Does anyone know when MK usually switches from Halloween to Christmas decorations? I would love to catch it where we could see both in the same trip.

When we were there in 2017....the day after Halloween...the studios had Christmas decorations up....don’t know how quickly the other parks change over or if this is how they usually do it....that was the only park we visited after Halloween..since we were leaving that night

I've done it both ways (as long as you don't get a pop up)...cancelled, waited then applied; applied, told pending, called and cancelled card #5 then approved. I'm not sure if Amex has a preference. They, like Barclay's are just so unpredictable

A lot of the houses I've seen don't have front porches. That would help some, but I need me some green space. These houses I've been looking at are just too close together. I swear we could touch the other person's house if we stuck out the window lol. It's just not for us. I've never seen that style of a house before.

Yeah, I think they are terrible. When we upgrade to a single family home backyard space is one of the important things on my list. I wish they built half as many houses on the land around here and let people have yards.

I agree with wanting some yard (of course I have 4 dogs). The houses that are being built around my house have almost no yard (and the garage behind them) and the aesthetic does not appeal to me. Fortunately we have a corner lot (2 1/2 lots actually) and all of the expensive no yard homes are making my property values go up up up. So big more valuable yard for me. Win-win.

Not to be nosey and pry, but are you within the US? Most of the specific card info we discuss are US cards but the concepts are universal if you look at the offerings outside that to apply them to, if you happen to be from other parts. (With the name and Cheers, wondered if you are, or maybe were, a neighbor from the North. Love the concept of Cheers though, so universal and uplifting for any situation. I sometimes miss my interactions with Canada/UK offices, never ended a meeting without Cheers In fact, I don't think anyone ever said Bye; if you heard Cheers meeting was done. But I digress, see, guilty of chatty )

We went last year and stayed until October 27 or 28 I can’t remember but they had Xmas decorations up at hs then. I think usually the day after the last mnsshp they start switching things over. It’s a pretty fast change because the first mvmcp is usually that next week

They start Christmas pretty early in November, so I'd think if you timed it for Halloween week you'd get some of the decorations. Takes them a couple weeks to fully roll out but I think after the last MNSSHP they start the switch. Last time we did WDW was first weekend in Nov and there were a decent amount of Christmas out already.

The first MVMCP last year was Nov. 8 so I would say if you're there between Halloween and around the 6-7, you would be able to see both.

They do look pretty silly to me but that’s because I’ve never seen that style before. I wouldn’t want my backyard to be an alley. We’ve been able to find lots of other options though

So my memory isn't totally faulty, I remember getting pictures with the Christmas trees in MK but then started to second guess if maybe I was mixing it up with the trip from the year before. But if they're starting the party that early then we did, as we were there around the 7th that year.

I believe I've seen that SM can work to expedite. They've been quick to answer mine so far, usually just a few hours, so you should know same day if it's successful or you have to call.

I cannot be the only one thinking those bonuses weren’t awarded due to that old (not so old?) Amex technical glitch of random bonuses not tracking but customer service reps just latched onto the new gaming language because that was easier to claim than to try to track down a bonus the computer failed to track? IF that’s the case it’s entirely possible Amex never intended to screw people over by approving them without a pop and then denying the bonus...

I can’t decide between this and the other prevailing theory on Reddit, that Amex upset enough of their customers who took their complaints to the CFPB or arbitration that forced Amex to revisit their legal position. Either way, I’m glad it looks like it worked out in our favor.

We tend to be chatty and get off topic periodically but will answer questions always. If you need specific advice from a poster who has relevantly decent experience in a particular area be sure to tag them. Applied for DW’s CIP#2 yesterday morning using my link, and it’s been approved overnight!

This is DW’s third open Chase biz card; with a CIU approved in 9/18, and a CIC approved in 12/18. CIP#1 was closed in 10/18 after one year when the AF hit. CIP#2 has only a $5k CL, but that’ll work!

Special thanks to @SouthFayetteFan for being my sounding board. I went back and forth between the United Biz 75k miles offer and CIP#2 for a combined 100k UR. The math was too obviously in favor of CIP#2 even with a $95 AF compared with the United Biz’s first year AF waived. While my wife does fly United quite a bit when she travels for work, she’ll get almost no benefit from the United Biz that her company wouldn’t otherwise cover as an expense. So if we’re just going by the SUBs (because let’s be real, Chase has nerfed the heck out of the CIP for any ongoing bonus category spend), the CIP’s 100k UR easily wins out.

Happy to be the sounding board - I think part of this is that CIP #2 almost seems too good to be true, haha! Once you get past the initial "shock" it's like...wow, yes, that is the right plan!

The last MNSSHP this year will be Friday November 1st so MK will still be fully decorated for Halloween that day. MVMCP dates haven't been released yet but typically it would start on Thursday November 7th so MK would basically be decorated for Christmas by that day. In between will be the transition. If you have a trip that spanned those dates you could see both

Did he have a break in the stays? Or did he check out of one Marriott and then check into the next one on the same day? Many of the promotions count consecutive nights as the same stay even on separate reservations, although you’d think different hotels would cancel that clause out – but given Marriott’s IT situation lately it wouldn’t surprise me if somehow that happened.

Took exactly 10 days for that second stay to post. He did get the 2nd set of 5 free nights for the promotion.
