I mailed in the info Barclay asked for to verify my dh's identity for the aviator card on Mar 11. We've heard nothing about it at all and they said he would hear something within 30 days. Someone else had to do this for Barclay also (maybe @DisneyMandC ??). Does it take the full 30 days to hear from them?

In more Barclay news, I still have heard nothing from them about the 10k match I requested. I sent the request on Mar 4. They said they were forwarding it on for review. Why are they SOOOO slow!?!?! Barclay is kind of sorta driving me crazy.

I can't remember how long I waited, but I finally just called them and asked if they had it. The rep found the info and approved me on the phone. She was a little snarky, but whatever. Might be worth it to call them and just see where they're at in the process. I think I recall that @speedyfishy's app was in limbo for a super long time, but can't recall if she ever called in on it. FWIW, I've never heard of anyone sending in the info and not being approved, but you could maybe speed them up with a call.

Thanks! I think a phone call may be in order too but it's my dh's app so...:crazy2:

DH and I just enable each other. It was looking like we would change days or more likely add a day to do the MK Passholder event they released yesterday. So I booked flights home Monday night instead of Sunday night. Then I looked at Thursday flights and they are crazy prices compared to Wednesday :confused3 Like $250pp on United, or SW is sold out of WGA so anytime is $570/40k RRs, for flights we could hit after work. Vs I booked Wednesday night for 9k RRs. So I told DH this, was like well we could look at coming back Mon morning too so you're not missing a full day of work... he was like, no Monday night. Or Tuesday morning. :rotfl:

Decided to try a day time chat with Citi for my dh's personal card and ask for a match. No go from the day time rep. Brittany informed me that I could not be matched unless I had received a mailer or email. When I said the offer was available on AA's website, she promptly told me that wasn't the same as being 'presented' an offer :headache: So, I'll stick to late night chats.

good to know.. I need to do the same thing. Guess I'll try the late night chat.

Have their been any reports of the Amex Lowe's/Staples offers not working or being clawed back on personal cards? I have the Lowe's 10% off on my Rose gold card and now I have the additional MR offer on it too. I have a bunch of Disney gcs I need to buy in the next month and would love to stack both offers.

I suck at this game. Applied for the csp NOT using support because i found a 60k reward point offer on line. Charged annual fee and when i called to state that it should be waived the first year they told me not with my offer. I am disappointed and mad. I dont think i am cut out for this.

Not to make you feel bad, but the CSP support links now point to the 60k offer too.

Random thoughts from our "quick weekend" getaway that covered 6 nights, 4 airports, and 3 cities

+ As we sat like peasants in the cattle pens at Midway, waiting for the SW cattle call for our connecting flight, I really felt like we were missing out on the lounge - even though we've never used one before so we don't actually know what we're missing! But the fact that it was something we were eligible for but couldn't access, it left a bit of disappointment in the back of my mind. I think part of it was it was typical Midway with packed gates, announcements going all over, and people always walking past so there's nothing relaxing about it even though we lucked out on timing and got seats (in chairs!) AND they were the new fancy ones with charging ports built into the bench under the seat so we could recharge while we sat.
On our return flight we got there way too early but it was way more relaxed so while slightly disappointed there was no lounge to check out, our hotel included free breakfast so we were watered and fed before arriving and we snagged two arm chairs at the gate that they were set back from the main seating area so it was much more relaxing while waiting nearly 2 hours to board the delayed flight. And since we were delayed on take-off there was no time to be disappointed on the connector airport as we had just enough time to use the restroom before boarding started on the last flight. It was interesting to reflect on the sense of loss on the outbound travel but happy to know it's not pervasive (since we were just fine during the inbound legs) and I could still be a peasant under the right situations - so it's not something I'll feel like I "need" once it's gone.

+ Apparently keeping your belt and shoes on is worth the cost of liberty
As we were packing up for this trip I mentioned that I realized me taking the backpack through security isn't really an incentive to get him to go for GE, as a joke. So hubby mentioned, yeah, I was thinking about maybe I should get it before the Alaska trip - very dejected like - possibly, maybe, but if I do that, that means I can keep my belt and shoes on, right?
"Yep, and you don't need to remove the liquids or anything from your bag and most times you get the metal detector rather than the body scan."
So after a little bit of discussion on his objections to doing it in the first place, which I very much respect and why I never pushed for him to do it, and that if he really wanted it before the Alaska trip he's got to decide soon since the wait times are longer than when I did it, I get this very defeated response, "I guess I'll take off the tinfoil hat if I can keep my belt and shoes on. What do I have to do?"
I find it hysterical that that's the deciding factor. I'm sure it's not just that, but I had to laugh when he put it that way. But on the CC front, even though I won't get to use my Priority Pass, I'll probably get to use the GE credit from the CSR so that's something at least. I'll have to work on a roadmap for when it comes time for renewals in a few years.

+ And a reminder, mostly to ourselves, to always bring more small bills than you think you need. In an effort to not over plan, we didn't map out our cash as most stuff took CCs so we just hit the ATM on the way and only had what ones or fives were in our pockets. Well since most things did take CCs there wasn't a lot of opportunity to break a $20 bill so when we wanted to pay for public transit that takes exact change, it got a little dicey :) Usually I make sure we have at least $20 in ones and fives since we are usually tipping drivers or bellhops or have a vending machine for tickets or whatnot, but I kinda under planned that aspect this time and now I have a wad of ones from the nice front desk clerk that had change for a $20 bill on the last day - but all in ones!
I've got a few hotels to review for the Hotel thread but the TL;DR of it was I don't think we stayed anywhere spectacular but nothing was terrible either. So I don't think you'll have to wait with baited breath for them to come out

@wendow I sent my SO's stuff in too but they never responded and I never called since it was his app and he was pretty busy. They never sent anything else.

Is the 30 day in writing message a good sign when applying for the CIC?
Yes, it is the same as getting the 30-day message for the CIP. It will change soon to either a 2-week (very good sign) or 7-10 (not such a good sign). Just keep checking the automated number. Hoping you get approved!

Sorry, things can change fast. Always good to double check and definitely read the offer before you sign up. The public offer changed within the last few weeks and the support links followed soon after.

I did read the offer and i thought i read it carefully, just not carefully enough. I wish i had at least supported. Anyway, a good learning experience, and there is always next time! Thanks for trying to make me feel better.
