Another DP with a slightly different outcome - though I do not know how and why........I had a CSP with an AF that always posted in Feb. I upgraded to CSR in Jan 2018 - was charged $450 AF in July. Have no idea why this posted in July as that was no anniversary of any kind.

Since opening the card I have received $500 in airline credits, $600 in travel credit and $100 in Global Entry credit - plus numerous redemptions @ 1.5x thru the travel portal. Not bad for one $450 AF. I will be downgrading or canceling the card whenever the next AF posts, which at this point I am assuming will be July.

Was this from the signup bonus? Or some other unknown-to-me card benefit??

If you upgrade a CF to a CSR, does anyone know what happens to AU cards that are on that account? DH has a CSR that will hit its 1 year anniversary in June, and he has a CF that’s about 10 years old. I’m an AU on the CF but not the CSR.

If I downgraded his CSR in June, then upgraded his current CF to a CSR, would I pay an additional $75 if I stay an AU on the now-upgraded CSR?

I can remove myself as an AU on his current CF, but since I do most of the shopping I find it convenient to have a card in my name. Not convenient enough to pay for it though.:)

After e-mailing back and forth with Plastiq since Monday over the board for dd's horse (which was declined on my new AmEx), they finally agreed to let next month go through. They asked me to clarify if it was for "residential rent". I thought it over, and was going to ask them to define "residential", but decided that yes, it is in fact residential rent (I didn't tell them it was equine rent). After all he needs somewhere to live. They didn't specify it had to be for a human being :rolleyes1. Hope board for May will go through.

I almost paid my horse's insurance policy through Plastiq this quarter, but I really didn't want to deal with the hassle of trying to explain what equine insurance is if there were any questions lol.

I've been under this impression for a long time too. But, I have a contradicting DP for my Marriott Premier that I upgraded to the Marriott Premier Plus. The card's AF anniversary is 6/1. Last year's AF posted on 6/1, I paid $85, upgraded it in October to the Premier Plus. Got a refund for 7 months worth of AF (makes no sense to me since it had been 5 months), and the new AF anniversary is now 3/1. Thinking this might have also reset my card anniversary for the free night, I SM'd Chase and was told my card anniversary is still in May which was the original opening month of the card.

So basically I ended up paying $36 for 6/1/18-2/28/19 and used my old Cat 1-5 FN certificate last year, received 50K pts for the upgrade, and should receive my new up to 35K FN certificate sometime in June or July, for the new $95 AF.

Maybe this is what happens for co-branded Chase cards vs Chase UR cards? I can only go based on my own experience. I think @Judique had a similar experience with her upgrade IIRC.

I'm curious about if I upgrade my one of my CFs (I have 2, one is a downgraded CSP) to a CSR after my CF original card anniversary in 8/2019, if I won't be charged the $450 until the next card anniversary in 2020... Would you expect no $450 AF until 8/2020 in this scenario? Then, I could use up my $300 CSR travel credit in Jan (CSR anniversary month) and downgrade it in Feb. Hmmm...

Mine was strange at least to me.

Applied for card Dec 25,2017.

Paid $85 fee Feb 2,2018.

Upgraded card Dec 2018. (Maybe a week or so before Xmas.)

Rec'd $95 back. And 50K Marriott points.

Haven't been billed yet for another annual fee - was expecting it in February after chasing down the info that I had paid the original in Feb 2018.

So, maybe I'll get charged eventually but at this point I am not complaining. And, I've redeemed $45 worth of Chase offers on this card.

Ok I sort of missed what was happening with the canceled flights, but I saw someone say to check... one of mine in June is on a 800(is that the worrisome one?) does this mean I'm gonna get canceled?

That's exactly what I booked - 2 nights in a premium family room for 15k each. Talk about a deal, it's no wonder this one hit 30k. Tryp used to have a variety of neat rooms, including a fitness room and a Samsung experience room that included a 3D projector, but it looks like those classifications are gone. Big room it is, then.

Getting there couldn't be easier - just look for the 34th St exit out of NYP and walk down 8th Ave one block to 35th.

There are a couple of good places to eat immediately nearby. Tick Tock Diner is great for breakfast and located under the Wyndham New Yorker on the corner of 35th/8th. Skylight Diner is another great breakfast spot on the other side of 34th, at 9th. If you like Italian sandwiches, check out Sergimmo Salumeria at 35th/9th - super good sandwiches and cannoli.[/QUOTE

Thanks for the advice....we'll be heading nearby for a weekend soon...looking for good cheap local spots for food near there also

If my SPG Personal anniversary is 8/3 (or that's the AF day at least) and I took the upgrade offer to Lux/Brilliant on 3/27...

Theoretically I will get ~4mths of my $95 fee refunded and charged ~4mths of the $450 fee, give or take a month?

I haven't been able to check in for a few days because I've been buried at work, but I've caught up to only being 20 pages behind. I wanted to share a quick DP.

Met MSR for my SW biz on 2/28, statement closed 03/02. My points for the spend posted on 03/03, but no SUB. @Calfan, you were right that meeting MSR close to statement close, could make your SUB become delayed until the next statement.

Great. Except.

We have a flight booked to MCO for TONIGHT! My last statement closed 04/02, and I checked obsessively yesterday for the RR to hit my account. FINALLY, they were there when I checked at about 5:30 p.m. I was able to designate DH as my companion immediately, and I went on and added him as my companion to our flight. However, since I booked us all on the same SW reservation, I couldn't cancel the original reservation without calling. I called SW and there was a 35 minute call back time. Keep in my mind, I was supposed to check in for our flight at 7:45 p.m. PLUS, I was still plugging away at work trying to get as much done as I could. SW called me back and they were super helpful and efficient and confirmed DH was added as a companion and refunded ~14,000 RR back to my account by cancelling his original reservation. I had about an hour to spare before I had to check in. Woo hoo, talk about sliding in right under the bar lol!

We are headed to Universal for two days, returning Saturday night at 12:00 a.m! Hopefully my kids don't meltdown with such a whirlwind trip. Everything is totally free with points except for our food and any thing else we might purchase down there. It's our first trip to the dark side and one we never would take without churning!

Thank you all! I will check these out!
We stayed at the Sheraton and really liked it. We had a theme park view and since we are platinum had lounge access in the evening for lite fare and wine and beer and complimentary breakfast buffet in the am.

(Edited to remove erroneous info)

That Marriott card was whackadoodle for me too, it doesn't seem to follow the rules. But given the DP above, I'm inclined to think Chase changed the rules. Maybe now the $450 will post a few months after the upgrade? Weird. You can still take advantage of that if you were so inclined... you'd just have to be quick.

When I did it last year, I upgraded my CF to CSR, booked through the UR portal at 1.5x, paid the rest of the balance (since I didn't have enough URs to cover the entire booking) on the card, which then triggered and used up the $300 travel credit. A few months later, I downgraded the card. I asked on r/churning at the time when I would be charged the AF, and the answer was on my original CF's anniversary. I downgraded before that date. Never got an AF. Who knows.

Well perfect timing Doc just posted the TD bank $200 for $500 spend offer. I applied SO and he got approved, but I was denied. It says to wait for a decision in the mail explaining why.

SO's bonus will pay for our Keys to the Kingdom tour I booked for our June trip.

Nice card. 40% cash back on a super easy MSR? Yes please. Did this one last year when I was doing the TD bank bonus. Be forewarned, the credit card site is like something out of 1998. Just recently closed this card, in fact, so just as a note you'll have to call to close it. Not a big deal though.

If you don't mind sharing your hotel I could probably throw out a few more.

Just remembered from our trip last month at the Ink48, we went to Gotham West Market at W 45th and 11 Ave. Any fans of Ample Hills Creamery on the Boardwalk at Disney? There's one tucked away in Gotham West Market. It's an open space food hall but there's not much else there quite yet. There's a seafood place that was eh, a ramen place that looked good, and a Shanghai-inspired street food place called Jianging that was awesome. There is really so much food in the blocks surrounding in Hell's Kitchen, it's hard to go wrong.

Your story is delightfully strange. Did you get a free night certificate at any point?

Quoting myself. Anyone like to check my math?

Going with the 4 months number, I'm charged $150 for Lux fee and refunded $31.67 of personal fee, for net fee of $118.33
2 nights at Dolphin = $500 including taxes/resort fee.
Use $300 Lux credit, plus $40 on $200 offer on my card.
Use $40 on $200 offer on DHs card.

AF cost + Dolphin - all credits = $118.33+$500-$380=$238.33 for our stay?
