day in the middle that's out of whack - garden view instead of standard at BWV. Hopefully that will resolve itself, but moving within the resort is pretty easy.

Amex doesn't know about VGCs at the grocery store IME. If you're looking at meeting Amex MSRs then I wouldn't go to Staples or OD/OM for VGCs. I know those are the stores that most frequently have fee-free gift cards so that's attractive. But I think a 1.19% fee for $500 of MSR is likely outweighed by whatever the SUB is, so I'm good with paying the fee at grocery stores.

Do you have a Safeway reward/loyalty account? There is a (IDK if it's targeted?) $10 coupon for a $100+ prepaid gift card available for that program that you can activate on your account, it expires on 6/29. I bought a $500 vgc at Safeway yesterday for $495.95.

I'm actually not familiar with Dollar General, I don't have one nearby. I would read Flyertalk or r/churning to see the ins and outs of doing that, or if other MSers on our thread use DG, maybe they can chime in.

At WM does it have to be Meta vgc or do the vanillas work?

I remember someone had trouble doing it but I couldn't remember who it was. I'm soooo sorry you had to go through that! We have 2 Safeways near us and I consider myself lucky that no one has ever batted an eye!
@disneybirds It's worth a shot. Maybe try a small amount so you're not stuck with a huge amount of Safeway GCs. I shop there anyway so I'm not too worried if one day they say no.

Thanks for the advice! We are traveling near one so I hesitate to buy too many Safeway GCs. Last year, I bought a $100 GC and had shipped before we left. Once it worked, I just did eGCs. The eGCs were definitely harder to use than the physical ones. There are lots of Safeways in Portland, so at least I have choices if one store doesn't work (as long as it isn't hardcoded in system).

This is me. The DG and FD are all 30 mins away and not in great areas. My parents have a DG probably a mile from their house since they are in a more remote area. If this would work at a CVS I would be in business. There are lots close to us.

Crap, I didn't even think when I made flights for a hockey tourney to look at the aircraft. I have my DH and DS9 on a max8 to MDW both ways. Ugghhh. Prices have doubled since I booked. Think I should just wait it out and hope they still aren't in the air by then or change it now? Flights are 10/31 and 11/4. I have no plans for any of us to fly a max8 anytime soon, if ever. Crap, crap, crap. I think I may wait it out with the assumption they will have to change the aircraft and if they don't we will just drive and that way I can go too with the other kids.

Great Southern Bank taking care of another CIP MSR. Applied 6/16, approved 6/17, received card 6/24, opened checking account 6/25 with $5000 charge, $85,000 URs pending on 6/27. And from reading comments on DoC it looks like you can open another account, like money market and savings and fund another $5000. Easiest MS ever! I know it's not illegal, but sometimes it feels like it should be when it's so easy!

GSB still shows up as normal charge on the CIP? Just got mine today ;-)

I would just wait it out....SW is definitely changing aircraft....

one thing I keep doing is checking my flight numbers earlier in the the schedule ......for example we are traveling 9/18 and 9/25...I look at those flights in August and early September to see if they are still on the schedule or cancelled

I tried Walmart for the first time tonight. I waited 15 mins in the regular checkout so that she could tell me that that max I could load at the register was $100, anything over had to be done at the customer service desk. That line was easily 20 minutes so I just left. Stopped at both Family Dollar and Dollar General and got my $2k loaded. Those two stores are about 2 miles from each other so it was pretty quick.

You must be hitting the Coventry / WW GF and FD's lol. My faves.
