Happy to hear this! I used (probably) the same link and hope to have the same results after my next statement closes in a couple weeks. We used our trip to Tucson to put a healthy dent in P2’s United biz (and we did!) but now that we’re home, it’ll be back to my SW personal.

On a related note, what do we all do after a trip? Laundry! Except here...Our dryer seems to have bit the dust. It still runs but no heat and no drying power. It ran approximately 5 hours this afternoon but our clothes are still damp. DH might be able to fix it, but it’s old and no guarantee the fix would last, so looks like a new dryer will go on one of our cards. Question is, which one? We’ll likely buy from Lowe’s and we have 10% offers on a number of cards that haven’t already been put towards other things, like gift cards. I don’t know whether to put it on one of those cards, or on one of the two we have current MSR’s on.

This is what I'm doing for Lowe's purchases right now . . . it's a bit convoluted I'll admit. I'm buying a Kroger gift card at Lowe's using my SPG Biz 10% Amex offer. Then I go to Kroger during a 4x promo deal and purchase a Lowe's gc to get the fuel points, paying with the Kroger gc (stacking those 2 deals = 24% for me). I can't recall if you have the Amex offer or not - or if your Lowe's carries Kroger cards, but if not, perhaps you could stack a 4x fuel promo with Dosh?? Although I think that Kroger Dosh deal is capped per day - maybe $5??

Then go through a rebate portal to purchase your dryer on the Lowe's site. You should be able to get a 10% off coupon for Lowe's from "quik coupons" (I've had great luck with them - use code VIP40 for a 40% discount on your coupon price). Pay on the Lowe's site with up to 5 Lowe's gift cards.

Your rebate portal cash back may not track since you'd be using a quik coupon. Sometimes I get lucky but not always.

Good luck!

For what it is worth, I was able to get Choice Hotels to match my Marriott Platinum status with a simple email. Comfort Suites used to be our go to for Hersheypark weekend getaways but now it’s Fairfield Inn for the Marriott points plus it’s closer to the park.
We've stayed at that Fairfield too :)

Ladies and gentleman...boys and girls...I now present to you... @SouthFayetteFan's 7,000th comment:

(sorry @DaveL - maybe I can yell at you in my 7,001st comment...I've been sitting on this one for about a week! ALSO Thanks to everybody here for being the most awesome Credit Card churning group in the universe!)

A collection of my favorite Gifs and memes I like to use on this thread (and other places too)...

I’ve been lurking and learning a lot. I am at 5/24 but going back to 4/24 soon and hoping to plan a Disney trip for next year.

I’m also a lurker and infrequent commenter on r/churning. I would appreciate a link to the dischurners reddit so I can participate there and use support links as appropriate. As a lurker, I don’t think I can pm here to get the link (unless I’m doing something wrong). :)
Hey WELCOME! If you let us know your reddit name here on the thread I can get you setup.

I hate to rain on the parade...but isn't that actually the opposite, since the 800 is the more likely flight to be affected (i.e. how do you get there?) :duck:

That's not true. The 737-800 isn't the same thing as the 737 Max 8, two different planes. Per CBS because it was the top news story that had the info I needed not because I like them any more than any other site.

Boeing 737 Next Generation (737NG) is the overarching name given to a fleet of aircraft that began production in 1991. It includes the Boeing 737-600, Boeing 737-700, Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737-900 — variations with different seating capacity. The 737NG featured improved fuel capacity, a 25 percent larger wing capacity, and an ability to fly 900 more nautical miles than earlier 737 models. Southwest Airlines was the world's first airline to take delivery in 1997, and by April 2012, 4,000 Boeing 737NGs had been delivered around the world.

Two decades after the debut of the 737NG, Boeing announced plans for a new model: the Boeing 737 Max 8.

Or the 737-700 & -800 are the first version of the ford escape/dodge durango and the max 8 & 9 are the newer different looking versions of the same thing. So while the flights could still get cancelled, it won't be because they are on a max 8 because it's a totally different plane. It's also more than just the Max 8's that are out of service for SW or any other airline that has them because their are always going to be planes out for maintenance issues and if they aren't getting done fast enough, something unexpected happens so it need more than an "oil change" the plane is out longer.

DoC is saying that some are able to bypass 5/24 if you are targeted for the card in your offers. So I look to see what I have, oh look a CFU which I already have, gee thanks! Not worth going 6/24 even if one falls off this month. Maybe someone else will have better luck with their offer.

Nobody said they were the same plane. They are simply the routes most likely to be affected by the MAX grounding as they have the same seating configuration as the MAX (both seat 175 vs the 700 which seats 143). It’s easy to snag an 800 to service what was previous a Max route (with many of the Max routes potentially being important long distance routes). So it seems anecdotally that if your plane is an “800” you have a higher likelihood of being inconvenienced. Plus the ratios I posted on the fleet earlier (there are far more 700s in service right now which in theory also reduces your odds)

I stopped at Safeway today and picked up the MCGCs on my account. Just sent them to a car loan through Plastiq. I've now put almost $4500 through on my 'business' plastiq account (think of all the driving to the post office I do...) though about $1300 so far was not business cards, so I'll be curious to see if it tracks towards the $10k. That's enough progress for tonight, right? I'm wiped lol. Last night was not enough to make up for my 3am shift yesterday. DH lands at 11:30 tonight but FIL has kindly offered to pick him up (more like insisted... he keeps telling me that it's silly for me to stay up and go out there late when I have to work early and he's at home - I will bow to his wisdom :P)

May do DHs Safeway deal tomorrow or Thurs, all going on my Brilliant (it's textured, I didn't realize that...). So glad you pointed this out @Lain. I may still pull the trigger on a Platinum in the next week or so, it helps make a good dent in the spends. If I do that and CIP 2 for me, that will put me at my highest MSR ever... $24k. Brilliant upgrade, DHs CIP 2, AA Biz cards... $1300 to go on Arrival Plus... :scared: Wow this sounds super crazy!

On the other hand, maybe I should push through a bit and look at hotels... I think I've twisted DHs arm into adding another day for our F&G trip. We were already looking at after Easter, even though it will be busy... we like one of the concert artists... I'm very tempted by MK being open until midnight since we've never had that (also a sign of busy but 9pm park close on slow times makes me sad as we're night owls)... now they added the passholder MK night... :D But hotels are scarce. May be coming to terms with cashing out more URs. Or may be using my Brilliant credit at Swolphin... I can put A Year in the Life back on too @afan I watched Winter and Spring, I knew I'd seen Winter and turns out at least half of Spring. I'm excited yet scared to watch the next two!

Thanks! That’s a great way to do Lowes purchases, I’d totally do that and probably will! Only thing is that Lowes isn’t one of the gift cards that’s 4x fuel points at Kroger for this week. Currently we have clean wet clothes hanging about the house and it’s driving me crazy already! I might just split the purchase on two cards. I’d really like to just finish off the MSR on the SW personal so I can focus on getting more UR’s. So put about as much on the SW as will finish the MSR, and then put the rest on P2’s Amex Plat, which has the 10% offer and hasn’t been getting much use lately. And that would also keep the Amex people happy for our future churning endeavors.

Shoot, yes I said that backwards.:rotfl: Wait, now I am second guessing which is which. I guess I better double check. I sure don't want to be stuck at home!

Anyone know if there is a no fee PNC account I can downgrade to after hitting my $300 bonus? I have a need for as much of the cash as possible ($6k sitting there) before Saturday. Worse case I close it and possibly get hit with the $25 fee but still, I’d prefer to play by the rules.

I did not see a free account option unless you're a student. But you can avoid the account fee either by holding a minimum balance or having a direct deposit. If you've received the bonus you can downgrade to the basic version which only requires $500 minimum balance or $500 in direct deposits within the statement cycle to avoid the fee. You can find the option to change your account type in the Preferences menu option within the VW, you can do it online after it's been open 45 days.

If that's too much work you can try to avoid the ETF by withdrawing it all to $0 and then SM to close the account. There are reports of them not assessing the fee if there's a $0 balance. I didn't do it myself, I just made "DD's" each month until I closed.
