I decided to go for it and apply for the Chase SW Premier today. I thought about waiting and using the self referral since my SW Biz was less than 30 days ago. But, with lots of helpful advice found here and research on my part - I figured I would try. I was instantly approved with a huge credit line - way more than I need. I am excited to get the CP because we are hoping to go to California and or Hawaii next year - plus a couple of Orlando trips as well. My new Biz also has a large CL. So, I will call to reduce those well in advance to applying for a CIP - but I am going to wait at least 3 months before I try for that. My husband is going to apply for the CIP next week - so I should be able to use one of his referrals after that and get our CIP party going!

Good traveling news. Just rebooked my rental car for like the 10th time. I started at $1300 for 2 weeks . Now it is less than 1/2 of that at $600 and it is a larger car. I have another month. Hoping it goes down even more

I’ve been doing the same with our 2 week rental from SFO. My savings isn’t nearly as good as yours but it’s down $100 or so. And it’s drastically down from the crazy high prices I saw a few weeks after I originally booked. Your post reminds me I need to check again to see if there’s a savings.

I did run into this for Coronado Springs yesterday, for one night, 6/29...

Just doublechecked, useaamiles is 26300 and aavacations is 27200. I figured that had something to do with it being only a one night stay...

Yeah - it's definitely the one night thing that is causing that. The cost of the rental car for just 1 day increases your miles cost vs. being spread over numerous days or a week on a longer trip (where the rental car cost per day comes down).

I totally booked that first room through useaamiles, oops. At least it's only 400 points! I'm still thinking the length must play into the discount.

Perhaps it's best to check both sites no matter what your situation lol. We also haven't talked a lot about AA for Universal since URs can be used for that and you can get the 1.5x kicker with CSR. It seems though that there are some crazy pricing on those resorts with AA as well.

Speaking of ridiculous arguments, somebody on the Restaurants board got upset because I disagreed with them about the new portion size at BOG.

It went like this:

Them: "IMO the new portion size is too small for one person"
Me: "IMO the new portion size is just right for one person"
Them: "EXCUSE ME I am very LARGE and just because it is right FOR YOU doesn't mean it is right for EVERYONE!!!"



I guess when they wrote "one person" it meant "me, as an individual," but when I did it, it meant "you're a pig." The magic of the English language!

As an aside, DF & I are in the lounge waiting for our flight and sitting near us are triplet toddler girls, in matching outfits but different colors, and their iPad cases match their outfits. They are so cute. I aspire to this level of parenting.

Just learned something else booking with AA miles. If you need two rooms, it would be slightly less to book them together on the aavacations site.

Examples: 2 rooms at Dolphin for one night, aavacations 35.8k vs useaamiles 36.2k; 2 rooms at Coronado Springs for one night, aavacations 50.2k vs useaamiles 52.6k;

Makes sense since you are only 'renting' one car

Ok - so it's worth noting that you could actually book 2 rooms with only 1 rental car on AAvacations.com and that cuts your cost of those two rooms from 237,200 points (or your roughly 118k x 2) down to 227,200. This doesn't help in your situation (I can't come up with a scenario where it actually costs you less OOP) but is something interesting for those following along...

Besides jealousy, I imagine it can also be just what is considered an appropriate response due to the "culture norms" of the community. Could you imagine anyone reacting here how we see other churners react on FT or the comments section of most popular travel hacking blogs? I think THIS community here would be horrified to see someone be anything other than helpful, non judgy and nice. Our community "culture norms" simply wouldn't tolerate that. I could see claws coming out here in response to someone being mean and judgy but never for being helpful.

Use air hint to track the flight. SW prices change often and I've never gotten a deal on the release day. That said, I don't ever fly peak days...such as Thaknsgiving wed to sun....so that prob helps.

Guys - I'm officially in the Plastiq game. Signed up (via a DISchurners link of course - & PMed that person) and made a $500 add'l principal payment on my mortgage.

A few additional notes:

• In addition to the "support" offer of $500 FFD after paying $500 in bills, I also was offered $50 FFD just for signing up
• So on my initial $500 payment, I got the 1% MC promo discount (it does show up as a "promo" by the way) and the $50 FFD so it only cost me $6.75 to make this $500 payment.
• Then once the support offer posts, I'll make another $500 pmt for $0 in fees! That will make a dent in my CitiBiz AA MSR

The rest of my plan then is:

• Have my wife signup using my link
• Repeat the same process above for her (hopefully paying $1,000 towards the mortgage for only $6.75)
• I'll also earn another $1,000 in FFD from her signup and we'll pay that too...
• This really seems too easy...$3,000 in MSR towards my mortgage for $13.50.....WOW!

Anyways - figured I'd share for anybody on the fence about using Plastiq! Of course, since paying a mortgage is kosher with MC it makes this so easy (until my mortgage is gone here pretty soon though)

Not sure why there is so much variation in cost over time. I was hesitating on finalizing my trip.
UseaAAmiles was 82,400 for 2 nights at RPR in Oct. Today it is 126K
AAVacations, it is 68,900. Definitely a better deal. And after seeing the increase on useaamiles, I decided I'd better book before it went up.

No one at my house gets as excited as me. I was just telling them, I got tickets, hotel and airfare for just $22.40. I'm doing a happy dance and they are just like.

to everyone on this board sharing information and help. This year, my travels are limited by amount of vacation time, not costs. And it is all thanks to the help I've found here.

@biochemgirl I would lower your cash advance to $100 which is the lowest chase will do. then you can try a payment of $1350 if it tries to do cash advance it will get denied.

Go to the Amex "Support" A Friend site.

Log in to the account with your Plat.

Select your Plat (or the card with the highest "support" bonus). The Plat should earn you a 15,000 MR support bonus.

Scroll down to copy the support link.

Log out.

Open an incognito window.

Paste the link (and get rid of all the extra language) and load.

Find the tab "Explore other options", click down, click "Looking for a Business Card?"

Scroll down until you find the Blue Business Plus Credit Card with the 10,000 MR support offer.

Click "Continue to Card Details." You'll be taken to the BBP's landing page.

Click "Apply Now".

You know the rest.

Can't remember if anyone came back with an update for this but they Promotion details are showing now. I was surprised when I got it because SW never picked me for any promotion before. So I registered for anything just in case it disappeared (I could have been giving up a kidney for all I knew, just excited to actually have one!)

Has anyone received theirs from earlier this year? Usual restriction that the sign up bonus isn't eligible but curious to see if it still counts as it did in the past. That's the only way I'm hitting 10k points in the promo period.

I have not seen any from the promotion that ended 4/30. My only points over 10k were SUB miles though. It also says 6-8 week though, so still possible. I have read SUB have counted in the past, but so far nothing has posted. And I believe that one was only a 15% bonus.

Can't PC a charge card to a credit card (and vice versa) and there are no fee free charge cards.
