That is a nice low fee for such a big payment. Just to be extra safe, I'd lower your cash advance limit with your Arrival+ card first before making the payment.

Good idea - I think I'll do that and try it. I hadn't thought about it posting as a cash advance.

Ah, I was thinking that if you had 2 Biz Plats concurrently, you could use the two cards' $100 Dell credit on the same transaction since Dell allows you to put a purchase on up to 3 different cards.

No, and sadly I left a Dell credit "on the table" when I cancelled, because I didn't do enough research to figure out that there were worthwhile things to get with the credit.

I'm guessing you can't get a Dell gift card -- that would be too easy -- and then combine them on a later purchase.

I didn't look at this thread before getting the card :(

But to answer the questions on the first page:
10/18 - Chase Freedom Unlimited
06/19 - Disney Premier Visa

I put about $1,000 on my cards give or take every month. It's usually just every day spending. groceries, lunch at work, Disney gift card purchases when it's advantageous enough.
They get paid off in full every month, though I did float a balance on my Freedom card briefly during 0% interest promotion period because of emergent expenses. But I got that taken care of really quickly
We fly out of the NYC airports
Jetblue flyers all the way!
Southwest I think only services one of the airports and I don't like going out there.
We're apart of both Marriott and Hilton rewards programs though we prefer Marriott
I have about 17589 in Chase rewards, we just used a bunch to purchase flights. 8500 in Hilton points and about 2200 in Jet Blue points.
I don't think I'm in any other travel program but if I think of one I'll put it here.
Goals are cash back or points to use towards travel. We try to do a different state every year and at least one trip to Disney. We're also saving for a downpayment on a home right now so cash back would really help with that.
And our travel party is usually just myself and my SO or a friend. Sometimes there's four of us myself, SO, and two best friends (though they're about to become a party of 3!)
It's too bad about the Disney card, but what's done is done. I'm sure others will chime in with a recommended plan. Usually, the suggestion is to begin with a Chase Ink Preferred (CIP), if you happen to do something that qualifies as a business, because it has an awesome bonus. The best thing you can do is read as much as possible here and ask questions.

Are you open to any business cards? Is $3000 the max you could do in 3 months? Because some of the cards will require $5000. If you can't do that, no problem, will just know not to suggest those. Also, when would you be buying a house because you probably wouldn't want to get a lot of cards close to the time of qualifying for a mortgage.

:(

No, Dell GCs are processed through Cashstar and don't trigger the credit. Xbox Live GCs trigger the credit, then you can redeem them into a Microsoft account and use them at any time on the Microsoft Store, but the Microsoft Store has a more limited selection than the Dell store.

Here's DoC's article on how to maximize the Dell credit:

I am not seeing how to use a link to sign up for Dosh. Anyone? Hitting links takes me to a generic page. I downloaded the app and it says to enter a code for R word. Am I missing the number on the links?

Dh received a Citizens Bank mailer today ($400 or $200, depending on the account type, plus $100 for 5 debit transactions) but I cannot find any info in the fine print about how long the account would need to be kept open :coffee: It just says "have a qualifying direct deposit post to the new account within 60 days of the account open date" and one cannot have had an account within the past 6 months.

Who has done a Citizens Bank bonus?
I have. Just needed to be opened until bonus posted. Opened account 7/3/18, bonus posted 9/26/18, and closed account with no issues.

I'm behind so not sure if @wendow answered you but from my recent experience, what they will do is apply it to principal and then you can call to have them apply it correctly after the due date. Do not put "do not apply to principal". Since you won't have a payment due at the time, the only thing they can do with it is apply it to principal. If you say not to, they will have nowhere to put it and send it back.
Thanks. I put in the memo July 2019 and August 2019 payment. I have the Aug payment set for 6/30 since the latest I could do for the promo. We’ll see how it goes.

Duuuuude! I hope you like that 0.7 cpp redemption! :rotfl2:

Kidding aside, can’t you chat with an Amazon rep to change the method of payment and refund your points?

i dont think so. I think the best i can do is return it, maybe get points back?
id probably just take this as a lesson learned, set me back half a month worth of points earned.
thanks for the idea though.

like what @disneymagicgirl would say, "WORST DAY REDEMPTION EVER"

Hmmm....so it doesn’t look like my property tax posts until 7/1/19 but the taxes have been the same amount for the last 2 years. Do I just use that amount to take advantage the Plastiq promo?

I don't think I qualify for a business card unless there's something I'm missing that makes me eligible. I've done $5k in 3 months before but it's usually around the holidays or vacation and I try not to run it up too high. Our ideal goal is the next 3 years for the house we only started saving for the down payment in January, and because property in NYC is so expensive it's probably going to take us a while.

I use YNAB and have pretty much the same setup as you. I love it and it saves me so much time over my previous spreadsheet. I still keep a sheet to track credit cards (new, existing, closed), credit limits, and MSR/SUB but that doesn’t need constant updating.
Does anyone have a Capital One auto loan (or I guess other loan as well)? I was thinking about paying off our car loan since it's down to a little over $4,000 and was looking into using plastiq to complete most of the spending on one of our new Arrival+ cards.

I usually pay through auto pay that just comes straight out of our checking. I logged into the website and there is a fee for paying, but it looks like it's a flat rate of $3.45 no matter how much is paid. Just wondering if there is a reason that my Arrival+ card would be a problem?

My only question is by card does it mean debit card or credit card... DHs account has a card option but it is debit only.

Otherwise I have now put thousands of dollars in payments on our car loans through Plastiq with no issues :D

I don't think it's that bad. Mainly because it paid for our room this September and I know it will get used when we go down in September and December this year. The points might not be amazing but in my brain its going to help pay for the souvenirs I have to bring back for people like my family and friends. So while it might not be the best I'm not that worried about it.

I am but it's the wrong time of year. If it was just DH and I the birthday coupon would put us ahead, but since we'll have 5 people TIW will save more. Technically you aren't supposed to be able to use them together.

I am OCD... we use YNAB. So I have a travel category and under it I have sub categories.
Travel fund, which is a generic one where all travel cash goes ie bank bonuses, swagbucks, extra cash, etc, plus I budget an amount towards it each month.
Any trip that is actively being planned/anything paid for (even the $5.60 SW fees) gets its own line so I can track the cash cost.
Annual Fees category for, well, annual fees :D
Disney GC category for my stash
Also Hotels.com GC category because I stash those on and off.

All of these categories are treated the same as I assign things in the budget to them as they come, like AFs or if I get a Disney GC deal, or pay something for a trip. If there are any refunds or credits or something (like an AMEX offer or A+ eraser), that goes against its category too. Then at the end of the month if any of the categories are negative, I cover the balance with the generic travel fund.

Yup it's super crazy OCD :rotfl: But YNAB makes it fairly easy overall and I can go back and see what cash OOP I spent on a trip and how much I've spent on AFs for the year. Oh and also anything I pay extra for, like if I pay through plastiq and pay a fee, or if I buy a Visa or MCGC at the store to use somewhere because I'm earning extra URs, gets charged against the generic travel fund. So those fees aren't split out necessarily but I can easily scroll through that category in YNAB and pick

I also use YNAB, and set it up in a very similar way. So stress free, and so easy to plan for everything.
