What I would like to know more about is "Plastiq". We have 2 properties and pay our tax with checks. If I can utilize CC's to pay for them that would be awesome.

Plastiq was a topic that came up a couple weeks ago. Lain wrote about it in post #7753 of this thread. If you can make $10K in spend by 5/31/19 and have business credit cards you can use for that $10K, then you can get the next $10K spent through Plastiq fee free - see what I wrote in post #8072 of this thread (it's targeted to certain Plastiq account holders, I name the ones I know about in that post). I'm using Plastiq to pay for property taxes too.

Not caught up at all, but asking because I see EWR posts. DD is flying United to Europe this weekend from EWR. Are they any lounges she can use? And more importantly, how many friends can she take with her? (She would rather not lounge than go there without her traveling companions.)
Art and lounge is great. Cardholder plus 2 guests for Amex Plat and CSR.

Brilliant!

Can I ask, what kind of heart problem does she have?

She has pulmonary artery stenosis--you can hear her murmur just by putting your ear up to her chest. In med school there was a joke about heart murmurs (they're grades I-VI) and the upshot is only cardiologists can hear grade Is, med students can hear IVs, the janitor can hear Vs and I added to it-the psychiatrist can hear VI. Hers is usually a IV but can be a V or VI at times. My vet keeps telling me she was a fourth year vet students' senior presentation when she was at Auburn. The angiogram is pretty cool albeit sad since it shows an anatomical variant that couldn't be treated with balloon catheterization. Thanks again for your kind words. It's been an adventure since cardio isn't my thing!

Lol my BIL just tried to tell me he didn't think SWGE would be that crowded on our trip because Disney would probably blockout APs for long time around there because of it. I was like nope... not how that works LOL.

:rotfl:I remember when I was doing a rotation in Jax April of 1994 with friends. Over Easter weekend we thought we'd drive down "since it won't be busy during Easter." Needless to say, it was so crowded and I learned that logic doesn't apply. o_O

Went ahead and started my mattress run at a Hyatt Place with the current 1,500 Point/night promotion (after 2nd visit). Booked 39 rooms and "checked in" last night even though we're headed to Costa Rica for 10 days tomorrow :smooth:
Negotiated the rate down to $40/night w/ no tax as it's over 30 days.

Breakdown will be:
- 75,000 Hyatt Points
- $100 Gift Card
- Category 1-4 Certificate
- Category 1-7 Certificate
- 4 Suite Upgrade Certificates
- Globalist Status through 2020 (Have approx 25 Hyatt nights between now and end of 2020 incl. many Park Hyatts)

Total cost: $1,560

Wait a sec...you can negotiate hotel rates? I am seriously considering spending the summer in chs. I was going to do a month at homewood on points, a week at residence inn with my n&f cert, and then another 2-3 weeks on money. I could certainly adjust that to more cash and less points though, if I can negotiate a better rate!

My dh is used to the 'surprises'. I applied for him a citi AA biz card last night after he went to bed. I got a forwarded 'Congrats, you are approved!' email this morning with a note from him, "I see I have a new AA card. Am I on this grAAvy train you mentioned?" :rotfl:Yes dear, yes, you are :D

At least he paid attention when you mentioned it...lol

Sometimes my DH finds out when the card arrives. We have a shared email account, because he never checks email. I’ll tell him he has an email and days later he will still not have checked. I sometimes forward it to his work email as he is required to check that.

I've noticed a few DP's about store cards maybe not counting in the automated approval process anymore. It's nothing that anyone has called definitive yet, but I remember someone popped up on here a while back that thought they were 6 or 7/24 but 2 or 3 of those were store cards and they got instantly approved. I've seen a couple more over on r/churning. I think it's safer to assume it will count for automated approvals but you might be able to get reconsideration to, well, reconsider; however, if you're desperate or just a general risk taker it probably won't hurt to try it anyway.

This jives with what I found online. In my case, it likely won't make a difference. I don't want to stack up too many MSRs so by the time she applies for our next card, some of those older ones will be past 24 months. Thanks!

Has anyone mentioned the spend $500.00 on the Hilton Aspire AmEx and get $100.00 back offer on Waldorf Astoria and Conrad hotels (good until the end of June)? I activated it on my card as there is a new Conrad about to open in Washington (that looks amazing) and I need to travel there in the not-too-distant future!

I'm not sure if the $250.00 "resort credit" towards Hilton purchases on the Aspire card will be triggered as I read it to be a credit towards incidentals (meals, spa, etc.), not room nights. Anyone have experience with this on their Aspire?

We added the offer to each of our Aspire cards just in case we decide to try out the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando or any other US based Waldorf or Conrad. No firm plans to do so but you never know.

It should trigger as long as the property is listed under their list of resorts and it isn't an advance purchase rate for US properties. https://www3.hilton.com/en/resorts/index.html?WT.mc_id=zkdCSAA0US1CI2REP4Resorts5US7BR840893

DH and I made a prepayment of $250 from each of our cards last year towards our reservation at the Conrad Rangali Maldives that we are going to this month. The charges were both credited. Be aware that advance purchase rates will not credit according to FT https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hil...286-hilton-amex-aspire-250-resort-credit.html

I even had to have a credit check at my last job!
I have more problems with this than adding utilities to my CR. Why does my future employer need to know my credit? Especially if someone was laid off and struggled to pay bills while looking for a job. To be denied a job because you need a job to pay bills is just wrong.

My old dog has a grade II-III murmur, but it has never advanced. My mom’s dog has a murmur as well and it advanced quickly as he went into CHF at Christmas and spent a few days in doggy ICU. Good to know that some outlive their lifespan estimates. Is your dog in a special diet? For people, always a low sodium diet for CHF but they told my mom it wasn’t needed. As a dietitian (and former vet tech) I wonder if that’s 100% correct, though I do recall the prescription heart diet didn’t seem especially palatable to the dogs.

I am trying to remember, does a Citi Biz account need a separate login from personal? It won't let me link the AA Biz to my existing account so I'm assuming yes, but I would really prefer to not have another login for the same issuer.
Yes

I'd think a low Na++ would be a good idea although it's never been recommended. We're always battling her weight so I have her on a low calorie/grain free (almost a necessity with dogs and allergies in this area) food that she hates. Hope your mom's dog is doing better!

Update on DH's CIP:
He received his letter from Chase-apparently they want proof of address/name/SSN. I wonder if he put in something incorrectly. I hope he can satisfy them and we can receive the CIP in time for Cookie Dog's surgery (fingers crossed!).

We're not going back until Fall (either Sept or Oct) of 2020. I'm both sad and relieved about this.
I was hoping to hit Labor Day then take around a year off... which was even more incentive to drag out the Euro trip and hit DLP for multiple days for a Disney fix :)

Just don't tell r/churning!!

Still catching up today...

So yesterday was not a great day...my dear dog1 (the bulldog who looks a lot like my avatar) has a torn ACL and her surgery (if she gets it--DH is being so weird:sad1:) will be about $4500 (est). Insult to injury-the vet specialist does not take Amex. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

So a 4 figure surgery (during which my beloved pet might die since she has a pretty significant cardiac condition) without making Amex happy? Lose/lose/lose. That's my reality right now. I'm so mad at Chase for not approving DH's CIP right now--and worried sick about my furry child.

I am so sorry.

I did a lot of stovetop, but also have an old zojurusi rice cooker and use it mostly now - cant spell this! I've never had a problem. Not going to buy an instant pot. Daughter has one and I haven't seen her use it.

I have one, too, from a long time ago. I think it's Zojirushi but I'm probably getting that wrong, too. I still use it when I make rice.

We have a Facebook page.

I think we have a new dischurners goal: see how many people we can get to the state fair lol

Is this for the band, or the churning, or the fair?

Yep we have a Facebook page and a YouTube channel. I’ll pm you

Can you please send me a link, too. I'd love to see it.
