Since I now have a 2% on everything card, I have no more 1% spend. Unless I forget and use the wrong card.

And forgetting is a problem - Chase freedom 5% at grocery stores Rose Gold 4%...I've whipped out my gold card quite a few times for just small trips when I should have used my Freedom.

Edit: I think some of it is vanity - that Rose Gold is so pretty!

Yeah, then it's a toss up on if I bought it for better than the return I'd get. Like if I bought it at a grocery store where I got the 5% back, then I'd still use it over the 2% card just to use it up. If not then it gets tough.

So hard to "miss out" on points but there's only so much money to spend, it has to get used sometime. Part of why I've been restraining myself from picking them up without a plan. I made the mistake of giving one to hubby to use on everyday purchases last year. I bought a bunch while trying to hit MSR's and maxing out Discover categories, so I wanted some help liquidating. I realized the only time it got used is when a random bill came in and I asked if he still had money left on the GC to use it up. The answer was always Yes because he put it on his nightstand and that's where it lived until I bothered him about it

I only go to the branch once or twice a year, usually to use the loose change machine.
How times have changed. I am going to date myself, but I still remember going to the bank every other Friday to deposit my pay check (that was delivered interoffice to my desk) before direct deposit was a thing! Now I am like you and rarely go to the physical bank.

@Haley R I much prefer Chase over PNC. I closed my Chase account after my bank bonus last year but kept DH's. Makes it easy to push money to new accounts as it counts as DD. First make sure you get the info on the latest Chase bank bonus on DoC. No point in losing out on free money when you are going to open an account anyway.

As others have mentioned open the PNC for the bonus (especially after you get a Chase account since the push will count for a DD).

Got a spend bonus on my Barclays Wyndham via email - 1,000 bonus points after $1,000 spend in each of May and June. Last time I got one of these, the spends were only $750, and Wyndham has devalued their points, so this is probably not worth doing anymore except to make Barclays happy.

I've been in a weird space, just quietly reading along. DH had an MRI today. It should be read tomorrow. Hopefully everything is okay. This is from his recent ER visit and a CT scan that showed a little something abnormal. I am taking a vacation day Friday. I'm pretty mentally fried right now.

Conversation Starter:

Is anyone else already actively working on 2021 vacation plans? I've already got my 2020 locked in with a Disney cruise and a trip to WDW for food and wine. I've got 2021 pretty narrowed down too.

I can't talk about this in real life - people would think I was insane planning trips that far in advance. But I can't be the only one, right?

Once I'm under 5/24, I'll be actively racking up URs again and I plan on using them for either Greece or Norway.

I certainly hope your husband is okay.

But as far as travel plans I have many ideas of places I want to go. Only thing planning with family can be exhausting. It's usually me and DD but she wants to sometimes do her own planning. And while my sister just got a CSP she has limited vacation days.

But we know for next year we want to do a Cruise to Cuba. As well as spend on some time in Key West.

And then (if DD can wait) there would be WDW in 2021 for the 50th Anniversary

I know I'm one of the few minivan fans out there, and I still am at heart, but I bought a new car last night and will be putting the van up for sale. ( :sad1: about giving up the van)

I got a plug-in hybrid that has a 26 mile electric range which fits my IRL usage better (in hybrid mode a tank is supposed to last 580 miles but I think I'll be doing better than that). On the drive home from the dealership I averaged 86(!) MPG. I am going to miss all the space in the van though.

I was able to put $5K on a credit card (yay!) but they would only let me use 1 credit card instead of splitting it onto 3 different ones (boo!, since I could have finished up my MSR on a couple of cards) so I just went with my best cash back card (BoA Premium Rewards with Plat Honors).

Ironically, DH was approved for CIP2 this morning and I could have used that for the $5K if my timing had been better!

Yeah, I've got accept that my sweet P2 is fine with opening cards, but he needs just one card to use. So I need to give him whichever card he needs to make MSR on to use for every day spend, then switch it out once the MSR is met. Giving him gift cards to use is just going to be an exercise in frustration for me, unless I can literally hand him the gc as he is heading to the store (and even then, its only a 50/50 shot). I also need to be careful not to stash too many gift cards - only buy with a plan.

Do it!! Lol I am loving my serve card. I’m going to try and buy $5,000 worth of the $200 cards to load to serve this month. That’s $250 if I redeemed for cash $375 for travel.

Last day of the month the balance needs to be zero to avoid the fee.

I opened my Serve online 2/14, my monthly fee posts on the 17th of the month. It was a surprise to me because I was expecting it to be the last day of the month too. So I got hit with the $6.95 fee because I wasn't expecting it on the 17th.

Serve people, can you answer a few questions? I have been reading up a bit on this and I'm still not sure what the risks are. It seems pretty certain that loading high amounts every month sooner or later will get the the Serve card shut down. Is this correct? Is there any "safe" number to load per month to avoid the shut down? And since Serve is connected to AmEx, and you need to give Serve your SSN, is there any fear that having a Serve card shut down could negatively affect the credit card side?

This has never happened to me, I just got an email from Paypal that a dispute has been opened against me, and they have taken the funds back out of my balance. It was for a Dooney I sold on ebay and shipped on Feb 4th. Package was delivered, I can see the ebay listing where they won, and they say they did not authorize the purchase. WTH do I do now???

SOUTHWEST 60k OFFERS ON PERSONAL CARDS:

PLUS: https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/southwest/AEP60kPlus?CELL=6PNF

PRIORITY: https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/southwest/AEP60kPriority?CELL=6W8G

PREMIER: https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/southwest/AEP60kPremier?CELL=6PND

Offer expires 6/10/19. No update to support links (yet??)

Just a 2k MSR here...reminder of the “1 SW PERSONAL” rule and that if you earned a bonus on ANY Southwest personal card in the past 24 months you are ineligible.

Thanks for posting......was going to have DH apply for the SW business card in June and personal in September.....
Will probably reverse the order to get this 60k offer.....it will put him at 5/24, but on 9/28 he drops back to 4/24...and could get the SW business in October
Unless someone has other thoughts/ideas on this

I had this happen to me years ago...you should be able to see in PayPal and maybe eBay too that the address you sent the bag to was a confirmed address....send then the tracking number showing it was delivered there

I think Serve shut downs have stopped recently. Some people though get five cards have two active load and withdraw 5k a month then close the account and re open.

NFCU has an App for that. When I get a check (It has to be under 10K) I take a pic with my phone and drop it in my account. I only go to the branch once or twice a year, usually to use the loose change machine.
I’m talking about cash, not checks. We can deposit checks on our heritage app

We probably wouldn’t plan on opening more than one bank account, especially not right when we’re moving. We’ll have too much on our minds but we might consider opening a PNC account later down the road. I’ll make sure to check out DoC before we open one

I’m not sure where to post this, but I figured you guys would have the answer.
I want to order from Prime Now and have it delivery on May 15th. But I’m also try to take advantage of a Chase cash back deal that expires on the 11th. If I order before the 11th but don’t have it delivered until the 15th, when will my credit card be charged?

I would definitely try via SM. Cite your disappointment that they increased the offer right after you applied and maybe include a link to the offer showing that it is a public offer.

I wonder if it would be worth trying to match DH's offer to this? He applied using an in-flight link for 50k points probably around 6 weeks ago? Can't hurt to ask at least!
